  1. Good work Dave - Think I will be giving your repair instructions a go - unless Kip's producers comes up with a complete new bolster.
  2. OK - thanks saves allot of grief!
  3. Hi I have just had a reply from power-steering-store saying he would make the fuel pipes if I could send him my old one. I have asked him for a price and mentioned the forum so hopefully might get a decent price. Don't suppose anyone has any old pipes to send him as mine are on the car and I dought they would survive removal!
  4. Has anyone got any experience of using this stuff - wondered if it could be used to replace/repair the bolsters http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-Part-Competition-Seat-Expanding-Foam-Kit-/270954394574?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1623f3ce
  5. The finished article (I hope!) - and one of the great benifits of the whole project - cup holders in a corrado!
  6. I'm not sure if there is a detailed build thread - I know what you mean about about being a bit nervous about starting to cut up your dash - I sourced one off ebay so that if I got it horribly wrong I could at least revert to te original! If you are carefull its not too difficult just a bit labour intensive. The polo cup holders (brand new unit off ebay for about £15) look very OE and work great. The stereo again requires some careful cutting to get it to fit and you have to be aware to the wireing that runs behind there and can interfere with your attemps to fit the head unit in place. Will post up a pic of the completed work soon
  7. Checked all the wireing - even put new connectors on at the engine end - the pressure reading drops as soon as increase the revs. I let the engine run up to temp and the oil warning lamp started flashing. I will have to buy another sender - hope that cure the pressure readig problem as well.
  8. Also been reading some threads about the oil warning light coming on if the sender is not stamped 0.5 bar - took mine off this evening and its stamped 1.25 bar - just wondered if this might be a contributing factor?
  9. Hi Just fitted an oil pressure gauge and it appears to be working fine but wondered in anyone can help with the following questions. When I turn on the ignition the reading goes to 100 psi before returning to 0 then when the engine is running the pressure climbs and sits at approx 80psi but when I blip the throttle the pressure reading drops - is that normal? TIA
  10. Thanks - I'm sure it was either someone on here or the CCGB site that had done the polo cup holder conversion so its thanks to them.
  11. Just finish the dash conversion that involved removing the ashtray and cigarrete lighter, (Audi power socket fitted in rear ashtray), relocating stereo, fitting polo cup holders and fitting volt meter/ oil pressure gauge. Happy with the end result but it was a bugger of a job!
  12. Hi Looking for a bit of help from anyone with electrical/alarm knowledge. My 16v has a Clifford concept 50 alarm which has pretty much every bell and whistle all fitted by a previous owner. He had the door pins removed and led lights fitted in their place along with a switch to operate the central locking which was mounted in the cubby hole beneath the ciggie lighter etc. As part of my winter project I had to relocate the switch as I was fitting oil/volt gauges there. It is a simple rocker switch and I thought I would replace it with a proper central locking switch as it will now be in general view. I sourced one of eBay. It has 5 terminals as opposed to the original rocker switch which had 6 but was only wired to three wires (earth, right and left lock – I supposed) After a bit of experimenting I managed to get it to work ok BUT the central locking operation via the alarm fob would not work. Removed the switch and the fob operation worked fine again. Any ideas how I might resolve the new switch problem? TIA
  13. In a post I read about installing a dual pole sender it says to replce the one that has the blue connector but on my 16v it sits behind the other one. and there is not enough room for the larger dual pole. Is the other one the oil temperature sender and if so can I swap them around ie put the temp sender at the rear and mount the dual pole at the front? TIA
  14. I acquired a strut brace which looks as though it should fit in as much as the forward “bend" takes it around the expansion tank and then comes back to fit nicely over the offside strut and there are even cut out notches to accommodate the “lugs “ on the strut. But the brace is hitting the throttle mechanism where the cable operates it. Am I missing something it the fitting setup? TIA
  15. Thanks Guys - I did want to try and get an accurate reading and as mentioned above I have read somewhere that the old wiring etc does lead to voltage drop - also I have already piggy backed off the glove box and ciggie lighter feeds for a lights on buzzer. So I will source a 4 pin relay and mount as suggested Thanks Again
  16. I'm installing an oil pressure gauge and a Volt meter to my 16v. I understand the best feed to the volt meter is directly from the battery. I read somewhere that a "switched relay" to an ignition feed is then required but what kind of relay am I looking for? TIA
  17. That sounds good - looking online ebay (GPC) and VW heritage are both asking cica £45 with postage! will try the Dealers - Thanks!
  18. I would like to see these available for reasonable money: Roof Rubbers Rear Disc back (splash) covers
  19. Now it’s full on to get the interior part of the project complete. Lights on buzzer is working! The job of repositioning radio to where the ashtray and ciggie lighter etc is complete but left me thinking that I still wanted a power socket so sourced an Audi pop up power socket and with much dremelling have fitted it into the rear ashtray and its working ok. Now just about ready to reassemble – wish me luck!
  20. Hi Again - here is how it looks. I used spray adhesive that I got from a car audio place and is used to accoustic arpet etc
  21. Yes you do - its only secured by two (maybe 3) small strips of metal that act as hinges. I recovered the complete sunroof housing as the area arond the panel was also grubby despite my best (or worst!) efforts at cleaning it. I can take a pic of how it turned out andpost it up but it would be tomorrow at the earliest
  22. Hi Yep - I did mine. I could not find a match for the material so did it in Black. Got some stretchy cloth from Remnant Kings in Edinburgh for about £6 and it went on fine and in fact I think the contrast with the light couloured headlining is pretty good.
