  1. Cheers Kev. Unfortunately having never had a "normal" VR I won't be getting the perspective of how different the 24v is, but I am sure I will have some willing test pilots to let me know! Good to see that people are getting my concept of making the whole car more modern. Jay
  2. gradeAfailure - Cheers mate. I won't be at inters as (assuming the car is done) I am going to Worthersee in it that weekend. I will try and get to as many shows as I can this year though. Phat - unfortunately I don't have the money to just keep the 4WD stuff, much as I would like to. I have had to sell absolutely everything i am not using to fund the project. Jay
  3. Blue 16v - I think that is a compliment, but I would like to hope that is not all I am good at. :)
  4. I think Phil K meant "Never before done" as the fact everything from the MK4 is going in Not just the 24v V6 but also Complete climate control Cruise control ABS, EPS, Traction control VW Alarm and Immobiliser Rain sensing wipers Auto dim rear view mirror MK4 column with height and reach adjust Complete wiring loom so VAGCOM will work. Audi TT dash etc..etc.. Tee hee hee :) Don't worry the option will still be there for the 4WD as and when I turbo it. To be honest I would rather loose the weight and just work with the Quaife diff for now. The Haldex 4WD is not great and it seems like a hell of a lot of work for not much gain to me... but there is always time.. :)
  5. I doubt it mate. I don't think any 24v V6 Rado could look sh*te! :) Question is when will yours be ready for me to come and have a look at my man?
  6. A-men to that Lee. Glad you don't let the fact you have a out and out show car stop you from using it everyday. Jay
  7. Had a very productive weekend so far. The block is freshly painted satin black now and I have gradually started bolting everything on, cleaning as I go. Brand new oil filter and housing, brand new belt tensioner, brand new sump, new gaskets, o-rings, and water pump. Should be good for a few thousand miles. I am getting excited now!! :)
  8. Thanks for your comments Rob H. I look forward to seeing your car at the shows this year. Jay
  9. Cheers Marcus. Will be at the shows hopefully this summer so you can see it then. Nick (skunklook) - Give me a bell about the MK2 mate, I am sure it will be something obvious. Jay
  10. Oh well thats it, I am going to scrap the shell. :) Jay
  11. Cheers mate. I figured if I post up details of what I am doing people will appreciate I am not just dumping in a 24v, but making as good a job of it as I can. Jay
  12. Just a quick update. The engine bay has been 2K primered and sealered around the new MK4 firewall panel and then was painted today, so I can now start fitting everything up tomorrow. I will post pics at each stage of re-fitting everything, so you can see what goes where on a 24v install. Cheers Jay
  13. Good to hear from you mate. You must have known I wouldn't just put the engine in! I am lucky Alex is busy at the moment, I can see myself spending longer and longer in the evenings on getting the car done and I think I will be pushing it a bit with her by the end! :) Engine bay is now in 2K primer, spent all evening flatting the primer down ready for paint this weekend. Jay
  14. Cheers G-lader Thing is thats where it starts. :) Nothing wrong with buying coilovers and wheels, or even just putting a new set of number plates on. As long as people are modding and enjoying Corrados then its all good. Jay
  15. Yeah if mine was a gemini box I might have thought twice, but as I had nothing to lose but a standard VR box, I thought why not. It is now back together and everything seems to work OK. :) Not really much to put in the write up, but when I get time I will post a couple of piccies.
  16. That was the original intention but it doesn't quite work that easily phat. Believe me, we spent a lot of time working out the most effective and simple way. If I had fitted the whole panel the brake servo would have had to move down which would have meant it would have fouled on the inner arch. As it is it fits perfectly. I am using all MK4 stuff in the pedal box, the only difference is the actual mounting for the brake pedal inside is a modified corrado unit. Jay
  17. Yes, I used to have it behing mine. I had the full MK4 climate control set-up behind my Corrado dash. I have also installed it in Guy Hartley and Andi Taylors Corrados. Jay
  18. Yep, I did a trial fit of the aircon unit, giving me the position of the two centre mounting bolts, that gave me a datum. The panel then keeps everything in the right place relative to that point. Big decision to make, but I want it all to be factory and work as it should, so it had to be done. :) Jay
  19. Sort of, I bought a brand new one having established that I was going to be able to use it. The one from the 24v Golf ended up a bit bent by the time I managed to get it out. They are stuck in with sikaflex and are a nightmare to remove. Jay
  20. Thought I would post up a little pic of a bit of a mod to my firewall. :) Basically this will allow me to mount all the MK4 stuff properly and give me the holes through into the car for the aircon and the wiring loom. Hopefully the engine bay will be primered, sealered and painted by easter weekend, so I can start putting stuff in. Jay
