can i add to the instructions above that after you lacquer flat back with 1200 wet n dry to get rid of orange peel or they will never look factory. then bring shine back with polish of your choice - I used t-cut, then scratch-x then megs gold class they should look like this then: also the green bulb route is pants. first they don't really shine through that orange, second they are dim and third the quality of the ones available is also pants - the set i got had uneven green paint meaning the light was not even. LED ones are MUCH better in brightness and colour. just make sure you get the ones with LEDs all around them

nice - love the wheels looks like you guys got the Seat Ibiza version of the polo out there?
-
you make it sound so quick and easy!
-
really? the idea of that scares me - surely the chances of snapping of a needle on the way out is quite high if you do that?
-
looks good - great colour that, especially combined with red tails. for some reason your de-wipered rear really stands out - i think I am gonna have to do that mod!

i've lowered the steering wheel but thats not the issue as i haven't got it out far enough yet for that to be getting in the way! my problem is getting it to clear the dash aperture itself as it seems to be being held back by something. is there enough slack behind for me to yank it a bit further or am I going to need to try and unplug cables first?

car is 1.8 valver so early clocks and yes I have done a search :D I've removed all the screws (6 in total) and have a loose cluster in the dash - my problem is how do I actually get the bloomin thing out! I 'unhook' the bottom legs first and can tip the top of the cluster foward a bit but there is no way that the cluster is coming out of the dash. As far as I can see anyway! what am i missing - whats the trick to this! All posts I've read about this make out that removing the cluster is fairly straight forward so what am I doing wrong!? thanks in advance

just some of the 19 LED ebay specials - however they are not on the car yet as i still haven't got the load resistors to go with them. so atm using green bulbs. def gonna get the LEDs sorted though as they show much more amber than the green jobbies

done and on the car.a lot less hassle than I was expecting actually. they lined up fine and I even solved my weird reverse light issue - there was a disconnected ground wire. exactly the look i was hoping for. now just need to sort out the side repeaters. think I will go for smoked for them. using green bulbs for the indicators - not entirely happy with that has the light is only a slightly more orange red than the brake lights! also the quality of the green bulbs is poo. one has so much green paint on that it is much duller than the other. will have to try the LED one's I've got.

really recommend megs scratch-x - fantastic stuff will give you a great shine with no spider web / swirl marks.

i got some of the 'fake' aero type ones from ebay. initially not much good but after bending the wiper arms down towards the screen a bit they work beautifully, clear all of the screen and are nice and quiet. IMO worth giving the arms a bend to create more pressure before spending £80 on a new setup

made some progress over this week with my red rear lights project. so they were all sanded down and ready to go, got my savage red tinting spray (recommend this) and a tin of halfords clear lacquer after about 4 coats of tint (1200 flatted after 2 coats) left for 24 hours then put on 3 coats of lacquer waited 5 or so hours then took off the masking wasn't completely happy with the finish as there was some dull patches where the lacquer had misted on and there was some orange peel. so took the plunge and flatted back the lacquer with 1200 grit and the polished back to a lovely shine using first T-cut, then scratch-x then megs gold class. also got my green bulbs which I'm gonna try first for the imdicators - if thats no good I've also got some amber LED ones

love the wheels - i considered them when i was looking but couldn't quite picture them on a rado. good vision mate they look the tits quite some poke on the rear - surely your rubbing tyres or are the arches fettled?
-
is that just hammerite smooth? did you use primer? looks like a really great finish - might follow that method as seems a whole lot easier than how i was doing mine
-
is it a common occurance for the boot lights to not line up when removing then re-installing?
-
i've been refurbing some sebrings - to be honest its a pain in the arse and will end up being more expensive to do yourself than you think - especially if you stuff one up - like i have done. its quite satisfying to do yourself but annoying in equal measure!
-
to get the markings off use a sharp knife to get them started - i then used 600 then 800 grit. you don't need to go any finer than that to get a good finish with the paint and lacquer. leaving after 800 grit means a much better surface for paint to adhere to...
-
ok just to be sure cos i wasn't clear I mean should 1500 then T cut then SRP restore the shine taken away by the wet sanding ? mine look fine but if i can get them even better then i'll have a go!
-
will T cut then SRP do the job? I've got some G3 but that stuff scares me.
-
i finished mine yesterday also - yours look great. what if anything did you use to give them a final polish up? i have a few duller patches on mine where the lacquer misted on - i'm thinking some T-Cut or SRP should sort it..

i believe they are custom ones made from Audi A4 headlights.... something along those lines anyway, pretty sure they are not off the shelf

To remove the cluster. Drop your steering to the lowest setting. 4 screws hold the clocks plastis surround in place. 2 on the bottom, 1 in each corner behind the slim plastic covers (if still present). Be careful in removing the covers as they can snap in half. Ease them off gently. 2 on the top on the 'roof' of the plastic surround. Get your head down, look up and you'll see them. Now remove the plastic suround. 2 more screws, 1 each side near the top corners. Once removed pull the top of the clocks towards you. They will be seated in place at the bottom by 2 'pins'. Pull your right hand side out first and look at the back of the clocks. You will see the wiring loom and a small vacuum hose. The loom is also cable tied to the steering column surround metalwork in two places. You can either remove the loom from the clocks with the clocks half out of the dash or cut the cable ties and pull the clocks out before removing the loom. Think that's it. All from memory so sorry if I missed a bit. Good luck. excellent - thanks for that - my job for the weekend will have a look on vortex to see if i can find that thread

I wasn't looking for opinions - as i said I like them (which is what counts) and I just wanted to know how owners 'manage' their use of them. i've read plenty of threads which are fuller of lovers and haters of them. thought this might be a useful thread for users to share experience

 yes yes we are talking about bras - calm down children  i am thinking fully load the bonnet with lots of wax - and looks like leave it off at weekends to let the paint breath. bonnet needs a spray anyway, so until then I won't be overly distraught if the bra causes any chaffing anywhere. reason i asked colour of car is that i've read certain colours are more susceptable (sp?) to damage through using one of these?
-
ok peeps I've just got myself a bra as a) I think they look cool and b) my daily journey involves a dual carriage ways and I don't want any*more* stone chips. so my question is what are peoples weekly / monthly rituals with their bras. I'd like to leave it on as much as poss but don't want to ruin the paint by leaving it on too long. 1) what colour is your car? 2) have you suffered ill effects to your paint by using one, if so was it rectifiable with a polish and wax? 3) how long to you leave it on for in one go? 4) what do you do to your bonnet before fitting it, wash, what type of wax etc? 5) how do clean your bra? 6) anything else that might be useful! thanks in advance - hopefully this might grow into a fairly useful resource of info on corrado underwear!
