  1. Don't you have to be a Master Mechanic to work on these badboys too? Some of my mates work for Volkswagen and I'm sure you can't work on these if you're the normal 'vehicle technician'. I've been in one of these and they are fantastic, although I imagine that despite the cost of buying it being relatively cheap the cost of running the car would be fucking expensive.
  2. I wasn't too sure where to post this, so I thought here? Sorry Mods if I got it wrong. Anyway, so I wanted to change the screen wash as I had some very diluted AutoGylm stuff I've had in there for ages and I'd a big road trip back to the UK so I figured on the winter roads I'd be using it a lot. How to empty the screen wash? Well, just hold back on the stalk until it emptied all over the windscreen, then re-fill it? So thats what I did...and I didn't have to use the screen wash on the road trip back to the UK, or even whilst I was in the UK. However, I tried using it yesterday and nothing happens :gag: not even the whirring noise for the motor! So I figure I've knackered the pump in some way, or something?! Anyone know what I should do? I loathe to take it to Volkswagen for something so trivial, or could it be the fuse? But then again, which fuse is it? :help:
  3. Not at all! The Corrado is one of the most mechanically sound cars I've owned considering its my daily driver, the only thing that seems a bit dodgy is the sunroof, but that (somehow?!) seems to be heat related and I'll get it fixed nearer the summer months. For the record, although it was the best car I've owned, even new cars, the worst car for reliability was my Renault 5 GT Turbo (Phase II).
  4. I've been using Shell Optimax, then called Shell V-Power, now called V-Power Racing 100 for years. Its good stuff. I've not much experience of BP Ultimate, however I can't see either of them being massively different, but the couple of times I did use it was on my old Mk2 Golf GTi and it bizzarely made the car sound different! I also use Aral 100, which you chaps don't get over here.
  5. PCV valve whats that? So the copper mesh 'breather' thing fits in the left-hand side of the engine itself, near the top where the plastic cover is? Mine is a 1995 Corrado by the way. Is it vital? I've not felt the car do anything different :confused4:
  6. Chaps, I'm stuck with a bit of a dilema, I should really clean the car, its pretty dirty, however its cold outside and I can't really be bothered over the Christmas period. However I'm lucky enough that there are some Polish gentlemen in the city who are more than happy to clean my car, inside and out, for a few quid and they are always happy to argue whether its a small or medium car and therefore earning £3 more. Whatcha reckon? Do it myself and stop being a girl, or pay some random Polish fellows?
  7. Following on from my confusing post here: (where I probably just confued maters) viewtopic.php?f=1&t=75217 I have this part from Volkswagen, however, I don't know where it goes or what it does! Can anyone be of help? Cheers ez.
  8. Dude, I was the same, I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of looms and HID kits etc... The Phillips Xtreme bulbs are the tits and really work well.
  9. Are all Corrado wing mirrors heated? Where did you by the glass from dude? Are they a good fit?
  10. I just bought 200 litres of Shell V-Power 'Raching 100' for £90. However, my tax-free-blagging-ways are to stop as I have to come back to the bloody UK for Christmas... How much is it to fill up a Corrado VR6 these days on V-Power? Last time I was back it was like £85!
  11. Bought one of those interior LED bulbs and its a very good, non-chavtastic, white light however...the 'reading' light on the left hand side of the interior light is still old-skool yellow. Anyone know which bulb I have to get to make them match?
  12. I used to go to all the big VW shows, but I was never quite 'scene' enough as I have the mechanical knowledge of jaffa cake, plus I've never had the emo/kitsch look or ever be able to go home to my Father with the 'scene' haricut. Anyway...I got a bit fed up with the attitude at the events/meets, people telling me how I should modify my Mk1 Golf and Mk2 Golf I had at time too, also as I do have a big thing for French cars and have had a few in the past, this was like having a secret homosexual experience that I wasn't allowed to talk about! So...I stopped going. Now I've moved to Germany I've noticed that they've got a very different attitude, it might be as I'm not German, but everyone is very friendly and wants to talk to you - at length - about their cars and modifications. I just wish they'd stop air brushing Wolves on their bonnets...
  13. Ok, I'll admit it, I do watch TopGear when I remember its on, but its not the programme it used to be. It used to be the type of programme that you would sit down with your mates/family with and watch, or you'd record them all so you could watch them back whenever you wanted, or watch the re-runs on 'Dave', or pray that someone day the BBC would release a DVD boxset of the entire show in series order... However, in recent weeks I just find it boring. I watch it if I want to kill time, or I'm wating for something else to come on, no longer is it the show that people discuss the next day at work. Its no longer genius, or intelligent. Its target audience has grown so wide over the entre spectrum that its a show that tries to deliver to many, yet fails to deliver for the majority of motoring enthuiasts. What happened to the car reviews? What happened to the interesting and thought provoking out-of-studio videos? Now its just car crash TV, its crazy crashing into things, or participating in stupid races. Jeremy Clarkson might 'do it' for the pre-pubesant children who love his far right views and stupid comments (I'm 'to the right' also politically before I get acused of being a Labour voter etc), however he doesn't really appear to know a great deal about cars, and he has become a parody of himself, constantly trying to out do his shock value bollocks that he comes out with. Show us cars, show us interesting views, skip the utter shit that you've been lazily putting out lately please. Even 5th Gear is a honest contender to a worthy car/motor enthuiast show now! Apologies for my spelling, was having a rant.
  14. Cool. Thanks dude. Hopefully it wont be too complicated for me to fit it tomorrow!
  15. I'm pretty sure its something under the bonnet and I have a vague recollection of my mate mentioning something connected to my (aftermarket) air filter. Is that any help?
  16. Hi Chaps, Ok, might seem like a silly question, but I've been away on business and while I was away my mate was working on my Corrado VR6, however I got a text saying that I needed a new 'breather box' and that he's ordered one from Volkswagen and I can pick it up tomorrow... What the hell is it?! What does it do?! Are they easy to fit?! Is it a common fault?! Cheers ez.
  17. Hi chaps, This isn't a question for my Corrado, but a general car question. I've got my daily shed Peugeot 406 LX estate as a typical A to B car and I've just had it MOT'd, however the tester told me to get 2 x new tyres. No problem, as its what I expected on the rear tyres and I said I was going to put the current front tyres on the rear and then put brand new tyres on the front of the car, as per normal with a FWD car (as far as I am aware). However the tester said that its now its the 'done thing' to put new tyres on the rear of the car, and leave the front tyres (which don't need replacing yet) on the front. So...thats brand new tyres on the rear and worn tyres on the front in a FWD car? Is this right? I guess its different for AWD or RWD cars, but surely this isn't the case for FWD cars? :cuckoo:
  18. Added a 'VR6 inside' sticker on the rear window and gave it a nice wipe down with some detailing spray, it had been in a garage for 2 weeks and not been driven!
  19. Cheers for the tips lads, the new mount is in and all seem to be well. Next step >>> top mounts!!
  20. After Christmas all the work on my 'C' is finished and then I'm going to my local scrappy, that has 3/4 Corrado's, ripping out all their switches etc and posting them to you!
  21. How did he get the CCTV footage, or at least a few frames from it? I'm sure this must be in breach of the RIPPA Act too, he might even get into trouble for it for distributing it all over eBay, again, I'm sure thats dodgy legal ground. Who is to say that the chap in the CCTV footage is the person responsible? Unless he personally saw the dude get into the car and drive off he could be on a seriously sticky wicked.
