Hi jon what flavour rado? if VR then no the fans should only kick in on after run when the temps are higher. there are 3 temp sensors which drive the 3 stages of fans & one of those is likely to control the after run for fans as for the dash temp reading it is likely you have an older type thermostat which gives a more accurate reading than the new ones, which are engineered to sit around 90 unless there is an issue have you tested you fan stages & dash temp reading whilst running, IE turn it on & let it warm up until the fans kick in? if so what happens? if you cooling system is working ok you should find that the bottom rad hose gets hot, dash temp hits around 70 ish & the thermostat opens which then lets the top rad hose get warm. dash temp should get to about 95 ish & then the fans stage 1 kick in

been ill all week so not much doing really i did get the valver back last saturday - turned out to be an old rogue immobiliser had shorted under the dash where it was spliced into the loom feed for the fuel pumps. apparently it was not the best wiring job lol hence why i couldnt hear the fuel pumps - i use the plural as interestingly the valver has 2, a low pressure in the tank & then a high pressure underneath the low pressure pump was looking worse for wear too with furry contacts etc so that was all cleaned & tested as ok thus collected it last saturday & it definitely felt to be running a bit smoother with the new ignition leads - which it should really as one lead was broken & then i saw some splits in the outer casing so they were likely tracking in the damp only did a couple of short journeys as was low on fuel come monday morning & it decided to misbehave again! this time it would turn over for a second & then a clunk & all went dead :( WTF!? this repeated a couple of times & had me head scratching. cue phone calls to work & to mechanic & then to dad in case i needed another tow. then made a mental list of what to check, fuses, leads etc im not sure why but i then had the thought about the Sigma cat1 i had installed when i first owned the car. ever since buying it back i have not had to use the Sigma key fob. i stopped using it to lock/unlock the doors within a couple of days of picking it up as the siren would freak out occasionally but i did wonder why i didnt need to disable the immobiliser thus with nothing to loose i thought id give disarming the immobiliser a try before i started to pull the dash out etc well wouldnt you know it fired 1st time!! i have no explanation for it but for some reason after over 2 years of having her back the Sigma has now jumped back to life. all i can think is that the wiring for the rogue old unit was somehow overriding the Sigma hey ho a £ less fix - thank fook lol this had now made me think about if i could contact Sigma & get the manual code for the keypad thingy, in case the fob stops working as for the VR - i am going to call my mechanic today to see if the HiSpec's have arrived yet

hi dragon would you mind divulging what the product name & manufacturer pls? i have used silicon lube in past years but it wasnt too great & leaves a residue thanks
-
fortunately, apart from MOT, it is their 1st visit each to the mechanic this year as such hopefully still cheaper than running a newer car
-
ha ha ha i probably would if it could but supercharger rebuild costs would kill me off completely ;)
-
had another look at the valver on saturday i found 2 fuses blown. the 2nd 20amp in from the left & then the end right 10amp replaced with new & fired her up - no change, still just turning over checked fuel pump relay & could feel it clicking ok on ignition key - still no noise from underside though thus towed to mechanics - who now has both my rado's :(
-
