Blimey, that sounds a bit frightening. I guess its the same as Common Rail Diesels, some of these run insane fule pressure that could cut through stone if fired in a sustained jet. nick

I like these quite a lot, styling is nice and edgy and they look excellent on the move. Sorry yours has taken a knock, hope the insurance sort it out asap. nick

Good isn't it? I have to confess to being of the opinion that detailing is for "Geeks and loners" until today. I really didn't think it would make much of a difference unless you stared at the paint finish but really it has transformed the car. The nly downside is my stonechips and parking dents show up worse than before! Ah well best get saving for Dents Away and a bonnet repaint! Best thing about this day was it was free as I wired in his DRL's on his MKIII Golf Gti and tested his compression as he thought he may have had head gasket issues. Nick -

My mate Guy came over today to detail the old girl before the show tomorrow. Before a wash or anything: Car washed but nothing done to the wheels: Guy doing the bizz with the lambs wool mit: Masked up: Guy doing the polisher ting: 50/50 split on the bonnet: By the time we were finished it was too dark to get any shots so will get some from the show tomorrow. I've got a nasty feeling the adjustable steering stuff is all obselete. Most folks on here seem to change the coloumn for a fixed one out of a Polo. Nick

much respect to his driving but as far as tv presenters go :gag: mk2's feel very heavy to drive, bit like the rado but with a higher center of gravity, they must have been some s**t hot coileys on there![/quote:2kik6wkb] Nah just springs and shocks. The golf may feel more unstable but it has a balance most modern cars would yearn for. You have to push them beyond what instinct tells you is comfortable and they'll reward you in spades. Lets face it, it can't be that bad Rados use the same system up front but with better weight distribution due to the lardy rear end. I've had 3 MKII GTI's and all of them were inspiring to drive and always left me with an inane grin on my face afterwards. The Rado is the first other Dub to do the same thing to me. Finally leave poor Tiff alone :( How would y :( u feel being saddled with a girls name all your life, I bet he was bullied to hell and back. Anyway the man can drive as proven by winning a spot in an F1 car and coming third at 24hrs Le Mans. Nick

Sounds like a dodgy pump. Have you changed the fuel filter recently? If these get really clogged up they can cause the pump to struggle. nick

Above are my (i think) quite cool dust caps. Not anymore, some little scrotes had them away at Asda this evening. Well not all of them they left one behind because the lady in the car next to mine caught them in the act. As I walked back she asked if it was my car and when I said yes explained what happened and point the youths out to me as they wandered across the car park with their BMXs. being an unfit smoker with a bag of shopping a pursuit on foot was out of the question so I jumped in the car and zoomed round a short cut to cut them off as they left the car park. Now having them nicked was annoying (especially as I'm going t a show on sunday) but what happened next really boiled my blood. They saw me coming and rather than running off they stood in the middle of the road and threw stones at my car! Luckily the handling of the Rado meant I avoided most of em and then nipped off down a side street to see them flipping me the bird in my mirror. The little scrotes could only have been about 12. They were lucky that I A care about my paintwork and B don't carry a bat in my boot! Enraged of Basingstoke.

Yeah it's not bad. The New Rocco should do OK as the MKVI GTi won't be hitting our roads until summer next year at the earliest. Plenty of time for the Rocco to cement itself in the market place. I also suspect VW are not expecting the Rocco to be a volume car like the Golf and to be a low seller to the more enthusiast side of the market. Nick

You're alright with me Boost Monkey :-) nick

None taken mate :-) I do have experience though as my minis had hydro clutches as does my T25 VW camper and I've worked on these systems more times than I would like to have done. The Rado system can't be that different as has already been mentioned it has a master and slave cylinder which will be connected by pipe/hoses. Anyhoo none of that really matters. You're advice re testing for drive is bob on. Nick

Garages have a pressure bleeder but you can buy them in Halfords. The home use ones have a cap that screws on your fluid bottle and then a pipe that attaches to the valve on your spare tyre. It then uses the air pressure in the tyre to force the fluid through the system. You just open and close the bleed nipple till you get nice fresh fluid with no bubbles. Just be careful and keep an eye on the fluid level in the bottle or it blows all the fluid through and fills your system with air! nick

Little resistance on peddle screams hydrolic problem to me. Did you pressure bleed it or use the pump the peddle method? I found that on my camper pressur ebleeding was the only way to firm up the clutch peddle. I have to admit to never looking at the clutch setup on my Rado yet but if it has any rubber pipework check it's not bulging under pressure. Nick

I find the 14 years of grease, grim and UK road dirt look is underated. Nick

Yeah that's true. Holes on the wing side though will still draw in air from the front of the car. THe main reason you want the wholes wing side is less water ingress. Drill them on the engine side and it'll soon sog up your filter. Another good reason to use a filter like a K&N as they don't hold water like a paper one does. Nick
-
Only if you swiss-cheese it on the engine side, should only be done on the wing side of the box. Anyway you ever read under bonnet temps at over 20mph? Normally only a degree or two above outside ambient and the 16v inlet manfold desgin causes more heat increase in induction than where you get your air from. Nick

one of these: till your slooks like this: nick

Looked cool on sunday and I shall be following this thread with interest. Nick

You're brave trying it on a friends car before your own! I'd have grabbed a couple of doors from a scrap yard and tried those first. Nick

You don't need that cam anyway. Nick

'm quite tempted by a set of these: Probably not to everyones tastes but I have a small budget and they only £300. Will have to see if I get a bonus at work this year first though! Nick

Forgot about this. Installed on my Mac and works fine :-) Nick

Blimey! That's pretty rubbish to put it mildly. I'm not surprised members packs are the last thing on her mind. As above I'm not in a any rush :-) Nick

I'm waiting for mine to but I guess folks have a day job and send these things out in batches. Nick
