-
why you thinking of going the turbo route and not supercharging it? not being negative about your choices, just wondering! still looking damn fine mate, every time i see your car i like it more, s'lovely!
-
dubweiser, where abouts in the NE are you? i've seen a white C around sunderland a few times!

my respray cost me £700 and i got loads of dents taken out too, its not the best job in the world, you can see some spray lines in stong sunlight, but generally it looks spot on. i got quoted anywhere between £1500 and £500, but decided to go with the guy who had a newish jag parked outside waiting for work and as proof of the quality of his work he showed me his newly sprayed escort RST which looked spotless. my advice is to see their work before you part with the cash, just because they're a bit cheaper doesnt mean they're crap, they might just have lower overheads! if you look in my member gallery you can see the work i got done for the price! click the 'take a look' link in my sig.

not too long though, you dont want it going pop!

ok, i'm part way through lowering my C 40mm (one sides done!) from looking at the front theres less than an inch between the top of the tyre and the arch 8) which is what i wanted! but... i'd like the wheels to sit flush with the edge of the arches so i got some 6mm spacers, looking at it now i'm wondering if, over a large bump, the wheels going to make contact with the arch and end in a world of pain! the suspension is a 'lowering' kit and not much stiffer than the OE stuff (me = cheapskate) any advice?

had a simular thing when I crashed my astra, i was offered 7k for an 11 month old are that cost me 12k new...now thats depreciation! just keep at it mate, i hounded the hell out of the poor guy that was assessing my claim. You're doing all the right things, send them loads of examples of prices etc and just dont back down! this sounds a bit of a cop out to me .... "back into the position you were (sic) prior to the claim" which surely means to sort you out a car the same as you had, or at least the cash to buy one, reguardless of how much you paid for it! by their standards if you were given the car as a gift and paid nothing for it, you'd get nothing if you crashed it! balls to that!

what model number are the 6x9's?
-
tough choice, two of my favorite wheels on a C, just the borbets came up on ebay first!
-
not really! £140 plus 2 new tyres at £60 a pop, £260 all in, if I'd got them all off henny at £45 each i'd need 4 new tyres, making it £420 all in!
-
jimbo, I paid £140 for a set of 4 with two good tyres and a fair bit of kerbing, but i dont think the guy really knew how much they were worth! bought a good clean one off henny for £45 without a tyre, which is still cheap IMO!
-
jimsG60 I found out exactly how much force they go with when i dropped some spare change down the side of the seat, got out of the car to look for it and pulled the handle with my head in the way, knocked me on my ar$e!

I only ever use BP ultimate unless i'm really really desperate!

My C's got a nasty habbit of pinking under heavy throttle, not all the time, and not massivly, but its still there and its worrying me! i've got a custom exhaust and the air filter is a K&N, with about six 2cm holes drilled in the side of the airbox (some of which have been taped up in case they were causing the problem) I've read henny saying the engine has a tendancy to pink, but how much is 'normal' and when should i start to worry about something being wrong? I've also not reset the ECU since fitting the filter, would it be worth doing that? (diconnect the battery for 10mins - cup of tea - reconnect and go for a drive, correct?) ta!

being single helps! well....kind of!

mines on 98k when i got it just over a year ago it was on 76k! I'm always in two minds about mileage, for a g plater it was pretty low when i got it so half of me wants to preserve that, but as its my only car and i love driving it....

modified corrado storm---DIY---buying & selling
chrishill replied to trebor's topic in General Car Chat
hell yes! the majority of the engineering behind the C is at least 14 years old (probably an arguable point...) so things like the suspension, while good as stock, benifit from 'updating'. You can retain the standard look but use upgraded parts, for example fit better shocks and springs, but dont get lowering springs. personally i dont see anything wrong with modifying any car, with the exception of a campagin. sure the storm is rare, but so long as the cosmetic mods are reversable once it comes to selling it, i say go for it. -
There was an article on the news yesterday about compulsory training for mechanics and they gave the name of some organisation you can complain to if you;re not happy with any work yuo have done, bit like trading standards, someone on here might know who they are but i cant remember! its shocking a main dealer can firstly charge silly money for the job, then f**k it up so badly!

forums playing up! sorry about posting that 3 times! :?

'dual' carrageway, I overtook him at 70-80 then had to slow down at which point he was all over my back bumper until the road cleared a little and we had a bit of fun :) looking at parkers.co.uk andy, its saying the 2.0 is 103BHP, thats got to be a mistake hasn't it? I hope its more like 130, then i can regain a little pride!
-
without wanting to start off another corrado vs thread, i had a bit of a race with a guy in one of these on the way to work this morning, from the badge on the back it was a TS2, and he diidn't seem to go away as quickly as i thought considering they're only about 105bhp! parkers quotes the 0-60 at 8.7sec which is pretty rapid for a car with that BHP, so i'm thinking they maybe have a fair bit of torque and thats how he 'almost' kept up? either that or my C's broken!
-
looking very good! I'd be interested to know how you get on with the parrot, i bought one at christmas last year and couldnt get the fecker to work for love nor money!
-
cheers, as long as i know they're seperate items they (hopfully) wont be too hard to track down, that said, if they discontinued the late ones, they've probably done the same to the early ones!

just dont let anyone smoke in or around the car!
