Could be,unlikley....more like the V belt wearing...whats your point? :? To reiterate VR6-nos comment- unlikely to be anything wrong with the pulley itself
-
Just read your profile....2.0 16v.. There should be a 'tensioner' which you can 'ratchet' out (not sure if thats the right word but best I can think of) to take up any slack in the alt belt.....two spanners (or spanner and appropriate socket) should be all you need (assuming its like the 8v) If the belt is damaged at all, then replace it, but otherwise it should be ok.. you'll know if it goes as the battery warning light should come on- stop IMMEDIATELY as I think this belt also drives either the water or oil pump (don't remember which)
-
on the golf (Mk2 8v GTI(.. it was caused by the alternator belt becoming slack and slipping against the alternator pulley, so you retighten the belt, and it stops slipping.. What engine have you got?
-
Mines a 93 VR with the deep spoiler..I think the changeover from deep to non-deep was slightly random- plus someone may have retro fitted the deeper spoiler as it looks better (IMO of course :D ) The standard car didn't (to my knowledge) come with remote locking- however most aftermarket alarms etc will have this- the full closure locking (ie central locking inc auto window and sunrood close) is designed to be driven off an alarm so if you have a remote alarm fitted the car will autolock off it.. ...of course your central locking needs to be working for this to be the case :D Enjoy the ride.. 8)

In case you haven't made up your mind yet.... Engine.... In the weather have at the moment (salt on roads etc) I would clean up and touch up any exposed metal/rust as well to stop it deteriorating, until you have time to do it properly (or shift the car)..

Welcome to 'rado ownership ! :)
-
Had the same on my golf..got a screech at low revs (especially if it was damp and/or the headlights were on.. Solution- tighten up the alternator belt...they get slack over time

I use these chaps.. http://www.harringtonadams.com/ - very helpful and professional and if you are in their area (central London) you can go and see them in person which makes a v. refreshing change for a myriad of call centres etc.. They're brokers but got my around £450 for the VR. I managed to get one slightly cheaper quote than the one I went for with the above, but that had rather restrictive covenants around how much money you get back if you cancel mid-term (eg if sell/swap the car at some point)- ie not the usual pro-rata job.. Summary of stats for comparison purposes (As someone said there are so many factors that can affect quote) '93 VR6 import (left hand drive) Modified brakes kept garaged in Guildford Me:- 31, IAM, 3 pts (speeding), 9 yrs NCB, no claims

I put my lights on full beam, and it got darker...

Not quite the same, but I had the headlight switch 'fail' on me a month back- rather worrying heading down the unlit part of the M1 at night with just sidelights- solution was a bit of WD40 in the switch unit which restored it to working again.. Just a suggestion before you start ripping bits of loom out etc- you never know, you may be lucky its just something 'trivial'.. Good luck, Al. -
"Crap Corrados R Us" part II -Now with new improved Crapness
HiAsAKite replied to diamondblack's topic in General Car Chat
I remember seing the Corrado dragster at santa pod a few years back- I think you manged 9. something- awesome car.. - especially the way you'd had to move th driver position back to fit the engine in! -
I also run a mk2 8v GTI- had the golf for 7 years now- couldn't bear to get rid of it when I got my C- 4 years later I've still got both and use th golf as a daily driver/runaround/winter car. re: insurance- I got admiral to mirror my NCB on the corrado, and later (2 years) switched the C to another insurance co- I now have 9 years NCB with two separate insurers now...

KUTR:- Out of interest if you had an S2 what made you get rid of it and get the rado?
-
Yup- have a garage :-) - only trouble is my rado lives in there and it would mean parting with her, or parking her outside and losing the golf.... if I didn't have the rado I would buy one tomorrow- trouble is I'm rather attached to it....and it s a'good'un'....(even if LHD).... Have pm'd you...

Looks gorgeous mate... -
Apologies if this has already been posted but just got this over from Pistonheads..apparantly someone has already done over the Fiesta, Escort and Opel Manta forum.... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... &f=141&h=0 ---------------------------------- A scammer is using car forums to sell 'a garage full of parts'... his reason for selling is that his wife/girlfriend wants rid of all the parts and he needs the money to finish his Land Rover. The parts for sale are sought after and all listed cheaply with delivery included... payment is by PayPal only. He has appeared on various forums of late and recently did an Escort forum out of at least £1000! His IP address traces back to an NTL IP in the Northampton area and Northampton Police have already opened a case file on him. He lists his addresses as: 31 west walk corby old village corby northants and his inlaws live at 1 west view corby old village corby northants nn17 1as Although these addresses are false. His PayPal account was under the address: mailto:[email protected] Using the names Mark Dines and Martin (or Martyn) Dines. PLEASE BE VERY WARY OF NEW MEMBERS OFFERING PARTS AT TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE PRICES! If you aren't sure about a member selling parts, please contact the forum mods. Thank for reading this and be careful out there. If you know any other forums that could benefit from this info, please pass it on. ---------------------------------- Link to escort forum - http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums ... =6&t=74748

Cool!- 8bar gauge? How odd...didn't know you could get those..
-
8-9 bar at 3-4K rpm- To reiterate the above, cold- yes you cold easily see that, warm- no- mine probably sits between 4 and 5 at those rpm warmed up. Hopefully its your pressure sender playing up ;)
-
Warmed up or not? At idle I see 4 bar when cold, within a few minutes its down to 2 bar and when fully warmed up it will sit between 0.5 and 1 bar at idle. doing steady 70-90 in 5th (circa 3K+ rpm) when fully warmed up will also see around 4 bar oil pressure generally try and always keep oil press below 6bar until its warmed up... can't recall what the pressure was at 5-6K rpm though..sorry

When mine went I ended up with 90 degree engine coolant on my legs..... oh and not being able to see where I was going thanks to the steam.... if happens...turn the engine off right away so it doesn't run without coolant... then ASAP get al the carpets out and dry them thoroughly, and try and use a hairdryeer or something to dry out all the nooks and crannies.... rinsing them may help as coolant can contains glycerol (I think?) which is hydroscopic...ie it absorbs moisture from the air- so if you don't get it out they will be forever damp... Once you've done that you can bypass te matrix, fill the system up and the car should be perfectly driveable (albeit with no heater!) ...unless the coolant also soaked your immobilser as happened to me.. And yeah...changing its a real PITA.. I wimped out and payed the Phirm to do it when they did my timing chains... (v. good job they did too...thanks Tim :) )

Just seen your post on pistonheads... hope you get them back and however pikeyed them has a few 'words' given to them...
