I have run my G60 on super unleaded (usually Tescos 99 or V-power) for the last 2 years, pretty much since the mods took it over 200bhp. I have never had better than 31mpg out of it according to the MFA in that time, and that was with plenty of coasting down hills and general boring driving! Usual spirited A road driving gives 23-25mpg I couldn't get any super last night and filled up with standard Tesco unleaded as I had to drive from Bewdley to Brecon. Admittedly I did get stuck behind slow cars a lot of the way so spent it doing about 50mph in 5th, but my MFA showed 35mpg! On the way back this afternoon I gave it some welly for extended periods and spend the rest of the time at 60-70, and it still showed 33mpg over the journey! I guess the only way to really test it is with the fill up and measure method as I guess the MFA may be misreading? Just wondered if anyone else has had anything similar happen. Are the statements about super giving more miles per tank a load of balls?!

Saw a blue rado (couldn't see badge but sounded like a VR) with a 'dubway' sticker, just going past tesco's petrol station yesterday evening in Kidderminster. They had no Momentum 99 as usual :(

The dump valve might just be the sound of the boost return having been deleted. It's fairly easy to put back if he still has the pipe. Not likely to sap power though.

As R888s are like rocking horse poo at the moment, and there are very few track tyres in my size, I'm going for Kumho V70As. Tyredrive do them for £131 each and delivery is only £11.50 for 4.

164 at the flywheel sounds very low, especially after a chip and pulley. Are you sure this wasn't at the wheels? Mine is quite modified (but stock engine apart from cam) and made 229 at the fly and 175 at the wheels at Stealth. But dynos can be massively different so your better looking at boost levels and how it drives- admittedly it helps if you've been in a G60 before!

I can collect but it wouldn't be till the 16th/17th July. If you need rid of them sooner them I'm happy to pay a bit extra for post.

How much for the 4 door cards? I assume they are black cloth and early. Thanks

Which explains why I've never had a SINGLE wave, look, comment from a new scirocco driver when I've been in my Corrado. I have far more from compliments from drivers of quattros, old golfs etc. and even old Japanese and American cars like mr2s. I don't think most owners of the new Scirocco even know what an old Scirrocco looks like, never mind a Corrado.

Topaz2008- I seem to remember exchanging a few pms with you about a very similar experience I had. Did you have that 'Specsavers' moment?- 'Should've gone to DG Autotech!!!' :) It's odd that all the complaints seem to be the same problem. Not admitting to cock ups and not getting back to customers. Let's hope they can turn it around and get their reputation back. I'm afraid to say I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first few times, but I will be sending to my charger to JMR next time it needs a service.

Exactly. I have a fairly highly modded G60 and it has some external mods, but that one looks OTT to the point of being a pain to drive. I'm sure it's a great show car so if you're into that then might be a good purchase, but looks a bit 'style over function' for me. G60s are all about fun (especially after a few 200bhp+ mods) so I'd want one that could survive on our roads. That's just my preference though, I guess everyone's different. If you want scene respect then just get an old polo for £100, throw acid on the bonnet and put 22inch Bentley rims on it. If you want a drivers car then get the 24v VR :)

http://buildthreads.wordpress.com/2009/09/07/vw-lupo-twin-engine/ how about a W12 Lupo? -
Green vr in bridgnorth this evening, got a wave. Driver had sunglasses on but could have been CrazyDave?

Where abouts are you? Sounds like you need to get it to a good garage that knows G-laders. I've been shocked by the lack of G knowledge at most non-specialist but reputable local vw garages.
-
My mate had one. Admittedly it had the smaller pulley and remap so was quicker than vw intended, but it didn't feel as stable as a c at speed, and the brakes didn't feel up to the job. It is just my opinion but it didn't feel that safe! Great fun though!
-
Agreed. This explains why there aren't many G-40s left around. A tin can with that much power going forward and not much to stop it was asking for trouble. I'm sure things have moved on a lot since then though.
-
Thought it might be but didn't see the plate. There can't be many around like that!

Lovely red g60 parked up near hartlebury common in stourport today.
