  1. Youve just proved why an ST will hold its value better!!!!! IT SELLS LESS THAN A GTI! Any car that is not as common/popular will hold residual value better, hence the Corrado. If the Corrado was sold as much as a Mk3 Golf, it'd be worth peanuts, and wouldnt have the following (us) that it does! I think the Focus is a great car, so to the Golf. But I also think the ST will be a better bet in the long run, financially anyway. Oh, and when they bring out the 300+ BHP Focus RS.......................
  2. I reckon its your alt! Just cos its new means nothing mate! I had a new one that would add voltage for each rev that was added!!! Stick a voltmeter across the terminals with the car running. Around 14v DC should be good. If it fluctuates, up or down, then the bushes may be buggered.
  3. PS I'm glad in a way, cos its f*cking superb now
  4. Im defo not the bringer of good news, and I hope its not the same!!! But, look at the link in my signature! I bought my car about a year ago, and there was a dodgy "tappety" sound going on. I really couldnt work it out, and the VW "specialist" up here couldnt either (not really a specialist, just claims it, w*nker!!), but when I took it to PSI Tuning, Andy Walker said straight away that it was bottom end knocking! I left him to take the sump off and have a look. The engine was rebuilt "off the books" by the previous owner, and the cowboys who did it, knew f*ck all about a VR engine! They changed 5 of 6 shells, and left the one that "looked ok"! I have pics on my pc, and will get them tomorrow for you. It all sounds very similar mate, sorry. I really hope its not. I got a quote for recon the engine of just over £2k - real job this time, or £2500 (give or take) to get a 24v 4motion engine, and then sell the old 12v for spares. I think you may be able to tell what I did ;) I really hope for your wallets sake its not the same but, if it is, give me a shout and I'll give you as much info/advice that i have learned. Good luck ;)
  5. Elaborate please sir?! If its related to accelerator pedal, thne yes it could be the cause, but if its brake pedal, then nothing has changed, but obviously that doesnt rule it out. Im not too sure if he has checked that??
  6. According to auto express a few months back, the ST will hold its residual better than the Golf. Personally I think the new Golf still looks a bit bland :( Bring on the new Scirocco/Corrado 8)
  7. Coxy did you get the MPG working on your MFA? Also, is the rev counter ok? Does it fluctuate at all? Mine does. Andy reckons the pulse may be different between the newer and older engines. That is what happens when a 1.8T gets fitted to a Mk2 and the old clocks used. There is a little pcb that can be bought for them. Anyone else know anything?
  8. Has anyone got any wiring diagrams for 1994 VR ABS? Apparently the one in the Bentley isnt the correct type A) because its american B) because the pump used on the VR wasnt used for long. I have an ABS light on my car, and the VAG com says the signal is out of tolerance. All sensors have been replaced to try and clear the fault, but to no avail, hence the need for the diagrams. Cheers 8)
  9. Theres a link for LEDs in the group buy section.
