  1. 1.8 supercharged? As the french knight in monty Python said, 'I already got one!' :D
  2. Maybe because our rados break every week :(
  3. Kindof a chuftie- some kids on bikes stopped outside the house as I was pulling in and one of them shouted 'Are you going back to the future?!' I wouldn't have known what he was on about if my mate didn't always refer to it as 'the Delorian'! Another bloke at work calls it the Bat Mobile :)
  4. Apart from the cam, you should be able to see the rest just by looking under the bonnet. And don't forget cleaning everything up and hunting for those elusive G60 boost leaks :brickwall: can gain valuable bhp :D
  5. I used to have a twin boat horn on my GTI, yes they are as fun as they look! I only used it on people who deserved it though... I know what you mean Jim, it's the preconceptions about your car that's narked you and I don't blame you. I had to sit through a local council meeting recently while some poor highways guy got grilled by the biddies for not putting speed cameras on their road. All his surveys showed that hardly anyone broke the limit there and he couldn't justify spending money on trying to slow people down. After half an hour of going in circles it boiled down to the fact that the road was next to a 16-18 college and every fiesta/corsa with a loud exhaust pulled out and hit 30mph in 1st as quick as possible. The old locals thought this MUST be speeding without actually thinking about it... :brickwall: And giving them high vis and letting them power trip with speed guns is just a way of trying to get something for nothing by the police.
  6. I've got 230 bhp at the fly with a totally standard head and 68mm pulley  There's other stuff to do before the head, you may have already done this: Cam, Front Mount IC, 4 branch exhaust mani, RSR outlet, Oil cooler, Plus some DG Autotech magic dust that seems to give everyone +20bhp :D It can be costly to get a well flowed head and if your just chasing power why not just turbo it?
  7. looks pants on a rado. the only thing close ive seen which looks ok is satin black but i think its only the chavvy white stickers that make it look better satin rado.jpg[/attachment:1t64fs92] That's kind of what I had in mind, I think with some sensible wheels and no stickers that would look amazing
  8. Stealth fighter style matt black 8)
  9. No performance gains, lots of noise!
  10. Lucky you! I'm trying to persuade my gf to get a rado too, but then we wouldn't have her solid reliable Corolla to rely on when the G60 is sick :?
  11. I've always heard this about lots of oil being a bad thing. My charger has always filled my pipes with oil. It was recently serviced at Jabba when I got it, then serviced at G-werks and then later inspected at DG, and it still puts out a hell of a lot of oil. Can't see it being due to wrecked seals after full re-builds though? Maybe some chargers just do it?
  12. Great to hear you've sorted a VR at last, I'm sure it will be worth the wait!
  13. I'm lucky enough to be able to cycle to work now- but I always put Tescos premium or V-power in my G60 and it's really hurting the wallet now. But I wouldn't put anything else in as it's heavily modded and pinks under full boost with V-power anyway! My mate at work had a Bora running on chip fat, I expect to see more of that going on if the prices don't drop!
  14. Followed a Red G reg down Otely Road in Shrewsbury today
  15. oops, very different on a vr6  sorry!
  16. I had a similar leaking problem on mine. I just changed the two flanges on the engine (make sure you get the O rings too). For them, the thermostats and a load of G12 can't be much more than about £40? Easy job too, just make sure your ready for the torrents of coolant!
  17. Ta for the sympathy- It wasn't a very personal loss for me as it was my girlfriends grandad so I was mostly there for her folks. But funerals are always a bit draining and grim. Certainly didn't feel like finishing the day at Ockenham Common... Thanks mate its coming along now! Last seen near Ockenham Common... Not sure how you manage to land upon these things Matt, you must have a 6th sense...... Not much use if my spidey senses guide me towards grubby macs and steamed up mondeos! :gag:
  18. HaHa You were looking good in your mac and thick rimmed glasses 8)
  19. I had to go to a funeral in East Grinstead on Wednesday. It was a very long day and as fun as you'd imagine, so I wanted a trouble free journey home. I left at 8.30pm and got part way along the M25 and the rain was hammering. Had the wipers on full when my driver's side wiper just sheared off at the base and flew off behind me... I was going about 80 and couldn't see anything for a few secs but managed to limp into the slow lane and drive to the next junction with my head over the passenger side! Got off onto the A3 and took the next turning off. It was a quiet looking national trust car park called 'Ockenham Common'. Within seconds of pulling up I knew something wierd was up. There were loads of cars there, driving in, driving out, people walking round, and all this in the dark, in the rain. I was sure they weren't walking the dog... I had my interior light on to phone the RAC and had my torch out to see if I could swap the wipers over so I was drawing a bit of attention to the car. It's worth mentioning that I had my girlfriend and her sister in the back and their bro in the front- we are all under 30 so I think all the sleazy old men thought it was xmas come early! The same cars kept driving past really slowly and peering in, and there were a few odd types in macs kept creeping up to the windows to see what we were upto. After 2 hours the RAC man turned up and told me it was one of the dogging hotspots for the county. As he put it 'It wouldn't be so bad if there were loads of fit young couples at it, but it's always full of old men!' So hands up whos been here before? This isn't far from Toad's territory is it?
  20. Ye I'd never break in anywhere, I'm just aware of this one being totally open and there's no activity up there. I see a few people using it for flying model planes sometimes but that's about it. Anyway sorry for the thread highjack!
  21. Was that a disused one? There's a huge old RAF one down the road from me but I'm not sure who owns it, I've been tempted to go up in the middle of the night and blast the C down it but don't wanna get arrested :? There's a website with all disused ones marked on google maps, looks like some great places for speed tests :D
  22. I dunno sometimes you just keep cruising and giggle at people trying to race you in shit cars. I must admit I've mellowed a lot since I blew away a pair of chavs on shitty bikes at a set of lights as they were revving up and squeezing between me and the other cars. I totally smoked them and was laughing my ass off until I saw the blue lights behind me a few mins later... The chavs then went past me and saw me getting a telling off so I guess they had the last laugh! Sometimes it's better to just be mature and smile cos you're driving a rado and they aren't!
  23. I got good condition RHD ones for £100 the pair. OT: Where's that pic of your car taken (looks like an airstrip)? Would like to get mine on a runway :norty:
  24. Mod Edit: Sorry I know you're only trying to help but we don't want the forum getting into any trouble for illegitimate materials.
  25. Green L reg VR today on Smithfield Road in Shrewsbury, very grubby! I was in the big green John Deere behind
