i cant grumble at all really.... its never let me down in the 2 year sof having it , never missed a beat , but i have maintained it regardless.....which i might add its quite hard to do due to costs etc , i do find if you just pick on an area and just nail it it pays off...... i replaced everything on the front end and not only did it totally transform the way the car drove it doesnt give you any nasty surprises....... a lot of people on here i have read, ask questions about whether or not they should drive from here to there and what should they take if they brake down etc i am 100 % confident in the car i use it everyday and we recently drove across europe france, belguim ,germany, cheq republic, even drove back through the black forest all i can say it was awesome, autobahn races 140 mph no problem for what seemed like long periods of time until the missus wakes up realising what im doing and starts moaning...... :lol: most of the time cruised at 100 as was a good speed and returned 29.7 mpg.....at 70-80 was returning 36mpg so was quite happy with that. with rising fuel costs it is expensive to run as a daily as its eats fuel when its not on a run dont forget mines still in auto form just now but is in the process of being converted as we speak, car is back in the body shop having a few niggles sorted and then the engine comes out strip rebuild clean the bay sort a few more bits ive always wanted in there and then , then it will be a weekend toy....because when you get to the condition mine is in you dont want to ruin it by using it as a daily only because of all the time i have sunk into it not to say i wont enjoy it when i do drive it though!!

if your gonna keep the projectors then keep them black bud the chrome look terrible imho glad you getting stuck into the vr itl keep your poor!! lol

THAT Or die grind the bolt heads off then as you say you should be able to push remaing bolt up through nd get your bumper off...

i have used this loads of times in the past and it stays on for ages.... liquid chalk from your local stationers....about 2.30 a pen any colour too will write on any surface and is water proof..

it looks identical.... just comes with red lights as standard...

or to save the hassle you just a late sunroof switch unit from a seat or passat which already has the red lights in it...... thats what i did anyway....

The arch roller is rubbish much easier and a much better result by dollying it out by hand, The arches were made to fit aroun the tyres I had on the car and the car set at the ride height I wanted to achieve I didn't want any rubbing issues, to make sure everything was equal the bumper was fitted and re fitted to get the right gaps shape and look the original lines were kept as I wanted a stock look

ok folks i just managed to get some updated pics of the arches and thought id update this thread...

arch pulling was next on the adgenda.............. this was a little daunting as i wasnt sure how this was going to turn out. as it happens Ben at PPI is a kin ledgend!!!!! we just lowerd the car and he made them fit ............. looking mean as hell here just a little worried now as to how low the front is gonna be............... so the idea behind all this is to make it look as stock as possible so this is a nice subtle mod, the bumper actually sticks out on both side of the car at the rear by about 1/2 - 3/4" so it made sence to make the arches flush with this... i can get my wheels on and the car still look cool........... these are the bogging up pics... shit myself when i saw this for the first time as it looks like there is a lot of filler there..... starting to take shape now.. the arches are almost done they are in black primer now as ben wanted to get that bit sorted before christmas... as you can see the bumper sits flush on both sides and it still looks stock........... i cant wait to see it in the flesh....

to get the look im after i had to roll the arches or so i thought. i hired the arch rolling machine frmo wheel power in torquay £25v for the week, got it home took it to garage and tried to fit it , some numpty bollocks had wound it up so tight to the hub on thier car it had squashed the bolt holes so you couldnt get the bolts in!!!! what a pisser so i spent ages filing it out so it was useable... any way this went from bad to worse........... we love arch rolling especially when it cracks the paint!! we love arch rolling even more when it doesnt even roll the arch!!! the metal is sooooo god damn thick on the back of the rado it just wouldnt play ball.... the machine left the arches distorted and with cracked paint i was so overjoyed.................. i must say i did heat the metal up it was in a warm garage etc etc it just didnt work for me.... anyway while it was there i decided to get rid of the rubbing strips... this left loads of ganky shit stuck to the doors and i had to use one of these to get it off this was all good until i found out that the passenger side had been painted before and whoever painted it once it had been laqured it cant have been left to go hard because the sticky strip had eaten its way into the laquer andc left what looked like blisters all the way down the door plus the laquer had come off too......... so as you can imagine i was relativly pissed off by this point......

up to you on the centres but i was thinking of supplying wraps for the deep dish wheels..... yes weird yes a bit different yes could look cool if done correctly...... potentially could have anything too.... i though it was a good idea anyway! lol

hmmmm interesting.... by coincidence yesterday i have the same problems...... oilbreather went brittle and collapsed.... replaced with make shift bit of kit for temp fix.... all good.....then noticed the throttle body elbow had split so massive air leak ....replaced fixed......now the car has a weird splutter and loss of power it coughs out black smoke which is unburnt fuel ....it stinks really stinks.... checked isv all good maff seems to be working..... faut shown on vag com lambda engine speed sensor cleared codes and engine speed sensor remains... i guess this is the cam sensor? knock sensor? front of engine... what does this sensor actually do ? i mean what does it control on the rest of the engine? do i replace my lambda at the same time?? the revs are hunting and it pisses me off 650 -1500 drops then settles then drive then shoots up then settles and so on

im in cully tomorrow evening i could venture over to tivy if your about.....

The rado hasn't got sn agreed value so they will look at ghier possibilities and the book price if the car so if the repair is more than the book price they could write it off....

I've had two sets of leather recaros from a eddo both fully electric both heated.... My cousins golf has cloth recaros electric on height but that's it no electric tilt or heat.... Finny thing is my mates edition blue g60 has the same cloth recaros too??? Maybe it's a golf thing?

That's bullshit..... What's going to happen when one of the newer cars which don't actually have spare wheels has a flat? Ok they come with tyre weld but what if that dosenr cut the mustard??? Then what still no recovery???

Not in the immeadiate area that I know of , I'd just driven back from there, actually surprised myself by not being bothers about going on the ring as I had enough fun on the bans......a good hour down the road is the hockinheim ring / race circuit that looks good too.....

Hmmm shame you have bought them bid but that's not going to hp you problem, my own view is 9's up front is shite too wide for the rado looks a bit rubbish and would handle really weird I think it would tramline quite a bit ,you might like the way it drives so suck it and see the arch is another problem I have had my rear arches pulled and retained the original shape as I don't like te bubble arch look so much but again my personal choice bubble arch is a cheaper mod though so would make it less painful running 9's on the rear with out arch pulling is a bit of a waste of time as the never sits right at all, you have to allow quite a big gap so you don't get rub on the tyres and you don't really want to lain your side Walls a 215/35/16 would help but again would look ridiculos tyre to arch ride height combo so think carefully on what you want to achieve, running them up front well I have had my front arches plannished flat extreme rolling haha the shape size of the arch is stock the inner lip has bee completly flattend back to eliminate rub. This works for me running 7.5's up front but 9's it wouldn't even get close the car is really going to have to stay at stock ish height maybe a little drop but not much , you will also have to deal with the legalities of your wheel tyre extruding the arch the fuzz dint like that at all and can get a little push if they want to....
