The 12v VR waterhousing fits straight on the 24v head and pipe mate. So does the waterpump (I think) but I did buy a new 24v pump so can't say for sure.... Jay

They are different mate. The V6 one points down, where the Diesel one points upwards. I can't even see under the front of my car without jacking it up, let alone change the filter :) Jay -

Did an oil change on the 24v last night. How Easy!!! Much easier than any other car I have ever done. Plus the oil, filter and sump plug only cost a total of £21 from VW. Nice! :) Jay -
24v specific. £60 ish from VW Jay

Engine Speed Sensor (G28). Down on the front near the engine mount. That will almost certainly be the cause of the funny thing at 5800Rpm. Could also be something to do with the dials. First off try removing it, cleaning it and putting it back. If that doesn't help replace it. Jay

Bu99er. Still glad to hear its out of hibernation Andy. Just goes to show they should be used :) Jay -
Sounds like a knackered pump. Did you turn the steering at all without the pump running? jay

Had a good productive easter weekend on the car. Now the car is all tight and solid and I have fitted sound proofing everywhere. I have started improving the anti rattle/squeek properties of the car. I bought (well got a free roll) of some automotive anti squeek tape from a specialist company and am working my way through the car to eliminate any noises. Starting at the back and working forward. Also replacing any tired clips and straps while I am at it. Difference is amazing and I still have a lot to do. The pic shows how I have taped all over the mounting surface of the parcel shelf support. Did one side and press on it, no squeeks. Anal I know, but its worth it in my obsessive opinion ;) Jay -
Steering rack issues solutions and swaps....

Because the VR wishbones have locating 'horse shoes' for the bushes, the valver/G60 platform doesn't. Mine's been completely clonk free for nearly a month now, pretty sure that was down to the natty GSF tie rods. Who have thought the front bolts could cause a clonk? Strange! Glad it's sorted tho.... I think Jay is fussier than me, so I can guess how frustrating that must have been. Mike, I've been that man too. Easily done :-) The first clue if you don't spot it straight away is a nice vibration in the floor as the ARB chews it's way through the front pipes, LOL! I hope you fitted the bushes the right way round too ;-) Interestingly mine is completely clunk free now and I have GSF Trackrods (the only non OE part on the car now) and its perfect. Not a single knock or clunk on the whole car. Absolutely loving the drive now, the steering is accurate, tight and consistant. Unfortunately for everyone else, every single component of the running gear is now brand new..... sorry guys. Jay -
You lot have just comfirmed what I said. This can be caused by all manor of worn components, or road conditions etc.. Jay
-
Front wishbones bushes, knackered steering rack, knackered anything on the suspension could cause this. Bad tracking, bad camber and bad roads can also cause it. Also check everything is tight (to the correct Torque) as the settings are very high for the Rado suspension parts. Jay

I got new ones just to be on the safe side, but they are not stretch bolts so it should be fine. I ran a tap through the threads just to make sure they were nice and clean too. Jay -
I am going to go get me some wiper inserts. Awesome tip mate. My Lupo wipers were great when I first fitted them, but now they judder like mad. You can't actually buy the blades on their own from VW you have to buy the whole arm+blade. So this is a major bonus. Top work fella :) 8) Jay

Lee- the problem is all they do generally is replace the seals and re-grease everything, that in my eyes is not "rebuilding" a rack. That is exactly what I bought and it was a pile of the proverbial. Having fitted my brand new SEAT one I cannot stress how much better the car feels than it ever has before. I now understand why people rate the Corrado so highly for its handling. :) Jay -
LOL. Grilles is it Furkz :) Or is it just sick in your teeth after last night :) Jay
