  1. Cheers. I must admit removing the dash was not actually too bad because I made sure when I installed it that everything was done with proper brackets etc.. so it could be taken in and out like a normal dash. I was more excited than nervous to be honest!! :) I think the engine was always something I wanted to do but because the engine has been so reliable I was a bit adverse to doing it, then the salvage 4motion came up and I couldn't refuse!! Jay
  2. Cheers all. The engine bay will be fully degreased, de-cluttered and painted so it will then be easy to clean! I depend on my car for work too. Thats why I have such a short deadline and I am driving a £200 banger to work at the moment! :) I must admit it is quite frightening ripping out all the work I have done over the last 3 years, but it will be worth it in the end! Jay
  3. LOL, I must admit it is quite weird and scary! I am really excited though as it will be like getting a new car. Jay
  4. Just thought I should let everyone know that I have started my 24v V6 install. The G60 is out, the brakes, wheels and suspesion are out as is most of the interior. I will be installing a complete 24v V6 from a MK4 Golf 4motion, along with the entire wiring loom, right the way through to the rear lights as well as the full climate control system and ABS system, which will include the EPS and traction control. I am fitting all new VR6 suspension, bushes, bearings, balljoints, steering rack, discs, gearbox etc.. so it will be a brand new car in terms of running gear. Finally the engine bay will be getting painted as will the underside of the bonnet! I will try and post of pictures of every stage just to show you all whats going on. I have a deadline of 24th April to finish by, so I can take it to Worthersee 2 weeks later! :) Jay
  5. Nope. de-cat yes, but the Corrado exhaust is plenty free flowing enough. Fair enough if you have a massive turbo, but on a NA car it can be worse than having an exhaust that is suited to the engine. Jay
  6. Stick with standard. The only reason to go for aftermarket exhausts is if you want a nice shiny pipe sticking out the back, or want a waarrrrpppp from the back of the car rather than the front (where it should be). Having been through endless different exhausts from different manufacturers on different cars I will never get another aftermarket one. Having a lowered car does not help but they are never perfect in every way. I have admitedly resorted to flushing the rear bumper and putting down pointing tailpipes on in order to make it look nicer than standard! 2p Kerplink Jay
  7. I have actually looked it up on ETKA now and it looks quite different. Think I will stick to finding a VR gearbox. Anyone got one? Jay
  8. Will a 1998 VW Sharan VR6 gearbox be the same as a Corrado VR6 box? Do they have different ratios? Any info would be appreciated. Cheers Jay
  9. Clean the wheels up, stick them on e-bay with a really detail ad, get more money back and buy something else! :) Jay
  10. The front hubs are not big enough to accomodate 5x112, the holes would be right on the edge of the metal, not a good idea. Jay
  11. The rears you could change to Audi one, but you would also need the caliper carriers as the discs are bigger. The fronts is a lot more complicated, nothing fits anything else, if you change the bearings and hubs, you need to change the CV joint, if you change the CV joint you need to change the Driveshaft and so it goes on. Jay
  12. If they are 8x16 you will want to achieve an offset of about ET25/ET30. So if they are already ET40 or less you are going to have problems getting them to look sensible. The adaptors are going to be a minimum of 30mm if you are converting from 4 stud, if you have 5 stud already you are going to need 18mm adaptors. Not good. Jay
  13. Yes it is the same as some Audis (A4 etc..) and also VW Passats, Golf MK5 and others. Yes it will affect you as they will not fit your car without adapters. If they have a high enough offset you will be OK. What width are they and what offset do they have stamped in the back, or under the centre cap? Jay
  14. Yep. Because the lambda is before the cat it makes no difference to the running of engine. All it does is free up the exhaust gasses a bit. So it should be fine. Jay
  15. It should all be stamped on the wheels somewhere.
  16. ET depends on the wheel. most are around 37-42, but some of them are ET 52 and some of the wider ones are much lower. Jay

    WTF Lights?

Sure its not the mouse you have (ref your other thread "RODENTS!!") chewing through the loom and shorting them out! :)
  18. My mate has a totally complete G60 black dash if you want it, with all the pockets, centre tunnel etc.. Jay
  19. What are the differences between VR6 and G60 front struts? Obviously the poundage and damping must be different to compensate for the extra weight. As I understand it the VR6 front shocks are different in another way. I have been told that the part of the strut that is wrapped round the main body creating the two plates that the two large bolts pass through to bolt the strut to the hub is "longer", so that the strut sits further into the car compensating for the wider track of the VR6. This makes sense as when my mate bought a VR6 converted MK2 golf, he could not adjust the camber enough to get the wheels upright, I reckon this is because it was running MK2 (Corrado G60) front struts. Also VR6 struts are as far as I know about an inch longer than G60 ones, is that true. I have never had dealings with a VR6 up until now, so need to check my info. Cheers Jay
  20. Have you fitted the digifant control unit relay, this is what powers up the ECU and hence the fuel pump. Make sure its plugged into the fusebox. Hope that helps jay
  21. You can pretty much always tell a VW coming down the road over any other car. Well I can, maybe I am just a bit obsessed! :) jay
  22. Yeah I do, but I need to fuel my appetite for modifying! jay
