  1. I might be able to make this, will confirm on Sunday. Do I risk the beast on the track? :s
  2. Sadly not Tatton, but Harewood House and Ed38 are free on my calendar if you are going? Bit far from you maybe.
  3. Well I'm paying about 160 more than the G60 based on the info I gave them. However, I got the feeling she was just ticking boxes on a pre-populated form and didn't really get the full picture of how much the bits on this car are worth. I did give them the current power though, so they can't say they didn't know how fast it is. I reckon once I fill out the modified car report and the rest of the paperwork in detail they might get back to me :(
  4. Thanks, nice to see my G60 in there with it too! ---------- Post added at 6:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:01 PM ---------- I know you never got a ride in this- collar me next time you see me and I promise I will take you for a spin! ---------- Post added at 6:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:02 PM ---------- Well, the sat nav was going nuts so I had to follow her down loads of dead ends and eventually we found the dual carriageway. I tried to be restrained but after a few minutes a chavvy Starlet with a big exhaust came farting past us, so I had to 'VRT' him!!! It would be rude not to... I took Isla out in it when we got home. It went something like this as we approached the A5... 'Wow, it sounds quite different to the G60' (cruising)... 'Arrr What's that noise?!' (as the turbo spools up) 'Nooo, Stop it!! I don't like it!!! AAARRRGHHH!!!' (grabs side of seat and closes eyes) Hehe! Tonight would have been the first chance I had to have a long look round it and get some nice photos, but it's pouring with rain, so will have to wait. Might take it to my favourite 'testing place' in the middle of rural Shropshire at the weekend and get some videos :)
  5. Congratulations! The most important question is what car will you hire for the wedding day?!
  6. Not quite right, I decided a normal VR would be a step backwards after owning such a fine machine as a G60 :) Only joking, I do love that sound, and the turbo kicking in makes it all the more musical! I honestly will miss the G60 though.
  7. Well, I can't quite believe this is sitting on my drive as I type this. I picked the car up from Oz last night. Top bloke, and I was sad to be taking it from him, but will be nice to see the other blackberry get the attention he wants to give it. He was upfront about everything, gave me loads of time and even had the car cleaned top to bottom and filled up with super unleaded! The car itself is mind blowing. I took the first 10 miles or so to get used to the pedals. The brake pedal has a fair bit of play before it kicks in, the accelerator is VERY quick to engage and the clutch is quite stiff- I managed to do some rocket launches from the traffic lights without even wanting to! After a cruise along the motorway I started to have a bit of a play. I was surprised at how quiet it is compared to my G60- just a deep rumble and a bit of a whirr from the rear diff. dropping the accelerator at 70mph in 5th gives a nice smooth push of power and the sound as the boost builds is gorgeous! It doesn't 'kick' quite like the G60 in the lower revs, but as I soon found out, if you want to do that you can drop a gear and prepare to go into warp speed! Once I was on the A roads, I felt the force of the 4wd as I came off a few roundabouts with a stab on the gas. I also tried a 'full on' launch from some traffic lights on the A5 and literally burst out laughing, I must have looked like a total nutter! I shocked a few expensive motors along the way, and never really tested it to it's limit. I can't believe it's only running 310bhp at the moment- I think it will be a long time till I want the full 470!! Unfortunately Oz showed me the 'naughty switch' in the engine bay that turns the boost up, so the temptation will be there in the future.... There's so much I could write about this car, but I had better leave it there till I've got some pics and videos. I need to get all the dead insects off from the journey home first! In the meantime, here's the article from Golf+ in 2004 about the car, kindly provided by Oz in a nicely prepared history folder. I am also delighted that the G60 is going to my mate who first got me into Corrados. He had a G40 when I first knew him, and it sadly got written off driving at 5mph over a ground anchor at work! He's been pining for some superchaging since and I'm glad I will get to see plenty of it again. I keep saying it but I really will try and get to some shows- towards the end of Aug/early Sept I will have some free weekends.
  8. ^^^ It's true! A full account of my first experience with the beast will be up soon- when I've had some sleep and recovered from the G-force inflicted on my brain in the last few hours! :)
  9. Met a lady sat in a red 16v in Frankwell car park, Shrewsbury- had a very quick chat but I couldn't stop as I was late for a meeting with my boss! Anyone on here?
  10. Is there such a thing as a 'funny' corrado crash?! That 6th one down looks like a race track.
  11. No no no it's actually a Mini One I'm looking at buying.... ;) Thanks for the info chaps
  12. My mistake, there are plenty of new ones listed on ebay by the same company, I didn't see them because they always use pictures of 5 stud ones! They are over 3k with new tyres, but as you say I guess they will be worth much less second hand in todays climate.
  13. I am considering buying a C with these rims on, and hope to recoup some of the hit to my pocket by selling these on after the purchase as I have some lightweight 17s already. They appear to be in near mint condition and have toyo proxes with plenty of life on. The problem is there aren't any (even completed) listed on ebay and I can't find any recent sales on forums. They are listed new here at £2609 with no tyres: http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/17_Inch_BBS_LM_Alloy_Wheels__1466 Has anyone ever sold/bought these in 4x100, or any good idea what they would fetch?
  14. 'Stage' is just what level it has been ported to- I'm not sure if all companies use the same levels but I think stage 5 was G-werks highest. So the more porting, the more airflow in theory. So it doesn't matter a great deal, more important is the receipts for a recent rebuild!
  15. Ozowen on here- he has a thread in members section.
  16. A shiny red C on the A5 in Shrewsbury heading towards Dobbies roundabout yesterday afternoon
  17. Ye, I miss the weather as I was in Florida! But was nice to be back in the G60 after driving all those boring heavy automatic Chevy trucks!
  18. That photo from Castle Combe is still probably my favourite Corrado pic ever- I have been away working in the US for a few months and managed to totally miss it on the calender :( At least Isla enjoyed it, she wants me to get a Blackberry one day!
  19. Moonlight blue C on Oswestry to Shrewsbury road at 6ish yesterday
  20. I know the feeling! Just keep telling yourself it might have had all kinds of problems you couldn't see, and a better one will come along!
  21. JMR seem to be the most highly recommended nowadays although I've never been there myself. DG Autotech saved mine from all kinds of problems and although not technically G60 specialists, are definateley Corrado experts. They may be worth a call to see what they can do.
  22. I'm sure you had a ride in it once, I seem to remember you liked it apart from the resonating sound from the lack of airbox funnel! Didn't get it to any shows last year but will make an effort this summer.
  23. I posted this one up last week- not to take the p*** out of whoever did it, but I honestly couldn't tell it was a corrado at first, not seen anything like it before! I don't have a problem with heavily modified cars even if I wouldn't want them myself, but I hate mis spelled and half arsed ads. My favourites are 'probably missed loads' or 'loads of other stuff' at the end- well how about taking a moment to list them so you won't have to answer the same 50 emails?! And run it through a spell checker if you know your spelling is that bad. Or am i just being old fashioned?
  24. As I was still in a bit of a sulk about someone beating me to a bargain vrt at the weekend, I thought I'd take the G out with my girlfriend's new motor and get some pics in the sunshine to cheer myself up. This had been sitting on someone's drive for a whole year, but after a change of all the disks and pads at DG, an MOT and a lot of work scrubbing the moss off, it's turned out pretty nice. It's the 180hp T-sport, so she can (almost) keep up with me now!
  25. Gutted!! Missed this by a few days, it sold today :( Oh well, if anyone has a bargain VRT as good as this then let me know!
