  1. Can't stand them myself :pukeright:
  2. Yeh not a bad idea - need to find the colour in high temp tho...
  3. Has anyone used any of the repair kits from Biggred? Their ebay shop sells a complete set (piston seals and slider pin seals) much cheaper than VW but Im unsure as to their quality?
  4. Ah thanks dude - been searching their site and couldn't find one, will pop in tomoz seeing as they're open bank holidays :D
  5. Yeh? I was thinking black to go with the whole tinted look about the car (specially with the fogs/indicators now) But I love green cars + red calipers!! :cuckoo:
  6. Yeh likewise!! Not even a 7mm in my Draper 100+ socket bits set either! Or the 3 sets of allen keys I own :bad-words:
  7. Thanks dude! Brilliant lol, gotta locate me a 7mm then!
  8. Am I right in assuming the slider pins are to fit a 7mm allen key or socket, the ONLY one I don't seem to have?! :mad2: Or is it imperial? I have a 1/4" allen socket but that's too small...
  9. Lol, I was doing a search about 15-20mins ago on Limewire for a song that came into my head randomly from yrs ago - Firefly by InMe. Didn't have it on Limewire, but looking through the results came across 'Firefly' by an artist called 'Corrado', with an album self titled! Thought may as well give it a listen, and actually quite liking it!! It sounds to me like kinda blues/rock! Normally I have to listen to things a few times to get into it, but Im lovin' this from the offset! Maybe I am a little biased, tho
  10. What is the correct way of tightening? I've always done em up quite tight to get everything to 'join together properly', then loosened the nut off, then nipped it up..?
  11. @ your sig dubweiser!!
  12. What happened to urs bud? Any opinion on caliper colour?
  13. Ok, will take new photo's and update soon. Basically having a small brake overhaul. The rear calipers seem to be seizing, regardless of putting the Biggred re-con'd calipers I bought off Pete :( Also I think the N/S handbrake cable may be busted!! So...I've bought some 288's from a late mk3 VR6, gonna get some mk4 rear's too. Bought Brembo discs for all round, probably gonna go Greenstuff pads all around. Hopefully gonna get myself booked into DG sometime soon to get the work done, new handbrake cables and have the hard brake lines replaced too. Overall, Im thinking my braking experience afterwards will be awesome compared to the sketchy system I seem to be running as is. I have a snapped drop link too, so Im gonna replace both sides, replace both wishbones with the R32 bushes, and balljoints at the same time as doing the links. Probably gonna take the sump off to do the O/S wishbone as it needs the oil changing and will take the opportunity to give the sump a good clean and put a fresh gasket on. Hopefully will get all this done relatively soon, MOT is due around the 25th of May so in an ideal world gettin' it sorted by end of April would be ace to get it booked in early! So, gonna start re-furbing the 288's tomorrow, and I wanna know people's opinions on what colour I should paint the fronts and back? It's between red and black, btw... Here's a couple of side-on'ish' pix for people to gain a perspective... 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC01693 (2).JPG[/attachment:2uz3f5sz] DSC01687.JPG[/attachment:2uz3f5sz]
  14. Does anyone know the tensile grade the 2 cap-head bolts are that hold the rear carriers on? Im thinking of getting some hex-headed bolts to replace them, but wanna make sure they're the correct grade! Many thanks :D
  15. Mine will be for 288's and standard rears...
  16. Yeh cheers Kev, might just go for the Green's then and i'll have an extra £16 to throw VW's way at a later date
  17. That's the thing - both rear and front sets of the EBC's come to £84 or £100 :( Best price I've found (and trust, I've been searching lol) for the DS performance pads both front and rear is £125 delivered. Doesn't sound like much more but as mentioned, Im on a tight budget!!
  18. Im not entirely sure which to go for here (I know there are better brands about, but have a budget! ) I'm not THAT much of a fast driver, but do occasionally like putting my foot down! The redstuffs are supposedly for more fast road/track use and the green's for 'street'. Do u think Id benefit from the reds, or not as I won't get them warm enough? Price isn't too much of a factor between the 2 as both front and rear sets of green are £84 delivered and reds are £100. Has anyone recent experience of supposed EBC's new improvements to these pads?
  19. Where did u guys get the DS performance pads from?
  20. Like I said mate - get onto GSF - the staff are well aware that the stuff they sell is rubbish and seem to be used to replacing stuff for free and giving away other parts as a form of compensation. To be fair I've had no end of free disks / pads / bearings / starter motors etc out of them becuase of stuff failing or not fitting properly. If you go there on a Saturday there are more people taking stuff back that actually buying bits   Just gave the local branch a call, the guy did seem to understand instantly when I mentioned wheel bearings being faulty, but he also said that I need proof of purchase to gain anything back (which he said would be, another 2 bearings  ) so I said why would I want another 2 bearings that're gonna go on me! I said what about the time consumed from me having to take the old ones out/put new ones in and he said there's nothing he could do :( There's absolutely no way I would've kept the receipt for 2 bearings and I paid in cash Oh well, I've budgeted for these new discs so it's not as though I've gotta pay more now than I originally thought :)
  21. I got me some JBL 6x4's in replacement of the originals a few months back... My opinion: waste of money. I ended up buying a used parcel shelf with holes cut in, bought some semi-decent 6x9's (on a budget) and so much better. I mean obviously, there shouldn't be any comparison between 6x4's and 6x9's, but as the 6x4's were still in the shelf supports I kept one wired in and faded it to the rear and then from the far left (6x4) to the far right (6x9) for comparison and I was in stitches! If ur after any kind of bass from them, I wouldn't bother
  22. Yup - VTECH! Never again! (apart from this little fix until next month) Unfortunately money's a little tight atm being unemployed! :( No expensive fixes for me :)
  23. Thanks man :salute: Yeh, I've got a shedload of genuine parts a'comin'
