  1. The oil temp sensor is usually brass and needs a much smaller spanner to turn it
  2. The spare wire is for the aux gauges fitted below the radio. Is the buzzer above 2200RPM or below? The lower value sensor is below 2200RPM, the higher of the 2 is above 2200RPM (don't mix them up or have you already maybe?). The values are stamped into the flats on the hexagon part of the sensor. Both alarm for low oil pressure, one below 2200rpm, the other above 2200rpm
  3. What about turboing your 8 valve?
  4. There is no level indication on cars of this age, its a low oil pressure warning buzzer with a red light meaning stop. It could be low oil pressure, a faulty sensor or a wiring issue.
  5. With standard brakes you'd be better off offering a toilet roll holder..... :)
  6. Started it up for the first time in 2 months, the battery needed no help and the car idled nicely until the fans kicked in. Totally different to the last time i used it when it was stalling, tapping, erratic idle etc.... The bstd knows its on the naughty step!

  8. That's cool, best wishes for your big day:)
  9. 16 inch plus generally speaking
  10. Comical ride height at the rear? I think its on ebay? Service history is Shropshire for 10 or so years then Ireland http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CORRADO-VR6-1996-N-Respectfully-restored-/142105412799?hash=item21162484bf:g:cOsAAOSwHoFXv1XX
  11. Are the flashes a fault cod? ie 3 flashes, 2 flashes (32) Usual faults for washing machine as brushes as mentioned (won't spin at high speed in the first instance) water pump or its controllers - the water needs to be out before spinning, there's sometime a crude sensor (a plastic bottle affair) that fills with soap powder making the washer think there's water inside the drum so no spin cycle. EDIT http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/troubleshooting-washing-machine-faults/
  12. Does it have any error codes displayed?
  13. Correct, the cars arrived here with some badging inside to glove box ready to fit, dealers fitted what they saw fit at the time.
  14. I hope you can find a good one. Read the buyers guide on here to find the various issues to look for, also watch the wheeler dealers issue on youtube for similar pointers on a big screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SmnszE01Pg

    Tappety engine survey

I've added valve guides to the first post.
  16. Welcome back :) Its an addiction..... I had a white MK2 and nearly replaced it with a white Corrado VR6 (I do like white) but opted for the softer MK3 VR6 - mistake! I'm not sure I'd want to buy a car off my dentist though.......
  17. This is the one recommended to me a year or two ago. http://www.ebay.com/itm/190388800513?rmvSB=true
  18. Highly likely on a diesel. I have a spare 8V PD head, but no 16V stuff. Fingers crossed for you
  19. I usually pay £1 each for bleed nipples, so if you say the 2 end fittings are a similar price then its hardly worth buying the kit and the bits to do it?
  20. I had one made by a local factor, 18 inches long, 12mm on the ABS pump end, 10mm on the other £4. I had considered buy a flaring kit, but I'm not sure if its worth the bother now. MiniFords Eddleston road Crewe if anyone's local.
  21. We should make a list of work done and parts fitted before doing a survey of sorts to try and determine what makes these engines sound tappety? Head skim? Valves recut? Original guides or new? Head gasket, metal or fibre? Original valves? New, reprofiled? Valve springs, original, new? Cams standard or performance? Tappets, original, new - make? Chain kit replaced? Make? Cam cover, metal or plastic Engine bottom end, factory or rebuilt at the same time? Oil pump, original, new? Oil pick up cleaned, replaced? Oil make / viscosity? What else do we need to add before rolling out a survey to find a solution to noisy overhauled engines?
