Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)

Drove the car to work this morning and the exhaust is perfect. Sounds completely standard on idle and on the motorway etc.. but put your foot down and you get a nice rich sound which works well with the induction sound of the VR. Very pleased :) Jay -

Cheers Jim. Managed to get the Miltek exhaust fitted today along with the replacement CAT. Cleaned the exhaust up a bit first. Started by mounting the CAT with new stainless bolts and then trimmed the first pipe to allow the middle box to sit just right. Then positioned the rear box and everything lined up absolutely perfectly. Really impressed with how well it fits and all lines up. Sits just right in the bumper. Excuse the filthy car LOL Sounds absolutely lovely. Yet to drive it but it's tight and solid and no where near anything to start knocking. Lots more to do this week, but I will keep the updates coming... Jay -
Nightmare! Some people are just scum! The glue on your car is spray glue so someone spent some time doing that on purpose by the looks of it! Jay

So todays progress started with a stroke of genius for how to sand the edges of the RCs down prior to them going to the powder coaters this week. Jacked up one side of the car and bolted a wheel on. Gently put it in first gear and let the wheel spin while I block sanded the edge. Worked a treat and the rims are pretty clean round the edges now. Next up was the exhaust. Got my miltek to go on and was going to get someone to fit it for me, but being fussy I knew I would be better doing it myself. So today i set about removing the old one which looks all wrong. Had to cut the rear section in two as it went over the rear beam, but it came off easy enough. The clamps and bolts had seen better days aswell! Also found the CAT was rattling so I have one Andy leant me for the lambda probe, so that's now staying and being fitted tomorrow too. Cheers mate. More progress tomorrow..... -
The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

Removed the old exhaust. Tomorrow I have to fit the new one :) -
Hate the lack of cupholder in the Rado? I had an idea..

Love it. One of my single biggest down sides of using the Rado as a daily is no cup holder and this is such a neat solution! -
Rocco Jocco always used to take his wheels to Andrew at http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk Andrew has done loads of my wheels over the years but I live too far away now :( In fact my Corrado is in the "Customers cars" section with the Vette wheels which he did for me. Jay

You are right, but trouble is mate other people said otherwise so I just went for it on a punt :). Width etc is the same so you could easily fit the regulator etc from a non VR one but I want the easy life :) I am putting in brand new genuine rear bushes along with new MK4 calipers, braided hoses, bearings discs and pads. So having had a good look at the beam I have and the beam on the car it turns out the VR6 does have a different rear beam and mounting bracket to all other Corrados. 100% definitely. The brake pressure regulator is mounted differently on the VR6 and as such the brackets on the beam and the mount are different. So the rear beam and brackets I have stripped ready for powder coating are no use to me. However I will get them blasted and coated, so if anyone wants them let me know. :) I have thankfully sourced a VR6 rear beam which is now on its was so I should have that on Monday and can finally get the parts to the powder coaters... There are quite a few coming out of the woodwork round here at the moment. Come along to the NW meet in a couple of weeks... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?62713-25th-March-at-the-JJB-Soccerdome-Trafford-Centre-Manchester Jay

Welcome. It's completely normal behaviour, we all do it :) Walking back to the car at a big open petrol station is my favourite! More pics of the car please, looks nice and clean. 40mm drop should make it sit much better. Jay

Cheers mate, hope your recovery is going OK. The wheels look worse in the pictures because the kurb marks have gone black. I dressed the edges a bit last night and they are coming up much better than I thought. Determined to spend tonight/tomorrow finishing them up ready for sand blasting and powder coating so I can take everything up in one go. Jay -

Exactly. Takes 5 mins. Hacksaw a slit in the metal outer and it will punch out in seconds. -

Made a little bit of progress today. Was down at my mums for the weekend and was able to pick up a rear beam off Stu, cheers fella. He had already stripped it bare, but the mounts and bushes were still in place. So I got it home and stripped off the mounting brackets and then attacked the bushes. To say they are shot is an understatement. Whatever car they were on must have felt awful on the back LOL. So I now have an ever growing pile of bits ready to take to the powder coaters... Included the wheels which I have dismantled and just need to sand down the edges on tomorrow. Jay
