Dunno, but where there's a will there's a way (grinder, welder epoxy. Both my towers and levers are off my own cars, (10V V5 Golf and 1.8T Octavia) both had around 160K miles when I broke them. I drove both of them back to back with my 100K miles VR6 and they were night and day better and basically they're free. The wiki with the polo part numbers has gone, all previous links including purpletoms are now dead ends.

I’ve got a couple of 02j towers, just need the Polo / ibiza shifter Stuff to convert the mk4 lever
-
I’m pretty sure hotgolf (gas n gears) rebuilds these and the gearbox towers too

Removed due potential hazard

Unfortunately not

I used a place in Crewe called mini fords on eddleston road, 2 foot of pipe, 12mm x 1 mm fitting on one end, 10mm X 1mm on the other was £4. Made while I waited 2 mins only. you can measure the route of the pipe with string and the occasional piece of insulation tape adding a couple of inches on for any errors.

Found one on eBay, £300.. usual over priced seller....

When cranking do the rpms display on the tacho?
-
Lowered springs have the larger diameter top plate that early cars left the factory with?
-
They were filthy when I bought the car to the point the auction house sprayed over the brake dust with silver paint... The wheels had been tightened by an animal in a bad mood and the locking wheel bolt key was missing, took a whole day fannying around to get them off, front tyres bald and its first mot due in 2 days........ 45K miles and never been cleaned would be my guess, they did clean up very nicely, so quite rewarding in the end

I just thought that would be a cheap route to an upgrade, my old late VR6 Golf had a spacesaver for sure
-
Interesting about the spacesaver, do MK3s have a larger one?
-
I seem to remember a G60 owner with similar issues reported that the charger had seized? Something else that would prevent the cylinders from filling
-
Sounds like its jumped teeth, retime and check again
-
All rear bakes seize, mk2, mk3 and mk4. The current trend is MK4s, using the original carriers, disks and pads - you will need conversion hoses as MK4s have a banjo fitting For 288s I'd source MK4 288mm callipers and carriers, pads and MK3 288mm disks (MK4s are the wrong offset). You'll need MK3 front hoses with a banjo fitting with these too

I thought early wings were still available? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Strange cuffing noise points towards something being out?

You say rpms are displayed so ecu ecu is powered and hall sensor in the dizzy is working? if compression is ok I’d check ignition timing next
-
They are UK breakdown services
-
Every non start the AA and RAC go to were running fine the previous time the car was used. The engine appears not to move around on its mounts when cranked suggesting a compression issue, there's also an odd chuffing sound?
-
Lack of engine movement and no cam belt cover on, has the timing jumped? What RPM is displayed when cranking?
-
The colour makes it sought after too

Early bumpers, early wings and late bonnet? Nuggets are sort after, so maybe that would spur someone to travel?
