  1. Looking amazing there, Rob! How shiny? 8)
  2. Agreed! When the Prelude came out, it was pretty special. However, like the Probe, it's aged terribly. Calibra is actually quite a nice looking car, and as you say, with a few tweeks still looks good today. The Corrado looks good full stop. It has dated, but again, a few tweeks and it looks much more modern. Amazing how just changing tails and side indicators can transform a Corrado.
  3. Looks great, Jim 8) Pull your finger out and get some pics up of the engine bay! :) Looking back a few posts- prefer the half smoked tails to the all reds- just think it's a bit tooooo red with those on ;)
  4. Like it! 8) Where are the centre caps?
  5. I'd steer well clear, John- right pair of cowboys  Looks like you've done well there, mate- plenty of bargains to be had at the mo ;)
  6. I had cloth recaros, ARZ smoked tails, debadged grille... I'm waiting for pics of the Speedlines, as mine were gunmetal too! Reckon V-Dubstar was stalking me
  7. Hello mate, glad you've started up your own thread - car's looking great! When I saw it a few weeks ago, I couldn't believe how similar it was to my last VR! Love the leather Recaros- can't wait to see pics of the wheels 8)
  8. Ah, didn't notice he was that young! Maybe a prob then...
  9. I would just go straight for a VR. If you buy a 16v, you'll end up wanting one pretty soon anyway. Insurance shouldn't be much different (only one group difference unless you get a Storm) and MPG is pretty much the same. G60 is worth a look (If it was me I'd have a VR though ;) ), although you'd have to put up with the early interior and exterior (bonnet, grille, lights etc) unless you got a K reg. It's a very different drive to a VR- they're good in different ways. As others have said, drive them all, and try to drive as many examples as poss. Be prepared to spend as much as you can on a decent example, although there are bargains to be found.
  10. Went to Castle Combe last Saturday and had a bit of a thrash around the track. Was joined by DazyCrave and Vornwend. Dazy was my much needed navigator, for my first ever track session- twas initially a little daunting, but it's amazing how much you improve in a short time :) Dave was on form (unitentially!)- we hired our helmets, and I said 'I'm off to the loo,' Dave replied 'I;ll hold it for you,' Then, when watching the in car video of the track run he was shouting 'Hard-on, hard-on!' Spending too much time with Tom? Lap times: 1. 2:09   2. 1:54 3. 1:47 4. 1:42 5: 1:37 8) Would love to have an instructor session sometime...
  11. Love it 8) Remember seeing this car advertised- looked awesome! Anyway, back OT, how are you getting on with the vRS search, Karl? Was that one for £2895 any good?
  12. Two yesterday after 7pm. Dark blue slammed 16v/8v in Wotton, driving down Bear St. Reg ends in BDT- seen this before. White early (16v?) at roundabout near Vue cinema, Cribbs Causeway.
  13. Couple of good buyers to thank- V-Dubstar ShaunG60 Just_say_meth Cheers guys for hassle free transactions 8)
  14. Good stuff, Vaughan 8) Much better than 280s - look good too :) Still love the BBS wheels- gorgeous!
  15. Good choice of choons there, Jon! Dayvan Cowboy & The Girl With the Sun in her Head- awesome! 8)
  16. Jon, isn't yours the N/A 20v? The 20v really needs the turbo! There are lots of variations in the 1.8 20v engines- the Octy vRS has the AUQ. The only other car to have this exact engine AFAIK is the MK4 GTI (180 BHP). It's got really good low down/mid-range torque. On my way to work (20 mins) I usually get around 32-34 mpg. On longer journeys it's up around 36-39 mpg. Even when you drive it hard, it still manages mid to late 20s. Re: stalling - learn to drive, you muppet! ;)
  17. Oh yeh- pretty sure you can get a towbar, and as Chris says, Briskoda is a superb website! 8)
  18. You called? :salute:  I've got a MK1 estate and absolutely love it. The only specific prob I can think of is with the hatchback is if it's been raining and you open the boot quickly, water kinda pours into the boot  Thats it! Get one- you can't really buy a better car for the money IMHO. Look out for the options such as xenons, cruise, heated seats, sunroof etc. Colour code the chrome grille asap though ;) And yeh, it's great sticking two fingers up to the ridiculously ignorant badge snobs (especially when they drive French stuff!)
  19. :( Looking good as usual 8) How long until your next big day? :)
  20. I tried getting one from GPC last year- they told me not to bother as it's over 5ft once wrapped, so the new postage charges would be over £20!
  21. BMC should be fine- more lightly oiled than the K&N. Lots of people on here run them with no probs at all. Decent gains to be had too- my last VR gained 7 bhp with a BMC. Leave the pipe off the front though- more noise + doesn't make any difference to the power ;)
  22. Very nice- reminds me of my first 16v :) Nice, rare colour 8)
  23. Very nice! Liking the mods- OEM+ 8) Re: handling- defo worth getting a rear anti-roll bar on if you haven't already. One of the best mods I've done on the vRS.
  24. Had forgotten these even existed! Such a lot of car for the money- love it 8) Got it yet, Karl?
