  1. Jeez Jay - I'd have thought you'd have managed to get trade prices with all the bits you buy! - last lot I got worked out as £6.50 +vat... Yep it's good stuff tho and suits most vag engines as long as there not too tired, and yes - it's made by castrol LOL Unfortunately I have moved oop narf since doing all the work. I generally phone down to Bournemouth VW and get my bits sent up now as I don't trust them up here yet :) Jay
  2. I think I might have some fusebox cover clips kicking about in a box somewhere.... I cannot bear stuff not being screwed together properly, infact I would go so far as to say its an obsession. Still means my car is squeak and rattle free :) jay
  3. I am considering putting a touch more camber on the rear. Are the shims for putting behind the stub axles? jay
  4. Just use quantum silver. Cheap as and a superb oil for all the VW engines. £17 for a 5 litre bottle from the dealer!! Jay
  5. I run powerflex throughout the front end and OE rear beam bushes. Find it superb with everything else now sorted and brand new. Jay
  6. I am pretty much certain that late are not the same as a MK3. Jay
  7. Interestingly there is actually a difference in castor between the VR and the 16v/G60 subframe/wishbone setup. Jay
  8. Dr.Forinor - Have you had you car lowered (look at your piccy I would say you have) If so the bias valve may not be seized but just needs adjusting. Basically when you lower the car the valve will apply more force to the rear brakes as it thinks there is more weight in there (suspension sitting lower). If you have lowered the car without adjusting the valve this will cause more force to the rear hence the twitchy, locking up rear end. Basically get under the back of the car (with it still on the floor or on ramps)and have a look up just infront of the rear beam on the passenger side. There is a plunger device with a wire hoop which is bolted to a bracket on the subframe. Undo that clamp bolt and allow the pressure to release on the plunger. The unit may be seized in which case that plunger will not move. As for having to "cut it off?" not sure what Supercharged means by that, it all just unbolts.... Jay
  9. So how much for a pair then Niels? Jay
  10. Welcome mate. Looks tidy. Get some daylight piccies so we can get a better idea of what it looks like. I reckon you are right about getting grey kneebars, the black ones look a bit out of place. Jay
  11. That was so four years ago :) Jay
  12. Mike - Nothing special mate, just a refurb. The hard winter has seriously taken its toll on the wheels (mainly my fault through not looking after them enough). I have thought about all sorts of options, but I just want them to be fresh for Worthersee and last through the winter months too. Gaz - Cheers mate. I am looking forward to the time in the future when I have a proper workshop and facilities. Then I can build something a bit special. :) Jay
  13. Bill - Cheers for the bits dude, glad you enjoyed the quick spin round the block. Pierced Winky - Cheers mate. I am looking forward to slowly modding the car now from its current state. Richie - WOW! Can't believe you read all 83 pages!!! Thanks for all your nice words. I definately don't have a "fully-functional work/body shop" to do the work in. Just a small garage and a toolbox :) Jay
  14. Oh dear, now I want BBS RS's again :( Jay
  15. Not on MSN mate, down at my folks this weekend. You need to make sure the earth is perfect and well connected to the main body. The earth for the block comes directly off the bodyshell so make sure that all of the contact points are clean metal. What voltage is the battery reading? Jay
  16. Evening mate. Where and how are you earthing it? Jay
  17. It may see something creeping into the engine bay over the winter, but I think it will be belt driven.... My Dad took me for a spin in my Rado earlier today. He used to do a bit of rallying so it was good to be driven proper fast down some country lanes in my own motor. He was pushing on a bit but the car felt well and truely planted which was nice to experience as a passenger. He was impressed with the car... which is cool 8) Jay
  18. Cheers Paul. I have to admit I am damn pleased with what I have built. I know you always say what you think so its a massive compliment what you have written about the car. I want people to come out in it as much as possible to see that its a very very heavily modded car that is tight, solid, smooth, quick (but not quick enough :) ), practical and handles, but drives like a modern factory car. There is that un-modest enough Paul :) Jay
  19. Liking the black and gold Furkz. Think you should make more of that. 8) Jay
  20. Sorry Kev :) I will be fitting my front components this weekend, but you won't see them either :( Jay
  21. Just thought it might be of interest that my insurance is due, which means its been exactly a year since I did the 24v conversion and got it on the road. It was only in shake down mode then, but it was mobile and after sorting the inital teething problems, over the last year I have done 19,000 trouble free miles :) Chuffed is not the word. Jay
  22. Down on the front of the block at the bottom, just to the side of the engine mount. It has a connector to it and is bolted to the block with an M6 socket head bolt. Jay
  23. I thought that.... so I modernised it and bought it into the present day :) Jay
