Turns out my car was serviced by the previous owner by VW near my parent's house. Paid them a visit today to see if they could print off the old service records and they refused, saying it was a breach of customer confidentiality! :? I could understand this if I wasn't the registered owner, but as I am the owner I don't see the problem. Anyone else had similar problems? Really want to see what was done to the car before I bought it- I've got the fully stamped service book and a few reciepts, but no service printouts :( Cheers

Heard that too. My 16v was 1992 pre-facelift, and the sunroof didn't close on it's own.

CazzaVR replied to brian g60 corrado's topic in Engine Bay
Brian, Glad they went on OK- any pics yet? They looked excellent on the valver 8) :D -
Kev, changed both forum name and signature to avoid anymore confusion! :D Thanks for the tip- think I'll just go for the OEM/SACHS one. Feels OK to me, although it smells like it's burning sometimes. AmD said the pedal was lifting up too far :? Cheers

Thanks guys. Think I need to change my forum name :? as I have a VR6 now. There's bound to be an AndyVR6- I'll give it a go :D

Identifying members of the forum at the CCGB Day?
CazzaVR replied to Rams's topic in General Car Chat
Good idea Ant. Then, when we get there we can head for Jim's Saxo :D -
AmD advised that my clutch would need replacing soon. What's the best option? Should I go with OEM/Sachs (which are around £120) or a performance clutch such as Black Diamond as they're not much more? Cheers
-
Hmmm, not sure about this one. It was just a straight bolt-on swap with my 16v, no modding required. Not sure about the VR, but shouldn't be that different :?
-
Joe M, yeh, that's the thing. I've got a K & N induction kit (which was already fitted when I bought the car) and apparently it was the wrong way around!  Jim, yep, barring a disaster I'll be there. The car is running really nicely now, although still needs lowering, stainless exhaust, new clutch, front discs, resprayed bonnet (bloody stonechips  ) etc etc...... Corrados eh? Hopefully you'll be able to attend in something new too :) Any joy?

Finally sorted today by AmD :D Turns out the air mass meter was fitted incorrectly! Can't believe that 2 different garages didn't pick this up (especially the VW specialist  ). The car feels totally different and sooo much better. Idles nicely, has smooth pick up on acceleration and no jerking on decelleration. Cheers AmD! :D

Cheers guys, never got to the bottom of it and have since sold the car for a VR6, which, for different reasons is also driving me nuts!

Checked the coilpack, and didn't seem to be any sparking. Reckon it's probably a good idea to do the epoxy thing anyway just to make sure. Will clean out the ISV at the same time. Let you know how I get on!
-
Nice one, Guy :D Had a look at the coilpack before, but not properly. I'll have a proper look this time. Cheers.
-
Lanny, glad you got it sorted mate! :D

Booked in at AmD for a week on Monday :D If they can't sort it, I'm gonna be very worried indeed! I'll let you know how I get on.
-
Cheers mate, They use VAGcom at the garage I'm taking it to, so hopefully they'll be able to sort it. I'll let you know.
-
Nope! Fitted the new valve/hoses, and it's still the same :( Taking it to a VW specialist today, and if they can't sort it, I'll pay AmD a visit in a couple of weeks. The car is soooo rough on start up, and really jerks when you take your foot off the gas in lower gears. Not great when you floor it either

I used rear Passat mechs, you just push the childlocks up manually. I think. A while ago and my memory ain't so good... It was never a problem, and the de-locked handles worked perfectly with the remote key fob. Ant?
-
Yes mate, It's me :D Glad you've made it onto the forum! Changed your mind again?  Think you'd miss it too much if you sold it. Yeh, think I'm gonna have trouble keeping my license down to 3 points!
-
Rams, nice one- pretty easy to do too. Get the mechs from a scrappy- cost me about £10, and got the handles from VW, about £18 each from memory :D
-
Passat handles & mechanims- you can do both sides for less than the cost of one Corrado handle with a few quid to spare :D Best mod I've ever done.
-
Macca, Are you Guy perchance? :)
-
Nice! 8) One of my neighbours around the corner has a red VR6 :D 8)

Mike, Cheers, let us know how you get on :) VW called to say they THINK :? they have the correct part now, will go and get it this afternoon (was £60 ish). If it's wrong again, I'll go for the Ford bit.
