I'm running ww and definitely noticed a drop in water and oil temperature.
-
think you need special tool for the front bearing.
-
Yes, worn seals means more oil useage. I'd get everything done including the head gasket if it's original. In for a penny, in for a pound! Someone like Stealth charge £1200 for this work unless you fancy having a go yourself!

Is it worth pulling 1 and 6 to check for oily plugs?
-
Mine used to smoke a bit going downhill and that was with a new head and immaculate bores. It's something to do with the crankcase breathing oil vapour through the inlet manifold when the engine isn't under load, always on the downslope. But if it's using oil..... Best to get a compression test to confirm. You could get a second-hand 2.9 engine or s/h 2.8 block and overbore it to 2.9 and reuse your pistons. Try negotiating with the stealers first, maybe you could bet them to pay for the parts whilst you pay the labour if they won't honour the warranty.

have you checked out the buying guide?

synta gold is specified for the vr6 too.

thanks :)

Does anybody know what 8.5 j or 10 j means in terms of wheel size? Is it something to do with the rim? Cheers

It's in 3 pieces: 021121117A

Parts for supercharging: blower, brackets, pullies, longer alternator belt, hoses/clamps, chip, air filter, t-piece and bov (optional). It would probably cost more to fit an eaton than a centrifugal charger. Its a bit of a nightmare fitting an eaton onto a vr6 :

It's a shame as there are lots of nice bmw wheels out there which would really suit the corrado. If only they'd fit..........
-
Does anybody know if 5-stud BMW alloys will fit the vr6? Cheers

I wouldn't just guess, could get expensive . It could be a number of things. My car had all the symptoms of coilpack failure but it turned out to be the maf so you really need vag-com to give a definitive answer.

What degree is the standard 2.9 vr6 cam? Also I heard that 2.8 are different from 2.9 cams, and when I looked at them the 2.9 cams seemed to have a longer profile :?:

Is blow-back through the dipstick a sign of bore wear?
-
Under the bonnet, 2 cables and a metal counter weight on top of the gearbox can be adjusted which may improve the change but you can't really change the feel of the shift, it will still feel long and perhaps not as precise as some other cars.
-
I thnk that's how they are or possibly the selector needs adjusting.

If you run an intercooler with 6 psi, you lose boost and power. The chips are mapped to compensate for changing temperatures by retarding/advancing the timing etc.

Think this might be it: 021109507A (vwparts.com)

Think there is something similar wrong with my car, the backend skips over any small bumps in the road and it feels like there is a lack of damping at the rear and instability at speed. Braking hard from high speed, there's a load of banging from the rear brakes, like the calipers are not operating properly and handbrake is quite loose. Knackered calipers and rear axle bushes?
-
Just pull the leads out of the coilpack.
-
A hex-key (allen key) fits it too.
-
36 front, 32 rear.

I was told vibratechnics didn't make a rear engine mount so I've got the vt front and gearbox mounts and standard (original) rear mount. I was going to buy an insert from turn2 but might get the vt now I know it's available. Is the vt rear mount complete or just the rubber insert? How much did it cost?
