OK, a few pics would be good please and if it turns out that Jim Bowen needs it I'll defer to him.

I'd be interested in the cam if you want to sell it
-
I stand corrected, I'd have thought vege etc would have suitable cleaning tanks / machines etc not to need to "bull****" their products with paint. Every day is a school day etc etc I hope you can salvage the cams :)
-
I very much doubt a respected engine remanufacturer would spray an alloy head? Was there any paperwork with the head to suggest it was a vege rebuild or just word of mouth?
-
I'd say the head is scrap due to the scoring of the cam journals based on the pics shown above. The cams are much harder and may be salvageable with a polish - are the grooves deep enough to that your finger nail falls into them? Are both cams damaged? Someone sells them singularly on ebay if only one is scored

Worth a watch as it covers some of the common issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F38XkH8UueQ

You can bet your life that pressure bleeders are used on the production line when systems are completely dry before being filled. I've heard a tip from a breakdown service where you use the NSF brake nipple, a length of suitable pipe to reverse bleed the clutch using the 2 man method if there's an issue with bleeding and no pressure bleeder available.

Earlier this year I took out a £9K loan to buy her a Scirocco (strangely I wouldn't have a loan to buy myself a car.....). Its £200.60 per month over 48 months with Nationwide (with existing customer rewards etc). Over 4 years I expect my Corrado(s) to increase in value more than the interest charges (£628 and Sciroccos are currently holding there money well too), I would never have a balance on a credit card. Good luck with the venture whatever you decide:)

If you're so short of time you cant rebuild your car atm then how are you going to find the time to strip and package up all the parts if you break it? Packaging and booking couriers etc takes up quite a lot of time on top of the actual time it takes to remove items. Again if you're short on time where do you find the time for a new venture? Both T4s and Corrados are going up in value at the moment so if you offset that against the running costs you're sitting pretty on both of those atm? Be careful you don't make yourself ill, you need something to help you switch off from life pressures and a hobby helps to do that.

A close up pic of the sprocket sometime would be great. :)
-
Oh, I thought you had a spare engine with the covers off? Good result anyway :)
-
It does matter, can you post a pic of the sprocket please?
-
You need to remove the cams completely (so that all 12 valves are closed) before rotating the crank, if you don't the moving pistons will hit the open valves
-
On a 4 stroke engine the cams rotate at half the speed as the crank hence 2 rotations (720 degrees) for the 4 cycles (suck, squeeze, bang, blow or induction, compression, ignition, exhaust) On the VR6 engine the gearing down is done by the intermediate shaft, one of the of the 2 sprockets has an odd number of teeth so you can be half a tooth out (cam timing advanced or retarded), because of this the ignition timing is also thrown out as the cam sensor picks up off the cam sprocket + lumpy running and low power.
