  1. Nice idea :) Plus you can do it off a 12v battery as there is no current draw until they are activated. Jay
  2. Nice work on the cover. Who made that for you? Will look mental when its polished. Jay
  3. My mate Doug (with the V5 Rado) had those in his car for a while, but the bearings collapsed with everyday driving and he has ended up welding the turret tops back in. Jay
  4. Yeah I know it will be a long process, but I am happy with the car and this is a project I can play with out of the car (in the warm ;) ) and learn a lot about. Then when its all working and running properly I can install it. As for it being up behind the dash. its only 4 screws to remove the TT glovebox then you have full access to everything behind it. Jay
  5. I am going to put USB connections in the glovebox and a DVD slot in there too all completely stealth. Jay
  6. Up behind the dash. I am going to use a proper mini carputer. I have tonnes of room behind the TT dash. Jay
  7. Nice motor Lee. Knew you wouldn't leave it standard long though :) "Jeff binned the dump valve" Jay
  8. No worries I can duct some of the aircon air to it up behind the dash in the big space normally occupied by the airbag. :) Jay
  9. Well I have a couple of options. Basically hardwiring to the control unit and using a Paralell port to control it (switching as if you are pressing the buttons) or possibly via VAG-COM. I plan to have everything controlled through it. Audio, Video, SAT-NAV, Vag-com, Internet, everything. I was looking at getting DVD player, satnav etc.. and I thought whats the point I might aswell build it all in one upgradeable unit... Jay
  10. I have seen quite a few about. I am planning on using a 7" touch screen in the TT dash, removing the climate control panel and stereo completely and controlling it all through the carputer ;) Jay
  11. Keep us posted on how effective they are Kev... Jay
  12. My next car project is going to be a "Jay Renshaw VW" version of BMW's I-drive system. Basically I want to have a central touch screen that controls everything in the car. I am going to base this around a Carputer and currently have 0 experience of this sort of thing, so I will be self teaching as I go along. Just wondered if anyone has done some carputer stuff yet? Jay
  13. Nice work mate. Keep us posted :) Jay
  14. LOL. yep all a hoax :) NOT. Will be interesting to see what yours will do when we go next year Ben. I am happy with 165, don't think I will do that again for a while. :) Jay
  15. Come down to the Squires meet at the end of the month and I will take you for a spin in mine now its all done. See whether you think it needs 4WD :) Jay
  16. Do you have a TBD in if you are running it FWD? Jay
  17. Good work mate. Will have to come up for that cup of tea at some point :) Jay
  18. Yeah it did feel very comfortable. I got 165 on the clocks, which going from the GPS was 160 in reality, which is fast enough. :) No idea what the RPM was, I wasn't looking :) There was still more there to be honest, it was not really accelerating much but it was still just about climbing, I just caught up some cars and had to back off. Remeber Kev that mine for some reason is the only VR6 Corrado that Vince has had do over 126 in fourth on his rollers when I hit 128. No idea why, but I am guessing its something to do with the 17.2" Corvette rims. Jay
  19. I found it quite comfortable at those speeds to be honest and my mate Nick said it was nice as a passenger. As soon as I hit 165 I had to back off for the cars I was catching, although they are probably doing 100 themselves :) jay
  20. To be honest I would never even get close to doing it over here, value my license too much. I was glad to get the chance to do it legally over there and know what it can do. Jay
  21. lol. Yeah not sure why thats on, but it may be the fastest U2 have been :) Jay
  22. Right its uploaded here. http://www.coupehaus.co.uk/download_page.html Look for Jays Corrado 24v and then the 165MPH vid. Well we did a comparison as I had no idea what my speedo was reading (MK4 clocks, VR6 box, 17" wheels with little tyres) and at 120MPH on my mates GPS, my car was doing 118MPH. So I reckon 165MPH is about 160MPH in reality. Fast enough :) Jay
