Cheers, passed on the info about the water guide plate (message on answer machine) but will also ring tomorrow. Gav - Whole roof slides backwards and forwards, just on closing it lifts slightly, so its not 'out of sync'.

Hi folks, My car is in the body shop at the mo and before it went in I managed to get the sunroof to slide by removing the passenger side 'rocker arm'. It slides back fine but when you slide it closed again the passenger side flicks up and catches on the strengthening ribs making lovely scratch marks. The body shop has replaced the 'rocker arm' (well ok replaced the whole sunrrof assembly) with another but still has the same problem - it catches on the passenger side but only when sliding closed - it lifts. Any ideas how to fix this? Or is it tilt only for ever? Checked the rest of the forum but nothing really mentions the problem like this i.e. the lifting Waterguide plate? if so what is that?

If you're replacing the rear shocks as well as the bump stops don't forget the 'strut top mountings'. On the rears they are an upper and lower rubber and cost around a tenner from GSF Then you have a whole new rear suspension. Or alternatively get the lowering kit from GSF, shock and springs front and rear. Then just buy all new bumpstops and strut top mountings for a complete new suspension. Not sure on the price of the lowering kit but compare it with the koni kit from Larkspeed and then take your pick depending on budget. I got the lowering kit, all the mountings/bumpstops, rear axle bushes, rear brake bias valve for just over 300 at GTI International from the GSF stand. And that included postage as they didn't have the kit there!!

I use Brentacre and would seriously recommend them. Friendly, helpful and very competitively priced. Its run family style rather than corporate style which is a refreshing change. Any mods upto a certain BHP and Guaranteed No claims discount for £500. Chip and pulley was an extra £120 IIRC

bought my old man the 'Italian Job' experience for his 60th! Gets to drive a mini cooper s, e type jag and a bus! I got it from http://www.buyagift.co.uk . Incidentally use this number if anyone wants a fiver discount. Discount code = 224422 The letter did say to pass it on to as many people as you wish!!

Yeah, I've had the same problem. Just bought a diesel for the works run but I cannot use my no claims bonus as its used on another car. I tried swinton and they did a really good deal for me as an 'Introductory offer'. It was only about £20 dearer than what I'd got quoted with full no claims. You're also better off ringing the brokers than doing it online as you've got more chance of haggling etc. Incidentally does anyone know what happens if you should have an accident now? Is that the no claims buggered for both - if they're not protected?

Burgundy metallic N reg, a VR6 I think parked outside a pub in Ancaster. Seen it parked there a couple of times now

All radio signals come in on the aerial - if its connected. It's more than likely that your aerial is knackered. Quick test is to connect up a metal coat hanger to the aerial socket - if you get reception you'll need a new one. If it is bust blaupunkt do a direct replacement so you don't have to take out the whole of the old cable and replace it. http://www.my-blaupunkt.com/acatalog/ww ... ls_20.html its the gti flex 270.

folks, I've got a spare set of grey seats and door cards. If I get these recovered in leather does the whole of the door card get recovered? Or only part of it? It's just I want to get them recovered in black leather and if the whole door card is not recovered then I might as well get shot of them cheers

Hi folks, at long last I've got the money together to sort out my bodywork. Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in or around Lincoln. I know of VolksKraft and got a quote from them but are there any others? Is VolksKraft good? cheers

RAC for me. Personal membership so it covers my motorbike plus anyone elses car I'm in too. Save having motorbike breakdown and car breakdown cover. Otherwise try Britannia or Green Flag. Never keen on the AA relay service. Been told many stories of how it took them several 'relays' before it got the car home

Cheers for that guys. I suppose I better get my whole months wages to pay for it. Might as well get the Lupo wipers at the same time.

Hi folks, My G60 has sprung a water leak from the plastic connector on the side of the block. It's the one that goes off to the heater matrix. Using this page its item 3 http://www.elcats.ru/audivw/vag5.asp?su ... -00&cid=76. Which is the correct one for the G60 engine (Cannot remember what the engine code is)? Where is the best place to get a new one from? Is it VAG only? Already changed the o ring seal this afternoon and its still bloody leaking

Hi folks, here's a photo of my car with 15" superleggeras before I lowered it. I got them from Halfords as they had a 20% off special offer. Under £500

I had an original VAG one back in '91. They weren't that good. I used it for windsurfing and wished I'd spent the money on a Thule one instead. As for looks, when you've got stuff on the rack who cares what it looks like as long as it's fit for purpose. It comes off as soon as you've finished the job in question!

I went JCC too Left in 94 iirc

The one in Hinckley (my hometown) is actually in Burbage. Don't know what they are like though but IIRC they are (or were) more of an aircooled specialist. What about C&R - in Nottingham?

Hi folks, is there a definitive list of part numbers for the sunroof repair? I've got the classic tilt but no slide. As I'm hoping to get it sprayed in the near future I want to get sorted. I've checked most of the relevant threads and so far have these numbers 1H0 898 014A 1H0 898 019 1H0 898 015A 1H0 898 020. Not sure what they are all for though. cheers

I found this on the ebay a while back and they are still being sold. Would they be any good for what you want? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 90071&rd=1. Here is the latest link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 7909108230

IIRC there are built in amps behinds the speakers in the doors. Fairly basic looking on a circuit card. When I tried to get my Pioneer fitted in my 1st Corrado VAG said they couldn't do it. They were fitting blaupunkt gamma radios as standard to control/run the system. In fact they were so helpful I ended up going to a local ICE specialist and getting them to fit it. I found out afterwards that it only needed two speaker connections not four as I first thought The rest of the system has active amps/crossovers I think.
