  1. All the warranty stuff really depends on how long you intend to keep the car. A Leon or Octavia will be substantially cheaper to maintain than a BMW once the warranty has expired. I would also say that the Leon/Octavia will probably be more reliable, and you won't have the BMW 'rep tosser' stigma  If you want a new car, go for it. Sounds like you can manage it comfortably enough. I can understand the 'fors' and 'againsts', but at the end of the day, it's your choice :) . Keep us posted!
  2. Great clip- C comes out best. Liked the Ferrari comments 8) I guess the 4G Prelude looked pretty good when it came out. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged too well, whereas the C has aged brilliantly (apart from tail lights and ride height! ).
  3. Forgot to say- did you see Fifth Gear last night? Took a mechanic nearly 50 mins to change a light bulb in the Megane. Some Renault garages were charging upwards of £200 to change a bulb! Absolutely stoooopid design :bonk:
  4. Have you got the vRS as comp cars? The interior is superb! Just about the best seats I've ever sat in 8) I would defo go Octy or Leon. No brainer with the price vs the Golf. Think the Leon looks nicer, but the Octy will be better built. The visibility in the Leon is also pretty poor.
  5. Good choice- the Accord is a very underrated car. www.forum.hondaevolutions.com is OK. Used to be a very busy Forum, but there have been a few probs in the last couple of years, so it's quieter now. Apart from that, there's a couple of decent Prelude Forums I know of, but that's no use to you.
  6. Thanks Jon :) It's just a damn good car. Simple as! It's a good example- obviously there are a couple of imperfections in the bodywork, but nothing that can't be sorted easily. It runs very well- no knocking, starts on the button and feels responsive. Had a 4-wheel alignment and 3 new tyres and it feels great. Will get a service in a couple of months. Forgot to say, I've had the vRS remapped too 8) However, you can't tell it's been remapped, cos the N75 valve is goosed. Getting it replaced under warranty this week. Then it should go like a rocket! Will at Performance Torque reckoned it should be good for at least 215 bhp and 230 lb/ft 8)
  7. What an amazing transformation! Good work, Neil. How long do you reckon it'll take to totally finish? (I know Corrados are rarely 'totally finished', but you know what I mean ;) ).
  8. Looks really tidy. Aqua is such a nice colour 8) Plans?

    help!!

Good call- that's what I'd be checking first...
  10. As above /\/\ -they look superb 8) Simple, but really effective 8)
  11. Well, sold the Prelude and got something 'sensible' for Rach. I wanted a Toledo/Golf/Bora, but she's always wanted a Focus. We looked at a few, and I've got to say I'm totally won over. Plenty of toys, handles well, looks good, quite cheap to maintain, nippy, practical etc etc. Plenty of feel through the steering, which is also nicely weighted. I've been surprised just how well they are put together too. We plumped for the 2.0 16v Ghia- 2 owners, 88K, FSH, metallic black etc for £2K! Bargainous! Book price is around £2600...
  12. Chris, good choice in the vRS. Fantastic engine! 8) Why are you thinking of selling the C?
  13. Love this car! Good choice of wheel there, Charlie- as you say, nice and mean 8) As Jim says, how does the 'box feel after the rebuild? How much difference has the diff made?
  14. Vaughan, you can get the lead removal tools from Zerocool on here. I've got one too, so if you need to borrow it, just give me a shout :)
  15. As you say, nice to know it was well looked after before you bought it 8) Would love a drive... ;) No news yet... it's a waiting game! vRS is getting mapped tomorrow  Will hopefully get upwards of 210 bhp, so not too far behind you ;)
  16. Brilliant stuff! You'll have to take me for a spin ASAP! 8) How long did it all take? I hate waiting around for hours when things are being done to the car
  17. Re water dripping in- get some wind deflectors- actualy look good on a C (e.g. on Jimbo's old 16v 8) ). Other crap things- headlights centre tunnel fitment
  18. I was about to ask the very same thing! Good work, Dave :) Nice to see the humble valver getting some attention ;)
  19. Obviously, hold onto it - no-brainer if it's financially viable :)
  20. Wish I was more like you! Think 3 years is my record with the vRS. Had a 306 for around 2 years. Longest I've had a Corrado for was my last VR- had it for 1 1/2 years.
  21. Thanks, Fay. Will defo stick with this one- already had it 3 years (some kind of record for me!) as it's our 'family' car ;) Yep, a superb class- will really miss them :( The boys were really into their cars, football, Star Wars etc, so we got on very well ;)
  22. It sure is! All gone quiet on the Briskoda thread though. Will have to give them a call. Turns out their Stage 1 is 'off the shelf' and their stage 2 is custom. Think I may just go for a Stage 2 anyway as there's not that much difference in price anyway. Thanks for the boost gauge tip 8) My brilliant Year 6 class teamed up to buy it for me as a leaving present 8)
  23. Cheers, Vaughan. Yeh, got more important things to worry about at the mo! ;)
  24. You just can't beat a good 'pootle', top marks to Rach :D Trip to Jabbasport then Andy? Custom remap? or going for generic? Dave, was thinking of a remap from Performance Torque in Wolverhampton. They were doing an offer on Briskoda a while back for a Jetex catback, with mid silencer removed + stage 2 remap with before & after dyno runs, all for under £500. Thought this was an amazing price, and people seem well chuffed with their maps. Not too sure whether they're custom or off the shelf- will do some research. Not sure if the offer is still on either- will have to find out. Rach's idea of a 'pootle' is slightly different to yours! Any idea how to fit a boost gauge? Fancy giving me a hand sometime? :) bcstudent- was only gonna go stage 2 if I could get the above deal with the exhaust. Otherwise, it prob wouldn't be worth it with the only other mods being BMC CDA and Forge DV. I've thought of maybe getting just the mid silencer taken out by the local Longlife centre. They did his on my last VR6. Did a good job + v. cheap :D Will have a look at TIPs, not sure if my budget will stretch though.
  25. Love the tractor! Loving the G60 rims too- always a lovely wheel, just absolutely horrible to clean
