  1. Yes, as above - door card needs to come off. There is also a screw holding the card to the front of the door, inside the plastic speaker housing, so you will need to carefully prise the speaker grille off - this just lifts out. The speaker itself is held in from behind by 4 x 7/8mm nuts that sit on four plastic studs, with a rubber washer in between. A deep socket or hollow ratchet is useful here.
  2. Even gives you a receipt for the ££££s you will have to spend to fix the faults. Neat. Cool and retro, but I kind of prefer VCDS as it's much easier to use.
  3. They were selling ABS pump units for over €1000 there a while back.... Must be trying to discourage potential buyers and keep stuff for the cars in the museum!
  4. Pretty rare I'd say - nice for completeness if you have a car with Diavia A/C fitted.
  5. Cool - let us know if it works for you. It's a nice little mod and great for letting drivers know if they have full beam on behind you at night!
  6. I've done it on my VR6 - it was a common mod on a lot of German cars of that era. I think, but would have to check, that there is no reflector in the blanked off side, but once you have bulbs in both you wouldn't notice much if any difference from the rear when they are on, and there is no change to wiring required. Should work no problem.
  7. Very 70s - they are nice, I had one on my Audi Coupe Quattro from 1987, and it was great on sunny days and didn't look out of place. Not sure if they are just clear with a tint strip though - I would want the windscrenn glass to match that in the rest of the car. I have a Passat centre sunvisor mounted on the sunroof control trim for those really bright sunny days anyway.
  8. ETKA only lists 535845011B (possibly clear) and 535845011C (green tint) for the windscreen glass - no mention of a sun visor stripe. I think it was an after-market option, the factory glass was made by Sekurit for VW.
  9. As far as I know all Corrado glass was lightly tinted all round, including the windscreen. There may have been an option for a darker tinted stripe at the top of the windscreen, but I have never seen it, and also have never come across a Corrado with clear glass. Others might have more information.....
  10. Cheers again - hopefully I'll be able to return the favour at some stage!
  11. Tonedef - arrived this morning all safe and sound and excellently wrapped. Went on like a treat, and the nozzle now points in the right direction. Many thanks for your generosity again! As a side note, these look the same, but are different lenghts and nozzle positions for different cars, as the jet needs to clip into the feed tube when it's in a certain position to hold it in place. Not sure if other models like the Golf etc. would work without trying them. The Mk3 one certainly did not.
  12. That's the one - they should stay in the tunnel part when you lift off the trim - feels a bit like it's gonna break, but pops off with a click. I think VW Classics had them a while back.
  13. Good idea - I have several sheets of A4 sticky backed felt that I use for this kind of stuff. Worth checking - there should be two metal clips that hold the trim cover to the tunnel section. are both of those there - with one missing you would get a fair bit of movement...
  14. Ha ha - I'm always doing that! I have a big tub of screws here on my desk and no idea where they go....will really need to start labelling everything if it'sw going to be months or years before it goes back together again....
  15. Hard to see from only one angle - could it be part of the handle/lock mechanism?
  16. Hmm, I would say avoid handling money and being responsible for transactions at all costs! I don't think anyone would want to go down that route. I'd say moderate every ad, if a seller is a business they need to register and pay a percentage, and think of it as a managed small ads service - but disputes. pay,ent etc. fall outside the remit of the forum and are up to the parties involved to sort out. Otherwise it becomes a legal minefield. You can always do a bad/good seller and buyer thread or rep system - but even that goes into defamation territory if not careful. Still think the newspaper small ads or donedeal/adverts model is the best, and as Keyo has said - you have Paypal protection and the small claims court if needed. But seriously, you need to consider that any sellers of rare parts will be posting them up for where they think they will get the most money, not to do some enthusiasts a favour - at least that's my experience, you might call me a tad cynical 😉
  17. All windows are the same, regardless of electric, manual or year. On a window that has never been out there will also be a sliding bracket that is attached to the rear vertical rail inside the door - this is to act as a guide for the window as it is curved. This will be bonded on to the glass, and is often forgotten when a replacement window is fitted,, and will cause a nasty rattle when left loose at the bottom of the rail. Not sure why you are so fixated on the getting the right year/month of manufacture for the glass - they would have been made in batches and the guys at the Karmann works would jsut have pulled what they needed from stock without matching up the numbers to the date of the car.... There will also be plenty of cars that will have had them replaced due to break-ins etc, so would not be considered a major con. Now, if the reg and VIN were also etched into them, that might be different. In any case it will probably be easy enough to tell that someone has been at the door card and window, so I wouldn't sweat too much about it.
  18. In fairness there should be a bit of movement there - that’s kind of the purpose, and to dampen vibrations and noise. I wouldn’t like to drive a car with solid mounts. But it’s hard to judge how much is enough, especially in older cars. There are also a number of smaller bushings or mounts on the subframe I think - these might be worth checking.
  19. It's not a bad idea, but definitely needs to be moderated. You'd get more cars posted as well. I don't know how to prevent the first dibs to moderators though, which would be unfair (although you could see it as a reward for the pain of being a mod) - I wonder if any of the other forums had rules around that?
  20. Great video, Although I kept thinking it was Richard Branson slumming it......
  21. Yeah - the seats look great. Good luck getting the interior out and off site - those lads weren't trespassing, even though it's made to look like they were. Personally, I'd like to get hold of the Jensen Interceptor!
  22. Lol: Jurassic Park springs to mind.
  23. This one looks pretty original: http://racingbazar.com/vehicles/streetcar/ex_volkswagen_vento_vr6_challenge_cup_car_for_sale_1994 Gemini diff AP 4-pots 300mm Custom roll cage I did before see an itemised "list" of what was in the race spec and supplied by VWMS.....
  24. That was probably the idea for the racing cars! I think they came as part of a kit including Brembo 4-pots and bigger discs, ready to be fitted on to the car. I found a site with the Vento Cup specification kit-out, must see if I can find it again....
  25. I don't think there was a RHD version of the slanted panel - what some people did was to mount it upside down. I used to have one.- not sure now which one it was as it was so long ago! TBH the flat 3--dial DIN insert looks just as good - the gauges have a small lip around them to site in the panel and then there is U bracket to hold them from the back. The Audi gauge panels are slanted, and came in both LHD and RHD versions, but you would need to grind them down to fit properly.
