Having made a pretty light show by spraying my coil pack, I've decided I need a new one. There are a few options though; does anybody have an opinion on the best one? I'm leaning towards the Beru from vwspares as this is what most people seem to end up with, but I'm curious why the Bremi one from ECP is so much more expensive? http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1994/p/car-parts/engine-parts/ignition1/ignition-coil/?413440250 http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1994/p/car-parts/engine-parts/ignition1/ignition-coil/?413440251 http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=647 http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Switch-Unit-TCI-T4-2-8-01-96-04-02-021905106_act_shop.product_pID_102756891_lang_EN_country_GB.htm

I've been tubeless for probably about 5 years now. I remember getting 2 punctures in that time. Do it.
-
I would knock some of the rust off first. When it flakes up like that it has a tendency to make it look worse than it actually is. Having said that, it's probably on the marginal side IMHO.

The most shocking price I ever paid for a Corrado part was for the injector O-rings. They were £3.50 EACH and there are 12 of them. That was a few years ago too.
-
Got mine. Cheers!

Yes, but the downside is that it permanently is marked as being written off, which will potentially scare buyers away and might affect your insurance.

I've got the same thing, for what it's worth. I've never worked out what it is. It's confusing as it comes and goes, but it's usually more obvious after the car has been sitting for a while.

New Uprated Headlight Looms Just £39.99 Posted With Original Connectors

Go on then. I've been meaning to do this for a while. Payment details? -
Yeah if anything I'd say finger tight then forward quarter of a turn. Those things are annoying though. You'll find that even following these rules, new bearings will tend to slacken relatively rapidly and will need to be re-adjusted.

I've used timeserts before to fix a bike frame. They're way better than helicoils.

I just looked at your thread. That filler is a bar steward huh? All the Corrados I've seen have the same thing. I think it's basically just a lack of sealer around the wee plastic grommets that the filler lock cover screws into. Having said that, it's a nice little mud trap up behind the filler neck. I've had thoughts about fabbing up a panel that would sit over the filler neck to deflect all the crap that gets flicked up there. i.e a sort of minimal arch liner for that side only that mounted using the fuel tank neck bolts. The design would be pretty critical though as you risk just making the problem worse if it didn't drain properly.

So can I just give KUR2Y money and I get a loom? I could probably make one up myself but I can't be bothered tbh :D.
-
Likewise, do you still need people to source their own plugs? The headlight loom upgrade is something I've been putting off for ages.

Rusting a-pillar at windscreen mount - Advice needed

Woah yep, that definitely needs replacing. If you can't get genuine panels a bit chopped out of a breaker will do the job. -

Some pictures would help understand the extent of the problem. -
Thanks! I always wanted to learn how to weld and this was a good project for that. Also, I made the thumbnails a bit bigger.

I didn't take many pictures around this time as I was getting pretty ****ed off with the whole thing; especially when I uncovered this: Some time later, when the shell came back from the body shop: I made a new fuel filler lock thing out of stainless: Starting to look like a car again: Woo, all back together: My advice: if you're thinking about respraying a car. Just. Say. No. Having said that, it looks pretty nice now :D.

Got some etch primer on it to stop it rusting before the paint stripping began: Tail gate number plate light repair: Paint stripping (also, tiny weld penis): Filler:
-
More welding: The scary bit: Convincing the donor panel to fit: It got too wet and windy to weld outside, so I put a tent over my car :D: Fuel filler mechanism upgrade: Primer and welding (I found a use for the stupid big welding clamp I didn't think I'd use): Still a bit crooked, but nothing a skim of filler won't sort:

I've been around for ages, but never made a thread for my car. Here it is! (It might be easier to view the pictures on imgur.com). In 2010 thieving *******s stole my car and messed up the fuel filler (I blame them for the rust too ;)): Oh dear: Pizza box template: Cutty, bendy, hammery, weldy, grindy: Chopping it up so it fits: Welding it in:
