Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
24V Renshaw replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
Popped round to Andys this morning and we spent a couple of hours, between cups of tea, wet sanding and then rotary polishing down one side of the car and the bonnet. Pictures speak a thousand words, but I am gobsmacked by what Andy managed to get out of the paint with just the initial cut. I have a bit of time to spend now working my way round the car in the evenings and getting all swirls out as best I can.... Lots of swirls in the paint. Wet flatted with 2000 grit pad Result after buff... Bonnet looks OK too ;) Coming together slowly.. Jay -

Today saw the start of my rejuvination of the Corrados bodywork. Since picking up the car I have not washed it once and knew that when I did I would then want to "sort" the paint. So today was the momentus day. I was actually pleasantly surprised, as although the paint is really badly swirled and has clearly not been well treated, the actual paint is still excellent and virtually all original. I only managed to clay down one, side but it was already to starting to show its potential. I am off round to Andys in the morning to get at it a bit with the polishers and see how it comes up... more pics tomorrow... The start point... Swirls much.... Initial Wash but nothing more yet.... -
The oil leak will more than likely be from the oil pressure sensor on top of the filter housing. I would dry it all off and have a very good look, then replace that first before you go any further. Jay

I would very happily own your C and want first dibs whenever you sell it. It's very nicely engineered. Stick some bay pics up :) Jay

The vacuum tube from the throttle body to the ECU on the G60 is absolutely critical so make sure that is in really good condition with no tiny holes or perishing. Jay

I have to admit I think they look really good. To be honest they are the best reps I have seen. Only things that would put me off are the price, seem expensive to me and the weight as Reps are always heavy. Car looks lovely though :) Jay -

Whatever it is part number please as I need to do mine :) -
I have to admit to enjoying driving the C again. I find people let me out, move over on the motorway, have a good look at it in traffic etc.. And its not even smartened up yet. To be fair though I have come from driving my X5, which generally was treated with distain by all :) :) Jay

Just to keep this alive, the main man Daves16v is sending me an old LBJ to pull apart. So when I get 5 mins in amongst the Rado rebuild, the engine mounts Group Buy, oh and a two year old and a new born I will see what I can work out from it.

Yeah another DBP VR up this way, I will keep my eyes peeled for you. I feel we need a 2012 NW Corrado meet at Jodrell bank. :) Looks like a good start as a base car, as James said, any plans?

Cheers Bally, long time no speak mate. Enjoying being back behind the wheel of a C and can't wait to get it looking smart. -
Well someone made a tidy profit on eBay then as I think a set sold for £130 odd LOL

Cheers. Yeah the BM is amazing as a family car to be honest and I can't wait to get it back to its previous working order, but I knew I could rely on the Rado, even though it's done 3 times the mileage!! -

With the birth of my second child last week I have been a little distracted from the corrado. However the corrado actually saved the day and got my wife to the hospital when she went into labour, as our BMW X5 decided it didn't want too play ball, so I feel it deserves some love and have finally found a Bodyshop I trust to get it looking respectable (cheers Andy). I am going to get glass out and paint all down both sides and all round the screen to remove any marks and bits. I will probably get the bonnet blown over too thinking about it, just to remove the last 200k worth of stone chips :) Fingers crossed if I get the BM sorted this week I will get the corrado booked in next week while I am still on paternity leave and have it all done by the end of the month. Exhaust and suspension are still to be cleaned up and fitted, but they can follow the paint. Then its just wheels and some serious detailing inside and out :) So here starts the serious progress I hope. Jay -
Booooo! This I why you always need to get auction stealer setup on things you can't afford to miss! You never know when you might not be there to bid. Ping the seller a mail, you never know.... Jay

Sorry Andy :). But in 17" the borbets would probably win :)
-
Out of the two, although an odd looking wheel at the best of times I think the nothelles win. Especially with your love of OEM ish... Jay

To be fair to the missus she did all the hard work :)

Thanks for all the kind words, I have a feeling Max and I will be escaping to the garage away from the girls before too long! Jay

Thought I would let you all know how my Corrado saved the day two days ago. On Friday lunchtime my wife went into labour with our second child. We have a BMW X5 as our "family" car which is an exceptional car by all accounts and has been absolutely faultless for the last 2 years of ownership, but right when we needed it to get to hospital it decided to throw a paddy on the automatic box and I could not trust it to get us to the hospital. So out came the garage key and the corrado was fired into life. Towels, plastic sheets and overnight bag we loaded in along with a very beautiful but slightly scary sounding wife. We set off to the hospital some 5 miles away and put the heated recaros on ;) to help the pain a bit. Suffice to say that we arrived no problem and our beautiful little girl was born at 7:12pm. I will post a pic up later of loading our little girl into the Corrado on the way home and will definitely have to get going on the car now to make it look respectable. So raise a glass to our little Jessica, my wife and to the saviour of the day the Corrado VR6!

Love what you are doing, but I put some of these on my MK4 and the additional unsprung weight ruined everything. Are you planning on bells and rotors? Jay
