24V Renshaw - 24V V6 - Just read the whole thread!!!!

Ever wondered what a MK4 Golf interior wiring loom looks like..... Now all I have to do is fit it in the rado! :) Got the 24v Lump out of the MK4 today and the gearbox off so its now hanging on the engine crane in my engine bay. Will try and get some more photos tomorrow as the battery went flat today. Jay -
My G60 (now sold to Kevin off the forum to be replaced by the 24v V6) had a BBR chip and 70mm pulley and produced 200BHP and 194lb/ft of torque on a hot day. There were no other mods except for the fact that it was properly rebuilt (new valve guides etc..) and everything was working as it should do. There is no point in tuning up an engine until everything else is perfect, so spend some money getting everything tight and and set-up perfectly, then do the mods and you will get much better results. I would hope if I had continued to mod mine it would have produced some nice figures. Jay

Hurry up and get the RC's on!! :) Jay

After to having a chat with Vince at Stealth he said stick with an 02A box with the standard final drive, as its my daily driver. So I have bought a complete MK3 Golf VR6 engine and box cheap (will be selling off the VR6 engine and loom) and am going to strip down and rebuild the box. I have also bought a Quaife TBD (torque biasing diff) to go in the 02A box. So I reckon that will be a nice combo, a basically brand new 02A box with a Quaife diff. Should work well with the 24v I reckon. Jay

I will probably have it but will check it will be the right one first. speak to you soon mate. Jay
-
May well be interested in that mate. I assume I would need a VR bell housing too? Any idea on the mileage? Cheers Jay
-
What is the difference between an O2J and an O2A gearbox? Can I just buy a newer 02J gearbox and put a VR6 02A bell housing on it? Jay

I know what you mean Paul but I think I will fit it exactly as it is in the MK4, I may aswell being as I have absolutely everything, including all the brackets on the shell which I can drill off and weld onto the Rado shell. Jay -
Right so the VR6 gearbox is an O2A?
-
Right, I have a bit of a dilema. I have the 6 speed box on the 24v V6 but I don't want all the hassle of fitting it to Rado as there are a lot of differences (driveshafts need shortening, gearbox mount needs fabricating, transfer box will get in the way etc..) However I don't want an old VR gearbox in there when everything else is nice and new, but I do want to use the VR6 gearbox as it will mount in perfectly. I have heard that I can use some of the parts from the 4motion box to create a six speed version of the VR6 box anyone know anything about this? Also bit of a basic question but what is a VR6 box, O2M? O2A? and what is a VR6 4motion box? 02???? Cheers Jay

Nah, I will just keep them clean! :) but the auto height adjustment may have to be incorporated. Jay -

Exactly Andi, I am not splicing things together I am putting EVERYTHING in from the 4motion right through to the rear lights, so I will end up with climate control, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, traction control, ABS, EDS etc..etc.. Agree Phat if I do a Turbo/charger conversion at a later date then I will do 4WD at the same time. Jay -

No not yet. I am going to install the V6 and full loom and get that all running properly first, then maybe think about the 4WD, but it is probably not worth the hassle to be honest. Jay -

Steve, Thats my major problem at the moment, finding the time to do it. I am starting work early so I can finish earlier to get on with it. I have given up the gym for now as there is no way I could do both and I drink a bit less at weekends so I can still function the next day! :) Jay -

I will post pics up as I go, but I have a busy couple of weeks removing everything from the MK4 first!! Sounds like an interesting plan, but are they not pretty much on their limit already in the R32 with the T-piston design? Jay -

Cheers, but having had a good look last night at exactly how much there is in a 4motion engine bay I think I agree I am one mad mofo!! :) -

Ah nice one Lee, forgot about that site. Cheers Doesn't seem to have any more than the Engine, ABS and Airbag circuits though. Jay -

Blair, I will have a little fiddle with it before it goes in, nothing major just a couple of things I can do easily while its out. Guy, yes I have the subframe thanks to Bigpantsbaby, I am still in need of a VR gearbox though. Valver. the wiring diagrams would be very very helpful mate. I have the engine one but thats all. Anything you can send me would be much appreciated. Cheers Jay -
or switch it off on Vag-com? All it will do is tell you the cat is knackered so if you tell it to stop looking for the cat it should be OK. Jay
-
I'm just glad I don't have to worry about the prop shaft!! :) At least I know the twin pipes will fit in the centre tunnel. Does anyone do a twin de-cat for the 24v? Jay

Well I will not comment on ball size :), but as for power it is 204BHP and 200Lb/ft as standard. Mine will be de-catted and I am going to get it chipped as soon as it is up and running properly. AMDs chip gives 20BHP so I would hope with a De-cat to be seeing 230BHP/220lb/ft. Plenty for now! More will come later. possibly a charger. Jay -

The 4motion is a VW MK4 Golf 24v V6 4WD. (see example picture) I have bought an entire car (not the one in the picture) salvage to strip the engine. loom etc.. out of and fit everything in my Corrado. Hope that explains it. Jay -

Cheers mate. Hopefully the fabrication will be minimal, but I am a CAD engineer by trade so I can do you some nice engineering drawings if I need something making! :) Jay
