Rob_B, where does it need to be plugged in on the fuseboard? What colour is the wire?
-

How do I turn my 2.0 16v into a bad mutha f**ka?
CazzaVR replied to staffs_til_i_die's topic in Engine Bay
As Jim says, KR inlet cam is the cheapest mod and gives good results. Panel filter is worth doing. Flowing the head also gives good results on the 16v. -
That's a Vauxhall for you  Nah, if the car is idling, it's still using petrol, but going nowhere, so not putting any miles on the clock, yet still using fuel. = low miles per gallon.

Found loads on Ebay- a lot of them are really cheap- 80p! Don't think I'd trust one of those! There are some NSK ones, but they only come in sets of 5 for £25.40 + p&p. Anyone else want one if I get them? £6 delivered?
-
Don't think they're available. Never seen one personally. Could be wrong though!
-
The car is still running, but you're not going anywhere, hence the low mpg. Perfectly normal. I remember getting stuck in traffic after a Hammers game a while ago and my C was showing 8 mpg after an hour!

Welcome! :) I'm a Carrick C owner too! ;)

Hello and welcome! :)

Scarlet, VR's usually idle at around 1000rpm when you first start the car. After a couple of minutes the idle should drop to around 650rpm. Mine's pretty much the same as yours. Also has a drinking problem like yours too!
-
Bill, didn't you mean 500rpm? That's what I was on about ;) See what you mean about the needle stop. Strange as all the other increments are 250rpm :?
-
Bill & Scarlet, what have you two been drinking?!
-
That's around 650rpm... The first line is 250, and it goes up in increments of 250. Looks fine to me! :)
-
Pretty sure you can get them- they fit a couple of other models too. You can't get the badges though. I bought some 3-4 years ago, and put the small rear chrome VR6 badges on them instead of the Corrado ones- looked pretty good imho :)
-
Interesting- I expect the Halfords is much cheaper than the others too? May be worth a shot.

My renewal quote this year was quite an increase. Got a good quote elsewhere and used that to barter with. Eventually got them down to a little over £300 with protected no claims, fully comp etc. They even gave me a big CCGB discount (over £50!) and didn't charge me the usual £25 admin charge for swapping cars. I think it really depend on who you speak to. The woman who I spoke to was excellent.

That was what I was thinking. Certainly not feeling flush, so Ill go for Synta Silver. Cheers Steve! :)
-
Inherited a big bottle of the stuff with my VR- is it OK to use? Or should I just get some Synta Silver and stick the Castrol on Ebay? Cheers!

Pretty sure they're the same. Best place for a new, primered badge is VW. Chrome badge http://www.arztuning.de

Had a similar prob recently- now it's cured :) Check that the sponge from the black plastic ISV box hasn't been sucked into one of the hoses- mine had, so I just removed it completely. Totally fixed the stalling. Then did the ECU reset (in the Wiki), and the car is now running even better. Hasn't even remotely tried to stall, and idles pretty smooth for a VR. Also worth checking that all the intake pipework is connected properly and there are no leaks. As eatthis says, also worth cleaning the TB.
