  1. The steering wheel looks great, the dash too. The new colour and rims are really nice too, impressive car!
  2. Couple of questions about swapping a new-ish engine into a corrado, I'm just wondering how cheap you could get away with doing it... I've read a few of the bigger build threads and they all have their own quirks. I love the corrado's looks and handling but all that petrol being burnt makes me guilty. Also, if it needs a £2k rebuild at some point I'd rather spend similar money on a younger engine. I don't have an engine in mind but one from a golf or an audi would be nice. I just saw a post elsewhere saying people had found 24v V8's for as little as £700. So where's the best places to look for an engine? Are there any problems taking a 8v/16v chassis and putting a 2.0+ engine into it, or does it need to be a VR frame? i.e. Is the drive train and everything similar to the VR? Am I going to need expensive rads, coolers, fans and other bits on the engine or is it a case of using the new engines factory setup (if it fits)? Obviously there's loads on the car that would need changing like the brake setup, engine mounts, and I imagine almost all the electrics (to match a newer ECU). What is going to add most to the cost tho? I'm just looking for simple pointers to start with, to help me decide what engine I would be looking for. I'd probably avoid a turbo to 'keep it simple' first  so what else is common apart from the 20vt? Shane
  3. Well I recognise my Bonnet  and Me with my airwaves ducati jacket on  give us the time so I can skip straight to it? dont have the patience for the whole vid, lol edit: ok, I do, green Jreg one is at 2:21 and 3:25. rado-steve's yellow one in the background at the second point getting plenty of under the bonnet interest I assume?
  4. super shiny, all you need now is a nice pic of a sunset or something reflected in the paintwork so it can be a forum banner :D
  5. mate, why are you telling people you have seen that film? its sooo bad. My mate gave me a copy and I can find literally no-one who will take it off me now, even when they are drunk... I got half way through before giving up. bad bad times. brilliant spot tho! lol Edit: Is there a corrado's-in-film spotting thread anywhere? Most random films win. Your top of the leaderboard. Waaaaaay up.
  6. looks and sounds good. nice rims on the bora too, thought it was a beemer at first glance!
  7. The gruven parts one is about £100 and the VW one is (/was) £21.50 inc the new o-rings you will need. I think consensus is that the metal ones aren't needed for reliability, but they look nice. Here's all the info you will need; http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69222
  8. Cheers The_Dude, I thought they were an alternative to sockets etc but I won't bother with a set now unless I need em. Fingers crossed!
  9. Harsh! [strike:27nc58mt]But true.[/strike:27nc58mt]
  10. Are irwin bolt grips any different to a socket set?
  11. I just added 'crack pipe' to the title but left it as coolant water pipe so other noobs like me can find this. I quickly found this thread called 'crack pipe burst - VR6' which has everything I need and more I didn't expect; http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69222 Also this thread 'crack pipe replacement' is short but mentions not removing the bumper or slam panel, just the rad and fans to do the job; http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81411&hilit=crack+pipe And here is an external link to a how-to on the gruvenparts website; http://gruvenparts.com/website/diys/crack%20pipe%20installation.htm Information overload at the mo!
  12. This is a great write up, I am about to attempt this job shortly. I had a look at the metal crack pipe from GruvenParts (I'm just using the plastic VW one tho) and found a link to this (how to install their crack pipe) which also seems very useful; http://gruvenparts.com/website/diys/crack%20pipe%20installation.htm Includes a major warning about how poisonous G12+ is, including the phrase 'SLOW and PAINFUL death'... :gag: so maybe wear gloves if you are going to lube the pipe seal with coolant!! lol I hadn't budgeted on all the tools and effort needed for this job so I am definitely going to go and buy other hoses/clips and the thermostat etc to replace at the same time
  13. ah, the infamous crack pipe! cheers for the info, will have to get myself back to the stealers for the thermostat housing too then. yeah, i think i will try going in the front like you say and hope the bolts haven't all rusted solid. I've not done it before so I wasn't sure how easy taking off the rad would be, I'm sure I can work it out on the day tho. thanks for the help! Shane
  14. Hi, I had some work done on my car at a garage and while it was there the coolant system magically starting pissing water. When I put water in the top it comes straight out again, and basically I have found that the plastic water pipe running across the front of the sump (tucked in under the manifold so I could hardly see it) has a little plastic spout that snapped off. I've bought a new pipe from VW but I'm having trouble getting at it to replace it. Whats the easiest way to do it? Does the manifold have to come off? I couldn't even get the little plastic panel with the warning sign off from above the fans as the screws have both rusted :/ The pipe is part no 021 121 050 C, highlighted yellow on the picture below (kindly sent from the stealership!) Any pointers would be greatly appreciated...
  15. I would ask people on the forum just like you have and then go 'jesus, can that really be done?' quite a bit. I would have a track C over a daily every time tho, although that really is dreaming... lol
  16. There must be loads of things but I can't think of any. A much easier plastic alternative would be the Choc box of Dragons Den fame... a lot easier than tupperware/pencil sharpeners as its designed for holding any sort of wired coupling etc
  17. Did you get the TT seats? Get them in so you can take it for a spin easily I reckon :)
  18. Cheers for the coolant advice jim, its at the garage getting MOT'd so they are having a peek, it could be a small leak above the oil cooler but they will let me know. The smoked lights on dgarwood's car do make the rear look pretty damn good, in line with the plate surround like you said. I've never really been a fan of smoked lights tho when they mean your indicators/brakes etc dont light up properly for other drivers. You could go for clear side repeaters with iridium bulbs which look all silver, or even clear LED jobbies that are silver effect too, but the silver might be too stand out on your red paintwork.
  19. Posts like this make it all too clear I'm a beginner, where have you picked up your know how? Think I may have a coolant problem too but I don't know my header from my rad. :) (not literally...) PS the car looks great, esp considering where you saved it from
  20. I left getting my alarm sorted for so long that these guys have now closed up and the site is now a take off of Nando's... Any other good fitters in the manchester area? I noticed the one mentioned in Macclesfield... must be something closer tho!
  21. Think someone may have some originals for me but if not its golf mk5's instead! Cheers
  22. The centre console looks great mate, might try it some time!
  23. Wow, those $55 ones are listed on the site as top sellers, who on earth is paying that for them?! I am short of two boot straps as well, there's lots of good options here, did anyone fit one of the options successfully?
  24. i know you found the keys now but isn't that one of those locks that can be opened in 7 seconds with a butter knife? Google it! :D
  25. they're really smart, well impressive you got em looking that good. and yeah, those back springs are low to say the least!! hot to trot
