  1. makes sense in a way, if they dont do the insurance work they lose the contracts where as they know you cant do anything once your cars stripped and jacked 10ft in the air... its a sh*t trick to pull all the same
  2. if i'd done that where I park my car it'd have rolled back into a concrete bollard! yes, i know now i should always leave it in gear :)
  3. about a week after I think, but yeah, parked within 20ft of where I'd been! lucky for him that 20ft difference meant the incline was slightly less and it didnt go far!
  4. totally agree kev, that law is one of the daftest things I've heard, I didnt know they were changing it. I didnt realise it was an offence to keep up with an emergency vehicle, obviously if its parting the traffic like Moses and the red sea, you cant dive into the gap after him, but on an empty road, if you keep up with one you can be prosecuted! Found that out when nosky had his funny turn and I 'kept up' with the ambulance in his skyline ;)
  5. nah kev, I feel like a prize tw@ for not making sure my handbrake was on properly, even though the same thing has happened to a few people and been blamed on hot brake disc's cooling down etc, i know if i'd pulled it just that 'little' bit harder I'd not be in this position now. accidents happen though, sadly. I openly admit I'm a sh*t driver, and if i didnt my g/f would make sure everyone knew anyway!
  6. rolled it?? not quite mate, it rolled away! I didnt do a barrel roll ;)
  7. well, it went to the insurance company's salvage yard of choice yesterday, sadly. it 'should' appear on this site at some point in case anyone interested in taking/breaking it! the engine is still sound, interior spot on, set of 4 good speedlines on it... oh and a working MAF  http://www.hbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/zyview/D=vehicles/V=category/ALIVE_STATUS=alive/ZV_AND_OR=and
  8. http://www.pepipoo.com might be of more help ;)
  9. WARNING! always ensure your handbrake is sufficently applied! sorry, this might disturb some people with weak consitutions... http://www.chris-hill.co.uk/wordpress/lazy-index.php?file=vr6%20accident/ sample pic below.
  10. its due to speedo inacuracy, dont they say 10% over or under is acceptible? I'm sure 33 in a 30 is the cut-off point
  11. hehe! looks like hennys multi-wheeled monster! what you all need is some of those float thingys they tie to boats to stop them cracking the hulls when they're docking, much more classy than a rubber ring!
  12. aye, its a sad fact that these cars are now worth so little, and the parts so expensive, that a small knock or scrape can result in a write-off. according to the engineer who inspected mine, a new rear bumper was about 1/5th the value they'd placed on my car! FFS!
  13. i reckon a 'proper' bodyshop will want to replace that rear 1/4 rather than fix it, which could be expensive! wouldnt think it'd get written off though, and at least it not your insurance paying for it! (the lorry driver did own up didnt he?)
  14. sucks mate, bodyshops ALWAYS take longer than they quote, but thats taking the micky big-time! I'd let your g/f loose on the manager and make sure you get it back quick-sharp!
  15. "matthewb1985" no offence, i saw your username and thought - holy poo he must be about 12! not that I'm much older than you but 1985 seems fairly recentl to me! showing my age now, your car looks lovely and clean :)
  16. and a C interior to a TVR? worth a try!
  17. ooo the mk3 i mentioned above has done 78k, 'spotless' leather according to the guy, only problem at the mo is no tax and the imobilisers disconnected... i'm dribbling already.
  18. tis a mk3 mr pasty, oakys are mk2's are they not? got to agree though, looks well smart on a mk2. Theres a mk3 8v gti with heated leather I've got my eye on at the moment, if not that, a petrol-blue (not sure of vw name!) mk2 16v which is more money, but looks sweet-as-a-nut.
  19. aye, its his daily driver...this isnt a trailer princess ;) hard to beleive!
  20. link text here [ / url ] without the spaces! cheers paul, i'll have a look.
  21. heh, well played mate. ta for the reminder (however unintentional) about ad-trader too, there looks to be a corking 8v gti on there...
  22. especially since you just missed out paul, what a bar-steward. tell the old dear who sold it what hes done and get her to ring and tell him exactly how much pension money she gets and ask if he feels big profiting from an old lady.
  23. cheers steve! given that info I dont think it was the real deal since it was rhd not lhd! it was on autotrader this morning but seems to have vanished since! they must've updated. :( looked like a tidy mk2 for £500 all the same, just wanted to know if the 'wolfsburg' golf was like the 'karmann' corrado ;)
  24. done in 2 weeks! did it take the 60 hours you estimated? if so thats serious comitment! big respect for the graft thats gone into that
  25. aye, i asked over at edition38 and they reckon its just a normal mk2 badged up  some people!
