  1. nice one boys! looking forward to seeing what a team effort brings and Gaz, nice move on the gift-for-the-missus front.
  2. probably to do with the rarity of storms, there arent that many about and they command a higher price than identical spec, same age 'standard' VR's. The insurance company are probably looking at how much it'd cost to buy another Storm and how hard they are to find. £1200 is VERY cheap for a 20 y/o with 1 year NCB! I was 25/26 when I had the VR and it was costing me close to that with 2 years NCB.
  3. depends on the offset and width of the alloy rather than the tyre size, and also which model corrado you own. if its the valver in your pic, and your wheels are say et35 and 7.5" wide, a 5-6mm spacer would see them sitting nicely in the arches.
  4. Getting no bites on m'golf on any of the forums I posted it on, well, one guy on e38 who only has a grand to spend... other than that, nothing. its on the trader website too and i've had nowt off that. getting desperate to shift it now, so I was thinking about sticking it on ebay but i'm a little dubious about selling a car on there. I've sold plenty of other stuff, but nothing of this value. anyone got any success stories? tips and advice? general info?
  5. spike16vgte, you've come onto a corrado forum... what answer did you expect other than 'buy a corrado' :) only one way to find out which you want, try a few for yourself. If you're even considering a corrado you must have looked at the positives, as for how it compares to the calibra turbo I couldnt say, simular power probably sees them even in a stirght line dash but the corrado was, and still is, thought of as one of the best handling coupes of the 90's. I'm sure the calibra was good in its day, its certainly no slouch and it does look quite nice... but the corrado is better ;)
  6. for the effort/money involved it just doesnt seem worth it to me. First off, putting a 20ish year old engine into a 8 year old car doesnt sound like a good plan unless its going to get fully rebuilt so you KNOW its rock solid (unless of course its already been rebuilt) thats going to cost you. Then you've got fitting it, which fair enough isnt going to dent your wallet tot he tune of thousands if you're DIYing it, but its still not going to be cheap... dread to think how much it'd cost if you're going to get a garage to do it. personally I think theres better routes to take if theres an engine swap on the cards, I know a 1.8 16v sounds appealing if you're used to a 1.4, but it really is a lot of effort for a car that'll be pushing 140bhp when finished. I think the time/money could be better spent to get bigger power. just my 2p
  7. ouch. glad you're ok though, sounds like you were very lucky there. I was tucking into a turkey and mustard sandwich when paul's nips appeared on screen, did put me off a bit ;)
  8. clarkson would be proud! top marks for originality, i wouldnt do it (imagine the looks you'd get down tescos doing the weekly shop) but its amusing therefore worth while!
  9. would fit in the rear though, with the back seats gone... RWD v8 raddo anyone? :D
  10. well, having followed a few links to a website with a rather long video on it, i'm left unconvinced. 'if' i were to take the video at face value i'd be sitting here amazed, but theres so many holes to pick in it I just can't see it being real. at one point they put 'negativly charged water' into a balloon, burst it with a lighter and the water sets alight... although theres no proof it is actually water, it could be anything! I dont know enough physics to decypher the jargon, but to a layman it looks a little far fetched, especially given the conspiracy theories that surround it and the supposed NSA intervention.
  11. where abouts on the A1 are they going up mate? near you? I've not noticed any erections while driving recently.
  12. nice one Paul, I knew Mcdonalds would knocking one of these days! ;)
  13. I had a good old rant about TV a week or so ago, for the most part its drivel with no substance what-so-ever. Goldfish TV, watch it and forget. Its a sad state of affairs when the next day the main topic of conversation in the office kitchen (other than 'wheres the milk') is who got voted out of the current voyeristic overhyped 'text your vote' cash cow, and how it should have been some other tallentless dolt instead. The BBC, at one time, operated under the motto 'educate, inform and entertain' which sounds like the ideal program to me, disapointingly few TV programs on any of the channels meet those criteria though, they're taking the 'chewing gum for the eyes' statement to an extreme.
  14. its not unusual for stores to put stock back on the shelves after its returned, the fact that bits are missing and theres damage to the unit is pretty damn poor though. Are there no indipendant audio stores near you? failing that, try http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk http://www.letsbuycaraudio.co.uk or http://www.cel-direct.com
  15. I quite enjoied it, Gambon was entertaining, a much better interviewee than most of the people they normally have on.. the homosexual thing had be in stiches, as did james may in lycra. Loved the sound of the p2, didnt like the styling though. aimed at the max power lot I think. BTW - 16v - that sigs not great for office forum viewing!
  16. fancy having a bash at a homebrew version of the p2's diff system then coxy? I dont think accelerometers are 'too' expensive ;)
  17. f***ing w**kers! if they write it off, buy it back and use the rest of the cash to get it back to its former glory, its not like its been crashed or anything so structurally it'll be sound
  18. just read the rollsroyce comment, planning a rallye wedding car?
  19. ah nice, be good to see a g-works fettled rallye. I guess they're a bit too rare to go too far with, then again, they dont really need much to look special do they!
  20. just a thought but behind the dash might be a bit of a nightmare if something goes wrong and you need access. probably wont happen very often and you being you it'd probably only take you 20mins to whip the dash out ;)
  21. funny thing is, at 165mph you're not over taking the other cars 'that' quickly (or it doesnt look that way in the video). Does everyone on the autobahn just floor it? I guess I would if i lived there! Nice work all the same, glad to see you enjoying it! "get in! off the clock!" :D
  22. love it. bimmers, driven correctly, are awesome machines. Its a bit of a shame they've become a status symbol and are underapreciated as drivers cars by most people. Photos are well nice too, wide angle lens I think... might be something I'll invest in for my digicam since they're not that pricey!
  23. [insert your own joke about sloppy seconds] :D
