Our extension was refused, neighbours and others (his drinking / crown green bowling chums) 19 years ago, I went to see them asked for copies of the objection letters and had a polite chat regarding what I needed to do to get them trough. 6 inches further in from the boundary and an extra 3 feet back from the original frontage. Passed second time even with further objections

I'd fit a gauge to see what's going on, there's more to oil pressure than the pump - it delivers a volume of oil, the pressure is created by the tight tolerances between the crank and shells (big ends and mains). Get a hose pipe and hold your thumb over the end, the pressure created will send the the water over a reasonable distance, remove your thumb and the pressure drops as does the distance covered. Engines don't need massive oil pressure, they do need enough volume to make the crank journals float on the oil without touching the shells that are made of soft lead / tin alloy (white metal). Its difficult to measure oil volume, but really easy / cheap to measure pressure hence why its used industry wide. I fitted a higher volume oil pump 20 years ago to my 8V GTi, bought from TSR, I think it was meant for a turbo diesel mk2 - the extra volume was needed for the oil feed to the turbo (maybe Vince could help with more info and supply).

If the car goes in gear with the engine off ok, but struggles with the engine running you have a clutch drag issue - the plate isn’t clearing the flywheel. a clutch bleed is an easy fix if there’s air in the system

I doubt you’ll get 10mm to fit as the boss on the rear disk is 18 - 20mm or so. 56mm will bind before the wheel meets the spacer?

I was going to add rim width makes a difference too, a rim with the same offset but 2 inches wider would poke out an inch further out and an inch closer to the strut, nothing is straight forward....

I’d be surprised if it sells, bare in mind an auctioneer car run bids up to reserve and you might not get a real bid. I’ve bought from historics and watched a few online, many don’t sell live, but have offers accepted afterwards. Estimate can be different to The reserve too.

The UK got a VRS 2wd 180 bhp (AUQ engine K03S turbo), 1.8T 4 x 4 150bhp (AUM engine K03, then K03S turbo too, but de-tuned), 1.9 tdi 4 x 4 We never got a MK1 VRS 4 x 4 from the factory

MK1 VRS estate had 256mm vented rear as did the hatch So not a bolt on fit like the solids as they need the cassette type rear bearings mod. Could be lesser model estate though? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a shame, I was hoping you would end the myth of estates having a larger piston in the UK - I've owned a couple and broke both without measuring them

I think I'd be tempted to grind the bolt to reduce its length over extra washers providing there's still enough thread located inside the calliper? I sold Fla Golf estate rear callipers years and years ago, maybe these are the ones? Measure the pistons as estates are reputed to have larger pistons and are sought after - I didn't know this at the time. I'm sure I sent them with the OE bolts so maybe compare the lengths?

Put the handbrake on, chock the wheels and get someone to operate the clutch in gear while you observe engine movement? Pedal sensor for the abs - spirited driving = lots of braking?
