  1. Sounds like a very productive day! You could've popped in and said hello- not far from Wilts :) Did you go down the M5?
  2. These are much better IMHO ;)
  3. bigpants baby, can you PM me a price please mate :)
  4. Looking really good! The old lights really do date the car badly imho.
  5. craigowl, that ECP part no is the same as mine, but the number on the pump is 0 392 020 024, not 251 965 561 B. Surely the ETKA number should tally with the one on the pump? Getting totally confused here! oxfordpaul, cheers for those- exactly the same as yours. I'll just have to go and have a chat with the parts guy at VW and try to get to the bottom of it.
  6. Trig, think Galactica is brilliant! Really strong characters, plot etc, nice and gritty, excellent SFX. My wife likes it and she can't stand most Sci-Fi.
  7. Used them a few years back, and they were excellent. There have also been CCGB RR days there in the past. They have a very good reputation- similar to Stealth really I guess. However, in recent times I think they've been more involved with the newer VAG engines, and concentrate much more on 1.8T's, FSI's etc than the good 'ol VR6's and G60's etc. Given the choice, if I was going to travel, I would go to Stealth as it's a similar distance.
  8. oxfordpaul, the existing bulb holders work. Had to squash them in a bit to get them in OK, but they're fine.
  9. oxfordpaul, would be very grateful if you could let me know- thanks! :) bigpants baby, ball-park figure?
  10. Been on here before, but it's a good watch 8)
  11. Fuel filter. Just changed the one on my new VR (which had been Kangarooing) and it must have been the original one- looked like it was growing out from under the car, it was so rusty. No more kangarooing now :)
  12. Try adjusting the timing yourself and see if it makes any difference. Just undo the bolt at the base of the dizzy and twist the dizzy (engine running, clockwise/anti-clockwise) slowly until it sounds smoother. Then take it for a drive and take it from there. May take 2 or 3 attempts to get it running better. Worth a shot as a temp fix until you can get it sorted properly. If that is the prob of course! I cleaned the ISV a couple of months ago, but can't do any harm to do it again.
  13. Hmmm, Richard usually knows what he's talking about. Just ask him to fit them, whether he thinks it's necessary or not ;) I've got Koni coilovers on the VR, and the ride is excellent. Not too harsh at all, but much better than standard for handling- car stays lovely and flat. Coilovers are much better than a kit (springs/shocks).
  14. Which garage is it, mate? That's a bit concerning. Was he intending on keeping the old ones on 'cos they're in decent nick?
  15. Oh no! Hope you get it sorted, Andy. Any other symptoms? Could it be the timing? I know Blake said the ecu would adjust for it, but I'm not convinced. When Vince at Stealth fitted the dizzy, he said the timing would need to be set up properly.

    vibration

Aftermarket exhausts often sit on or very near, the rear axle, and will vibrate against it when accelerating or if you've got extra weight in the car. I cured it on my last car by cable tying some rubber rad hose (cut in half) on the axle. Worked a treat ;)
  17. The brakes will need a bit of time to bed in, then another bleed.
  18. You don't hang around!
  19. Just had a look at the one ECP sent yesterday and the no on it is: 0 392 020 024! Looks absolutely identical apart from the plug.
  20. Thanks Dom. Is that the only one listed?
  21. Can't believe this! Gutted for ya :(
  22. Right, this is now getting ridiculous! ECP have sent me the wrong part 3 times! There doesn't seem to be any getting through to them what part I need. Each time they've assured me it's the correct one, and different to the last one they sent... So, I'm gonna get one from VW instead. Before I order it though, I want to make sure I've got the correct details. Does anyone have the correct part number? The one I need has a plug with just one 'groove', whereas the part ECP keep sending has two. It's identical in every other way. I could just file off the two ridges on the pump, but want to try and get the correct part first. Starting to wonder if it's obsolete. Your help would be much appreciated! Thanks.
  23. A1 VR6, I know Japanese cars don't have much soul and can be bland, but if someone wants something very, very reliable but still quick, nothing else compares in my experience. Personally, I'd much rather be driving around in a Corrado, but they are expensive to run. steve @, my last VR was similar for around a year, then I was hit with 2 or 3 big bills in quick succession. You never know with cars of this type/age. Still love 'em, just don't think it's the right car if someone wants total reliability.
