  1. Cheers mate. Yep I will be up at Edition 38 in September. I am hopefully going to have the car up at Harewood house on the 26th June. Jay
  2. It is perfectly normal, the G60 circulates the fuel for some time after switching off. Jay
  3. You can use a stack of thick washers. I didn't really like the look of a big stack of washers so my Dad machined up some 6mm spacers for me on the lathe (handy tool!). I think AMD sell them, but they are 7mm. Still work OK. Jay
  4. 6mm is absolutely bang on for the spacer Timo. I have them on mine and spent a lot of time making sure they were perfectly central. Some people use 7mm but there is actually a bit of an optical illusion and if you check it with feeler guages 6mm is perfect. Jay
  5. If everything goes to plan it should be on the road this week, in shake down form (i.e no interior and not on my new wheels). I will then start building up the interior which is going to take a bit longer now having had a big influence from Worthersee! :)
  6. Glad you all like it. :) Spent this morning getting the MK4 dials to fit in the TT dial pod. Thought they would drop straight in, but there are quite a few differences and a lot of dremmeling was required to get them to go in. Still need to fabricate up some new reset button stalks but I am well chuffed with them as they are in perfectly and no one would know they were different other than when they light up blue instead of white. Jay
  7. I had done 22,000 miles in the year between my two MOT's, was quite shocked, but I guess doing 40 miles a day to work doesn't help! Jay
  8. A G60 is actually cheaper to insure than a Valver, don't ask me why it just is. Fair enough a VR is out, but a G60... Jay
  9. Please don't take this as an insult as I mean this as genuine advice. If you are already wishing your valver was more powerful, why do you not sell the car and ad the extra £800 and get a G60 or a VR? I can understand people who have done a lot to their cars and then decide they want more power, but as you have not had it long would you not be better off just selling it and getting one with more potential? Fair enough some people like the 16v engine and thats cool, but a very nicely tuned 16v is still only putting out low G60 power figures. Just a thought. Cheers Jay
  10. I didn't think the UPS one was there, there were a couple of "copies" of it, but the actual Rothe Motorsport one was not at the show? Jay
  11. Yeah I am looking forward to getting it on the road when I get back from Worthersee and hearing it properly open up. I think the first show I will be at will be the Harewood house one near Leeds in June. Did it sound OK through your decent speaker set-up then? Jay
  12. Don't get too excited, the sound is still pretty useless! :) Sounds amazing in real life, shame that doesn't come across fully in the video Jay
  13. OK Jim its on its way. To really get any decent sound you need to play it through something with a bit of bass!! :)
  14. Right who is online now who I can send the video to, to host it? Jay
  15. Right I have the video, to be honest it doesn't sound anything special in the video. Sounds absolutely mental in real life. The one thing I find amazing is how much the plastic inlet manifold moves when you blip the throttle, it is highlighted by the lights though. Who can host it for me then? Jay
  16. Yeah come on Kev, join the crew. They sound absolutely mental!! :) Really should download the video of the engine running from my camera, doubt I will get chance before i go to Worthersee tomorrow though. Will see what I can do. Jay
  17. mmmmm? Sounds exactly the same as what mine will need. The MK4 pump seems very sensitive to air locks, I will try cracking each of the unions when I get back from Worthersee. I can get the pump running via VAG-COM but it sounds weird, which again suggests airlocks to me. Congrats mate, bet your well chuffed its on the road. Did you manage to fit the engine under the bonnet with the engine cover on? Jay
  18. YES YES YES!!! Can't wait. We are heading over Tuesday, driving down in three cars. We are there until Friday and then we are taking 2 days to drive back. Should be amazing. 25 degrees all week, nice!! Jay
  19. Paul, I hear you managed to get the brakes working, what did you have to do in the end? Jay
  20. Yep and his is not MK4 stuff. There is something fundementally going wrong with the ABS units. My mate had exactly the same on his aswell where he had installed all MK4 stuff and could not get it to work. I have read in a couple of places now that the ABS unit must be kept full of fluid as otherwise it creates airlocks inside it which can't be eliminated.... cr@p design if that is the case!! It makes sense, as the pedal is good until the vacuum assist comes on which would help compress the air pockets hence pedal drops to floor. Jay Jay
  21. Done everything I could in terms of VAG-COM, running it in basic settings and following the bleeding procedure. They are difficult to make sense of to be honest, but I tried every way I could and got the same result every time. Pedal was good until I started the engine and it goes straight down. Basically as if there is an air-lock somewhere.
  22. It would appear that the MK4 ABS unit I have just fitted has at some point run dry of fluid and will now not bleed. (they come primed with fluid when you buy them new). I don't have time to sort another one out right now, so if I plumb the brake pipes to bypass the ABS unit will the MK4 Golf MC and servo work on its own? Can't see why not but thought i would ask... Jay
  23. Just go lie down in a quiet room and think about driving the car when its all finished and working perfectly. You have to come to Worthersee, I still owe you a beer for those TT bits! :) Jay
  24. These things come to try us mate. Stick something on Ebay to make the £60 for a new MC. Jay
