well i had to remove my plastics from the engine this weekend and found that the previous owner had totally rounded off the bolt heads that hold the HT lead plastics on the car, this has resulted in them being damaged and of course i need to replace them, has anyone got a good set and also i need the two bolts from the right hand side of the engine that hold them on......the weird ones the screw to the rocker studs........ Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Rob

I like the idea of the 3rd brake light, only mod i have done to my rears is sand down the manufacture marks etc and give them a coat of clear laqure to make them looe factory but with a super clean look.........

yeah iv read this thread and iv never seen a build like it, would love to have the time and cash to tackle something like this one day.

cut the phone lines and confiscate any mobiles.......tell them that the car is a future investment for them and therefore they should sacrifice Christmas to fund parts for it??

be wiser insurance were the best by far from me for a limited millage policy, i pay around the £400 mark with no NCB as i started a new policy just for the car so i could keep my van on accumulating NCB with my other insurer

just tell them due to the current economic state of the world Santa can no longer go on supplying Christmas gifts therefore the world has taken to old Christmas traditions such as an apple and orange......sounds fair to me.

quick update on this car since its been a while, just got a huge pile of gaskets so i can get my intake all sorted over winter, not have a splitter almost ready to fit, new badges to sort out the slightly damaged ones, new grill to fit and some little bits of paint to sort out and then she should be ready for another summer, been looking at going back to a set of speedlines with the car aswell but doing them a grey color but thats still just a thought at the moment. Will also be ordering caliper rebuild kits so i can strip the calipers properly and get them coated the same as the intake mani.

does the car feel under powered or anything also?? mine is doing about 19mpg on a short run of say 15min with varied driving and returns 36mpg on a long run of say 50mile of relaxed driving

i reccon you will be pretty safe with the coil mate, i used them on some pretty high stress applications and thay have been great every time, just make sure you fit them correctly with plenty of thread lock so they cant work loose

there are loads of threads if you hunt about regarding the wiring and function of fans on corrados but i will deffo tell you that it should not run all the time, if this is the case i think its also the cause of your very poor mpg as it will be running cold all the time and thus be using more fuel as it will be running the cold map for want of a better phrase.

Indeed but just a tap might not be enough if enough of the thread is damaged, you have to weigh up the cost of replacing the hub v a helicoil kit

Spacer shouldn't be an issue as its not threaded however you are putting more stress on the bolts by using a spacer that is non hubcentric. if you have a bit of practical skill you could first try running a tap through the hold although I doubt there will be enough material left n the hole for that, another option is to drill the hole out larger, tap it and fit a helicoil but only do the f you now what you are doing....

I think the calippers will be in need of a refresh as well to be honest, any local auto spares will sort you out with discs and pads and depending on your own practical skill you can sort rebuild the brakes yoursel by buying a rebuild kit or replacing the calippers but that's going to cost you........ Also if the brakes are in a very poor state I would be taking a good look at the suspension components also

when i bought the VR6 i had to start a new policy as i didnt want to move my other car so in short i started with no NCD. The key here for me was to insure the car on a restricted millage classic policy, it does not insure me for work etc but i dont need the car for that anyway so to be honest it depends what you use the car for and all sorts of other think like where the car is stored, how far you drive, what the car is used for and a multitude of other parameters but to be fair i dont think that £54 is too bad.........i pay up front for mine, im 26 with 6 points on my licence and its £450 im sure someone else on here will give you better advice but its a start

mildly pointless rant, i have a roof rack for my corrado and it has a very good place there (also some supercar owners use roof racks for snowboards etc), it caries my surf boards and bikes sometimes if i don't want to use my van and you will most likely find many others on here who do the same, iv had a bonnet bra primarily for preventing damage, it looked gash looking back at it now and it did more harm than good but i suppose you learn from these things.......
