How many forum members plan on NEVER selling their Corrado?
HiAsAKite replied to godskitchen's topic in General Car Chat
Had mine 3 years- I can see it going when I get the funds to fund something more exotic (911, TVR........).... But,...just had timing chains replaced, and it ran sweet all the way up to the lakes, Scotland and back............ -
Its worth doing just for the exam- which is an hour drive with a police class 1 examiner... The observed runs very much depend on which observers you get...

Try navigating their website to find a car like the one you're trying to sell..remember when I was selling my mk2 gti, I wasn't even able to specify gti as a search term on their webiste and had al manner of sh!te appearing.. of course- it may have changed now- but I doubt it.. run a mile from these people.. if they keep phoning tell em where to go..

Scarlett, I've just come back from a 4x4 trek of the Sahara, 95% of the 4x4's we saw out there were either Toyota lancruisers or Nisssan Patrols...i think there's a message in there somewhere about reliability and running costs..(you REALLY don't want to get stranded in the middle of the sahara...) Stone chip from hell- new windscreen required for the golf
HiAsAKite replied to HiAsAKite's topic in General Car Chat
Have yet to call insurance co, but my excess is £50, or I can get Autoglass to do me a new one for £136. Will check the fine print of my pilocy to ensure it doesn't count as claim before ringing insurance co up -

Cheers folks! May have a look round breakers yards and call my insurance co -
Driving back along the M4 today in my Golf, heard a VERY load crack (during which I ducked my head below the dashboard- I actually felt the noise on my eardrums)...looked up again and 1/3 of my windscreen had turned into a stone chip... Quick- question- I have windscreen cover on on my insurance (and it will need a new windscreen- no repairing this one) however:- Does anyone know how much a mk2 GTI windscreen costs? Is there any risk the insurance co may try to write off the car? (car is only worth a couple of hundred quid) Will it count as a claim for future insurance premiums? Ta- pics of the damage below:-

I am the only one who thinks the Corrado looks stupid.......
HiAsAKite replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
I like the spoiler...but then mine pops up at 73 mph by which point its may just start to have some effect. I agree the car looks cleaner with it down however. In terms of effect...it does not 'add downforce'...(as a wing would do), but 'spoils' the lift created from the shape of body (particulalry back) of the car which would otherwise create lift acting on the rear of the car and result in a light rear end. In terms of drag I'm sure it does in increase CD, however given the toss up between going round corners and going that little bit faster in a straight line...handling has far more impact in the real world ,.... I do agree its ironic that the only people I've ever come across who don't like it- happen to be corrado owners... Anyway- each to their own- enjoy the ride -

So has any one ever dumped a Cossie lump in a Rado??
HiAsAKite replied to PoorMansPorsche's topic in General Car Chat
aha...learn a new thing everyday :-) -
Problem with doing that is that the G40 is far more in keeping with the original sprites design ethos- light, nimble car with small but tuned engine.... and the G40 (being 30 or so years more up-to-date) would have completely caned it..... .....whereas I suspect they picked the pug show car precisely because they thought the sprite would win..

I believe the TVR engined golf was slightly different- someone purchased a insurance write off/never drive again TVR, and needed to another, not written off, car for it to 'masquerade' as... so they took a golf shell and made it fit over what was left of the TVR, and of course registered it as a modified golf (since the DVLA would not accept the TVR being registered since it was written off..).. -
I thought the sprite versus pug was a bit one sided (though the pug really doesn't float my boat at all)- the sprite was a hill-climb car, whereas the pug was a show car- far better test would have been to put the sprite up against a maxed skyline or impreza.... ~(like the skyline they showed for about 5 seconds)...

Just seen Dave's VR- its sweet!
