  1. I thought it was just the needle too jim, but the extra functions on the mfa confirm its in the right place since they show the same rpm output.
  2. yeah, chris vr6nos thought it was chipped, but we took the ecu appart and....its not! suppose that only leaves a buggered rev counter in the clocks... arse :( I think Chris did something very much like that using his multimeter thingy, when i held the revs at 2k, it showed 1300 from whatever sensor it was he was measuring.
  3. odd one this, both the rev dial and the mfa extra funtions show the car revving WAY higher than it should... sadly on checking the engine speed sensor neither of them are accurate. anyone got any ideas why they might be reading wrong? (camera phone vid, should play in quicktime) -edit- link to an avi for those who cant see the 3gp avi version
  4. my quick attempt, i moved the 'break' in the paint down so it follows the sweep in the body of the car, added a subtle cream line between the green and the black, tinted the rear lights black and fiddled with the wheels for ages but couldnt get them right!

    DB7

at the very least he'd have about 335bhp on tap, 435 if it was a v12... i'd say he wasnt really trying! always fun to try and punch above your weight though :D
  6. got chris vr6nos to come over and see if he could work out why my car has hicups, which we totally failed to do. On two test runs it ran perfectly, something its not done for the past two or three weeks! typical! checked the MAF, lambda and a host of other wires/connections/sensors and all seems well. also discovered my rev counter is reading way out for some reason, meaning I have a VR that revs to 8500 :?
  7. mine caught the arches with spacers on, but are fine without, i'd imagine the ET27 will catch at the front, not sure on the rears. as for the carriers, the only reason you have to grind them with the AG cups is because of the spokes, not sure on the turborads...
  8. looks pretty tame really, i'm not impressed with the looks of the mk5 at all. that grille looks like its edging towards audi's brand-standard open mouthed fish look...

    how low?

the harsh ride could be down to a large drop on stock shocks, they're just not designed to be used with short springs so wont cope too well. uprated shocks would probably help, most people say koni top adjustable shocks with H&R springs are the perfect combination, although that setup is a bit pricey. as for the ideal ride height, its all down to your preferance! mines dropped 60mm which i personally think looks just about right, not too low to be totally impractical but still looks good and improves handling.
  10. hi mate, mine are et32, as neil says the fronts need the caliper carriers grinding down to fit or you could fit some spacers like i tried, but i found they wobbled like mad. good choice though! :D ordered mine from style dynamix and paid just shy of a grand for them with cheapo tyres, there was a toyo option but i was over budget as it was ;)
  11. really... you should know better
  12. aye, the v6 looks a damn sight better... but then for about £1500 you can get a v6 bodykit if you really want one. never been the biggest fan of clios, but theres something about the v6 that just makes you want one, even if its not everything you'd like it to be.
  13. i always thought it was a bit odd they brought out the 182 when the mk1 v6 was 230bhp and the mk2 is 255bhp, sure theres more torque but i'm fairly sure you (or rather renault) could've slapped a turbo or s/c on a 182 and had something that out performs the v6 in all applications, still, got to admire renault for having a bash at something interesting!
  14. you'd go through a ton of hornby modeling glue making that thing
  15. typical TVR planning then, wonder how many times they took the prototype out on the track before they smashed a windscreen with flying road debris?
  16. That new TVR had some very cool looking vents in the front wings that opened up at speed until the russian guy got hold of the company and started listening to customers... I dont remember the exact reason they changed the design but JC mentioned it on top gear the other week. K.I.T.T had some serious active aero's!

    De-Cat

simple solution to that... early valvers dont have cats mate! :D
  18. IIRC i paid around £25 for mine, but i dont remember any instuctions... i got mine fitted by the bodyshop when they resprayed the car and they just bonded the eyebrow along the top of the lights and grille. I dont think i've ever heard of anyone having a 'sagging' problem with that style of eyebrow and from the looks of things once it was on, the fit was pretty snug. Q&A is what this sites all about matey
  19. I had one from GSF on my valver and it was pretty good quality, certainly as good (if not better) than the reiger brow/grille i've got in the shed.
  20. nice subtle sleeper! 250bhp in a lupo must be madness, wonder how the chassis copes?
  21. more like 50bhp down on VW's quoted figure of 190bhp then, but as sciroccotune says i dont think VW's figures are taken 'at the wheel'
  22. looks pretty smart, bargain for the money anyway since theres plenty of kit on it! (unless you added that stuff yourself? :?) have you still got the blue one?

    Roll Cage

back seats? nah mate, get yourself a no-compromise cage and a small hammock ;)

    Slim fast

perspex windows would help too, all that glass cant be light! it all adds up though, they may not be heavy on their own but a pile of doorcards topped with a carpet and a seasoning of plastic trim works out at a hefty lump for the engine to be dragging around.
