  1. Tom's is still one of the nicest paintjobs I've seen (well, virtually ;)) and since its now S/C'd its one step better. Pau1's Oak green S/C'd VR, because the colour looks factory, the wheel look stunning and its got a hairdryer under the bonnet. No up-to-date photos, but H8RRA has something special under his bonnet which hes not showing off enough! a 3.1 supercharged VR with a 6 speed box and LSD.
  2. IMO it comes down to the style of the wheel, some 18's work, some dont.

    condensation

very good tip RW1, I'll have to pop up to b&q for one of their moisture traps. I think the condensation in the car is simply down to the fact that its been standing unused for a while and the moisture inside hasnt had much chance to escape rather than anything untoward.

    condensation

Anyone got any readers-digest style tips on removing condensation from inside my car? its bad enough to leave pretty big drips on the inside of the windscreen! I've got a half remembered memory of something to do with a plastic bottle?
  5. cool, thanks guys. so I'm safe to just pop the center off with the battery disconnected? might do it from the side, while standing outside the car...just in case! one airbag so i'll take the bulb out :)
  6. first of the 'sorry, its not a corrado' posts from me :) I'll try and keep them to a minimum, just I know you lot will know this. I'm going to put my momo s/wheel on the mk3, but its got an airbag, I dont fancy it going off in my face really so does anyone know how to deactivate it and safely remove it? ta!
  7. well...it could do with getting run in ;)
  8. pics added to the first post. Needs a good clean and T-cut in some places where bird poo has been left on the paint, half a gallon of back to black and a good polish! Its only done a few hundred miles this year and has been standing the rest of the time which shows on the window rubbers, they've got moss on them in some places! :? spot of sunday morning TLC and it'll be right as rain. :)
  9. I was going off what I was told when I rang the DVLA in a flap becuase I needed to renew the TAX on my VR just after I bought it, but my documents hadnt come through from the insurance company yet. The guy told me I'd be fine so long as I got it sorted within 14 days, that was about 8-9 months ago.
  10. bet it didnt cost them £1975 to fix it either!
  11. £25! how much did the garage have it up for? or do you mean you took it off their hands for £25?
  12. true enough, it just seems like there are more accepted routes to take with the corrado to make it individual. maybe i've not spent as much time looking at golf as i have corrados and cant see the subtle tweeks yet. I think I'm just pining after a corrado TBH, nothings going to come up to standard!
  13. the only problem I can see so far is that there seems to be a very 'set' path when it comes to modding the mk3. colour code it, remove the GTI arches, lower it over 17's and slap on a badgeless grille. Admittedly it does look nice, but it seems like everyones done it
  14. Cheers Struan, I'm going to have a look/think over the weekend while I'm cleaning the car and see what ideas i can come up with :)
  15. yep, they need a good clean up and a polish which I can do over xmas, I'm also toying with trying to sand out the kerb marks from the accident myself, since the local wheel refurb place (S.E.M) said they couldnt do them due to plastic bolts! need to fund a suspension drop too before they go on, which is why so many bits of the VR are popping up on ebay and on here for sale! examples of mk3s on AG's http://www.edition38.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=24196 love the white one in the petrol station, although i think they may need spacing judging by the black one, since they dont stick out as far as I'd like :)
  16. yup phil, thats right. I see your point, the g/f wont be driving it, or at least its unlikely she will, but even so keeping the spare is probably a good idea. I've still got all the gear out of my VR, I just didnt want to be messing on taking a big sub-box in and out of the boot when I needed extra room. suppose the goofs boot is bigger than the corrados so it might not be such a problem!
  17. cool! thats sort of the effect I was after, which is why I thought about mounting it in the spare wheel well... although maybe without the 'vw' logo ;) loosing 12cm (or so) depth in the boot wouldnt be too much of a problem and it'd leave enough room under the false floor for the amp to sit. how much are those subs/boxes going for Struan?
  18. hmm, i've had the sub a while, its just a cheap jobby and i dont have the specs for it anymore. Useful links though! ta! not sure I'll be taking the fibreglass route, the effort would be worth it I guess. I think i might make a false-floor with somewhere to hide the amp and a cutout area for the sub-box I already have to live in... more thought needed i feel!
  19. sorry to revive this thread, just looked on ebay for gliptone stuff and nearly had a heart attack when this image popped up on my screen... its NOT what it first looks like!
  20. so i guess a nice upgrade for any 2.8 owners would be a 2.9 manifold!
  21. I was thinking about false boot floors for sub/amp installs last night and remembered talk of people using their spare wheel-well as a sub enclosure. How is this done? do you not need a certain volume in the enclosed space to avoid damaging the speaker or is that a myth? Just thinking up options for retaining boot space while still having a sub/amp and not wanting to spend a fortune on audioscape enclosures...although they are very nice!
  22. yup rodders, first thing i checked! actually, the rear lock button sticks (just needs grease) so that could be all the excuse I need to get a CS one :D
  23. you get 2 weeks 'grace' after your tax runs out, dont panic dude!
  24. WTF is mr miagi trying to teach him there?!?!
  25. nah, all i want is to lower it over the 17's I already have, and possibly pop on a debadged grille, I wont take it any further than that becuase the stuff I'd want to do styling-wise isnt cheap! I'd like to colour-code it all and remove the gti arches and boot spoiler, but it aint going to happen this lifetime!
