I've got a few good ones too if someone can host them.

help - blue smoke then shredded altenator belt on vr6
corradovr6sc replied to dgrt's topic in Engine Bay
could be a failure of the tensioner/seizure of the tensioner pulley bearing. -
vw anthracite LC 7V? sort of a grey-blue metallic.
-
think the vr6 would edge it. When mine was standard, it would keep up with a c36 (286 hp) no problem so a clk 320 shouldn't be too much trouble.
-
When I put mine on I thought it sounded a bit mad, almost embarassing, but after a while it quietened down (must trap particles which reduced the noise). I think a cai might be quieter as the filter isn't in the engine bay.

A local place which mixes paint for me has colour cards and there are always 5 or 6 different shades of the same colour. If you could find the paint supplier for your local bodyshops they would probably be able to sort you out.

Cam sensors are about £38 from VW. I'm not sure if they can be cleaned and have never heard of anyone trying to clean one. You could try that but it's probably best to get a new one and be done with it.
-
I think standard hoses are fine and some people have found the samcos to be a poor fit. If they can last over 100k they can't be bad. I think it's the 2 oil cooler coolant hoses don't come with the samco kit which would cost about £15 from VW.
-
the cam sensor fault could be intermittant. Have you experienced any loss of power/hesitancy?
-
I've got the magnex de-cat pipe. Cost about £90. Not sure on power gains (corrados already have a high-flow cat so probably not much gain) unless you want to preserve your cat as they are expensive and I think only VW supply them.

There's one here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW It's a halfords socket for a 1/2" driver.
-
you need quite a large socket to get in off, can't remember what size though, something like 26. The filter clips onto the plastic part of the housing.
-
I've tried water wetter and it does seem to work. There's a vgi on ebay at the moment. The link is in the ebay and misc. section.

a new aux pump should make a fairly quiet whine. Try listening for it with the ignition on but engine off. I think 110 is a bit high. Around town mine reaches 100 but never goes as far as 110. Bypassing the matrix shouldn't make any difference but have you made sure there are no airlocks?
-
noticed the charger has a ribbed drive belt. Is it a zr 1 or zr 2 charger?
-
have you tried: http://www.grommets.co.uk ? (I haven't made it up)
-
Now that is nice :) Very understated looks and massive power. Ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing. Should be able to waste a few 'vettes with that beast

274 cams (standard?) No wonder it doesn't idle smoothly :?
-
and vr6 rear axle, driveshafts, wishbones, hubs, steering rack, wheels....
-
it's a small copper mesh filter to trap oil and prevent it from leaving the crankcase.

The vgi's were part of a group buy organised by the golf vr6 forum and cost £1070 all in. Stripping it down is easy. It's in three pieces (about 10 bolts to remove) and is an easy diy install. You can use iridium plugs which have a long service life. As for the extra grunt, look at some dynos and judge for yourself but I think most people would agree that it makes a big difference and makes the car much nicer to drive, especially combined with a throttle body, cams and rechip.
-
I don't think the brake pedal sensor activates the abs light but a faulty wheel sensor would. If it's intermittent though, the sensor might need cleaning, as it's magnetic and attracts a lot of dirt.

H@R's There's a set here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW

Think you can use a wheel bolt to undo the fill plug.
