Aw man that's bad luck, especially after how much you'd looked forward to getting a VR. at least it's nothing to serious, hope you get her sorted soon p.s. What did you think of the new car on first impressions? (before it broke) Hey Dan, hope ur good mate. Its getting sorted at the mo, ill have the car back next week once the mot/service is done too. The car was amazing before it broke, was alot better than i expected, smooth and refined yet pretty brutally quick upto 100ish. Check my thread! Sound deadening is a mission isn't it! Lolz. How much u doing?

Right, im calling the garage tommorow and asking them to take it off for me lol. I just realised that my bays missing the small black plastic cover that goes over the fans/rad so ive put up a 'wanted' for one of those. I cant think of much else, need to sort out the air filter area, its just a big, dirty empty space at the mo lol. What size is the VR6 Maf guys? 3" right?
-
Both, i want to polish everything... Its probably easy but the cars at the garage right now so cant take a look... can u tell im planning an all out detailing assault on it soon? Cheers Ben, thats what i did with my valver, came up pretty decent.

Dark burgundy pearl buddy, pics dont show it off at plus it was filthy... my mk3 daily that i had for a while was twilight violet, lovely colour too!

Hi guys, just bought a VR yesterday and tbh the bay just looks soo damn messy, so have you guys got any tips as to what i can do on a budget to tidy up the way it looks? Im not after any specific look here, just want it to be neater without the wires looking such a mess etc. Also, how do u remove the stupid plastic cover around the inlet? Pic of my bay... Thanks, Abdul

Yup, i should have it back early next week. Ill try to get it detailed that weekend but i doubt ill get the chance... I am gutted in a sense because i would like to be out driving it but at the same time i know its a common fault and i was going to drop the car off for a general check up/service/mot next week anyway. I guess i dont mind so much because i know when i get it back it'l be running as it was for the first 3hours i had it lol. Ur about to get another pm btw...

Thanks fella, cant wait to get it back so i can start work on it.. Danny, i think its more down to your tyres and launch abilities tbh...

funny how the same cars can feel so different, even though they are mass produced by robots - I mean its not like we are talking about handbuilt GTR's !! Might go some way to explaining why some car mags have differing views every now and again.[/quote:101nrjhz] Very true, if i remember correctly, Autocar timed the Vr at 6.2 seconds for 0-60 which is a fair bit quicker than book figures!

Yup they're the smoked rear that Skills is talkin about but i dont think they'll suit the car... N yup its a K&N, an older one i think... Either way ill be getting rid of it soon for something bigger! Cheers for the comments Danny, this is what im saying, mine seems to carry on hard untill 6.5k, i havent bothered to hold it for any longer. Sounds like it wants to keep going too! Im convinced its been chipped or something, god knows!

Not today but yesterday... Bought me a Dark burgundy pearl vr6 to replace my ice grey valver.... drove back to london from birmingham and broke down. Crack pipe gone... waited for aa till nearly 2am... What i did today, had the rado towed to a garage... broke the splitter doing so!

A pic of me driving the car up the not so low loader earlier today... Btw, how much do u guys reckon the eyebrow is worth? I have no clue as to what make it is or anything but its in good nick but idealy wants repainting... and yes the pic is upside down lool.

when the noise from your BMC starts making the interior trim resonate ;) :D Haha, i couldnt hear any trim rattles over my open filter! The original question doesn't apply to you though, you have shrick goodies!!! :luvlove:

Ok im not a mechanical dude, whats happened here?

Skills, im awfully tempted, if u still have them this time next week i might pop round to try em on if thats ok? I did decide on all reds for this but if the smokes look good ill have em! Has, thanks for the tips ill ask the garage to do it... If not im comin round next week for sure   Matt black wheels wont suit the colour me thinks so going to have to say no to those, thanks though! Btw, fellow VR owners, at what point do u feel is best to change gears in terms of revs? I'd read that vr's dont have much more past 5.5-6k but i found that mine pulls like a mofo upto 6.5 in the first 3 gears and well i havent tested 4th and 5th yet :norty:

Thanks fella, where abouts in london are u based?? I'm near Oval in the centre of town. Dont mind a bit of a drive to a meet though! Would be good... could we take all the cars for a little drive after aswell... it would be musical!!! :luvlove:
-
Thats pretty much the plan, need some beige doorcards too!! You got any interesting wheels stashed away that i might want to buy?? I wanted to ask, is the idle supposed to be a little rough?? the previous owner cleaned/replaced the ISV a couple of times recently and its still idling around 600 rpm and even then is a little bit dodgy, nothing too noticable though, i just stalled it twice yesterday  Meet sounds good, was talking to Zak about buying his off him but wanted to view this first as it was my preffered colour combo. 8)

Thanks dude... i just want to get it back and start driving it!!!

Well, i picked up the VR yesterday from Worcesteshire (mind my spelling lol)... No pics right now, just a few from the sale, will have to wait till next week for fresh ones... Drove back through wembley and then on the A406 got stuck in stand still traffic. My temps were all perfect and then the traffic cleared so i hammered it out round the bend, next thing i knew water light was flashing so i pulled over asap. Had a good look under the bonnet once the smoke cleared and the bit of the crackpipe that connects to the U hose tore itself clean off the crackpipe! So now, no fluid and its 9.30pm, called the AA, now despite me tellin em i need a flat bed they sent a normal tow truck at 11.30, then i had to wait again untill 1.30 for the flat bed to come... The cars now been towed to Torque exhausts in enfield to have the pipe sorted and anything else they find and an mot too... I cracked the stupid 90mm splitter getting it up the ramps but oh well! I hate the thing anyway. Before this drama had taken the place the car was driving really really well... I know what everyone means now about stepping up from a valver to a vr, its soo much smoother and refined but sounds the absolute dogs when u give it some... The cars spec: Dark burgundy pearl paint Beige storm interior (minus doorcards) longlife cat back exhaust K&N induction kit FK Konigsport coilys You can see the eyebrow in the following pics but ive taken it off now The pics were sent to me by the previous owner and the cars a bit dirty etc so bare with me till next week for better shots!! The last few owners have been members on this forum, i think it changed hands about 4 times between 2004 and 2008 which put me off but the historys really good and its in pretty decent nick. The chains dont seem noisy, pulls like a train, i mean im convinced its got more done to it but i dont know what as ive driven vr's before and tbh this is a bit quicker! Plans: Get the car back from garage in good working order Sort out the paint as every arch has surface rust and the bonnet is chipped to f*ck but the rest of the body is SUPER straight, i mean the paint is gorgeous and i was struggling to find any major imperfections bar the standard corrado orange peel. Detail it Fit my projector lamps (will be going chrome rather than black) Get some all red rears Buy some wheels/install a *light* stereo set up Drive the crap out of it. If after all this is done i have any money left i would like to get some cams and redo all the bushes etc. So, all in all, yup im dissapointed that the crackpipe went on me on the day i bought the car but tbh, its something that was going to go sooner or later and i planned on dropping it off at Torque exhausts next week anyway. Did i mention how nice the drive is? :D

When would u need payment? Can someone photoshop some 17" mo's onto a rado?
-
Blimey, i cant beleive i missed this thread!! Amazing work fella... How the hell are u insuring it at 17/18?
-
Toe maybe?
-
Ok all this turbo talk is too confusing for me  No one's allowed to touch my cars paint let alone rub it so all is good and Kev, you're right, there is some odd legality surrounding it. Supercharged, is that on ur tdi? Surely it'll still be pretty quiet but with tonnes of turbo spool noise?
-
They're not my payment was refunded absolutely aggggggggggges ago!
-
Cheers mate, will do...
