  1. Hear what youre saying from a coppers point of view, but they do seem to waste alot of time on trivial shite. Ive been pulled over for wearing a hat before, that was his honest reason for why! Then when your house gets burgled they dont bother to turn up. If youre driving like you stole it, fair game though.
  2. I nearly sold mine as the most common thing anyone says to me about the motor is "your the lad with the scirocco aren't you" Gave up trying to explain to people its not, just cant understand how its such a recognisable car that they know its me when i have no idea who they are but they still cant read a fooking badge.
  3. Dont think they do alot in alloy for large applications due to the softness of the metal. You can try and ring my old place phil holden fastners in leicester, speak to ross he knows pretty much everything about anything.

  5. what carbon is that then? any info?
  6. its unusual for a relay to go, or just soley to be used for the horn. Im in turkey so cant help much at the mo. I assume you have checked the fuse itself. Try the wiring into the fuse board. And there is a connection near the battery which looks the same as the one to the fog lights. You should have 12v all the time on the live wire. If you use the search, an old thread of mine should come up i think. Mine turned out to be a fault in the wiring after the connection near the battery.
  7. new key, isnt a great problem, you can get one made by a locksmith, could be costly though. Alternativly you can buy an ignition barrel and key from someone breaking a rado and retumble the rest of the locks. If you have the make and model of your alarm and immob a bit of google searching should tell you if it has the learn/reprogramme feature. Worst case is to remove it and its simple to do. Corrado is sadly pretty easy to break into, so its not the end of the world chap. Still what a bunch of twats, feel for you.

    Wobble Bolts

4x98 should fit on anyway. They are vauxhall fitment. Bit tight but they go. First mk2 i had came with them on. Wobble bolts are ok but not the safest solution, i used them on the same mk2 to fit 4x108 audi wheels. Didnt keep them on for long though so cant add any further to the previous comment of 3 years.
  9. what extras are with the engine? Or is it just the block itself? Heater matrix damage is possible, but i would have thought it would be ok given that the engine took the brunt of it. Worth changing water pump while you have access to the new lump.
  10. castrol magnatec 10w40 is spot on for a g60.
  11. i put copper grease on my carrier bolts rather than loctite. for how often they come off it makes sense to me.
  12. quite probable its the output in the headunit, got a spare or nick your other halfs to eliminate?
  13. agreed, we have several designs of speed bumps round my way, i cant drive any route from my house to the main road without running into them. seems there is no set rules on the height of them either, as some i can get over and others i just have to accept that it will scrape like a bitch :gag: hate the way people look at you too when you slow down to go over a speed bump. about time they standardised them to a sensible height and design.
  14. £412 is a piss take. tell them where to stick it. ball joint is the hardest job out of the lot but still not difficult. try veedubmachine for a new one. need to have a look what adjustment you have in your handbrake cable. a tweek of that should get you through the mot. cheapest for pads ive found seems to be rapidcarparts. wheel bearing is simple and about £8 off egay for the complete kit. tierod69 i think is the bloke, he does top mount kits for a good price too. i think youll be looking at under £100 for parts and a couple of hours on the drive. hope that helps.
  15. Pm me your address and ill post you some. Not original vag stuff, but when you find out how much it costs youll understand why.
  16. well the best ive found is https://www.rapidcarparts.co.uk fair bit cheaper than camskill etc so ive asked for the price beater thing. will let you know how i get on. cheers for the replies.
  17. The odds are it barely does anything at all anymore. Took mine off a long time ago. Emissions on the mot for pre 92 are allowed to be high anyway so doesnt matter in that sense. I just chopped the lines and blanked with bolts.
  18. Lol yeah i do drive fairly hard. The reasoning to ebc is that my ferodo's have worn out on the rear and the pads that came on my 288's kick out so much dust. Cant seem to find them on camskill, maybe im just being retarded. Will have a proper search tonight.
  19. anyone know somewhere with good prices on them? need late vr6 for the front and 16v for the back. cheers.
  20. it all depends on the size as to how it performs really, followed by the flow of air to it, so your looking for something roughly grill sized. in my mind this is pretty much perfect in terms of size and ease of fitting; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Medium-FMIC-twinpass-Same-side-63mm-inlets-230mm-high-/220651383360?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item335fd8ea40 sprinter intercoolers are a bitch to fit and too big in my opinion for the g to make use of. bigger rad will help with water cooling for sure, i had a vr6 one on the golf g60, but there was some debate over whether it would fit an early rado a while ago on here. it has the holes ready to fit one so id assume it would go but cant be certain. but bigger rad restricts where you can run boost pipes to the fmic, its all a bit of a nightmare to plan out without having the front end off and all the bits to hand to see where they can be squeezed in. bigger rad also means planning where to put the oil cooler, common place it where the old intercooler sits, but would be better if its in the front. be prepared for a couple of hours of swearing when you come round to fitting it.
  21. You do need an rsr to run the u bend. G60 intercoolers are good, but normally overpriced and most probably need work doing to tidy them up. Easiest to do is fit a twin pass, inlet and outlet on the same side. Just plumb it in on the battery side. About 90 on ebay normally. 63mm is as big as you need to go. I bought a universal alloy kit to do mine for 90. Spend the pennies you save on an oil cooler.
  22. Love the 850, only seen two on the road and the second time i followed him til he parked up so i could have a better look round it. Really nice bloke who had it. I guess at £1900
  23. I owned one and loved every moment of it. Not the fastest car in the world, but so smooth to drive, handling was dab on. And, as i imagine we all would do if we could, spent hours with a big smile on my face with the back end sideways. Worst choice that was ever made for me was selling it. God i hate women! Def will be going jap again. I say take one out for a test rag and see how you like it. As said though good nick and non barry boy'd are few and far between.
  24. Could be gearbox, did they check the oil level at the garage?
  25. Standing in traffic mine will go up to 108 ish, ragging the tits off it about 120ish. The golf use to go up to 130 which wasnt good, heater matrix gave up when the engine turned off. Should hopefully be steady around 100 normally though. Oil cooler is the way forward on a g.
