Sachs or LUK should do the job for a standardish VR6 There's a voucher code in the GSF thread for this weekend

You commute is very similar to mine and I usually get 30-34 mpg. Yesterday was very hot and I had to drive over to my brothers before work, parked for just over 2 hours, then drove to work. The MFA was obscured by the brown plastic box until 2 miles from work, so I eased off a little to get the 40MPG indicated pic. It was purely the amount of fast moving evening traffic and the better, straighter roads from my brothers house to work helped too. I wont be trying to better it anytime soon..............

"Man in the shed" does group buys on CGTi and other forums, he does the heads for many of the big names in VW tuning, but stays behind the scenes working rather than talking on the telephone / internet so I can't find any contact details online (the mods on CGTi have his contact details, maybe someone on here too?). If you google "man in the shed heads" there's a few links for this forum / CGTi etc, the pics of his work look amazing.

I suspect its the aux water pump, unplug it and see if the noise stops

May swap for VR6 parts, ie gearbox with 3.68 and LSD, Cams, big valve head etc What have you got?
-
If your ultimate goal is turbo then this is the perfect opportunity to do it? There's plenty of 12V heads around if yours proves to be cracked. I hope things pan out whichever way you decide to go

Youll need the correct part number for the abs light as there plugs differ

Might be worth stating the reg number?

You might want to say where you are as "In a galaxy far away" might put a few people off? -

If its making a racket like that and the big ends are the problem it's highly likely the crank is scored too, and that's an engine out job to have the crank reground, inspect all bearing surfaces before ordering bearing shells
-
Its been on ebay several times before the auction http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/252297854993

Take the sump off and inspect the oil pump and its pick up, cheapest and quickest check for poor oil pressure, someone here had the pump securing bolts loose, another a cracked pick up pipe or it could be blocked?
-
Its fixable with a smart repair, i would not have initiated a claim in the first place. A barrister will get you the result you think you deserve.
-
When you say cleaned the relays do you mean there replay plate pins or taken the covers off and cleaned inside and checked for dry solder joints? Do the needles on the dash plummet to there stops when the dault appears shen driving?
-
Its almost impossible to diagnose noises via a video, its hard enough stood in front of them. Oil pressure and compression tests would be a good starting point

Not sold, the seller must have declined the offer (it was sold provisionally as it didn't meet its reserve).

I think they should have reworked a front bumper on the rear to extend the back a little, Audi lights are just wrong, otherwise I do like the shooting brake concept.
