i once tried putting these cathode's under an mdf parcel shelf, you'll have to be careful that the little board containing the transformer doesnt touch anything conductive...or you'll short it. Also..i'm not even sure how it happened...but i wired these to the boot light wires just positive and negative, they don't consume much energy and i think the current consumption is quite low...so wires shouldn't get hot. Its upto you mate if ya wanna run new wires from battery to it, bearing in mind you may have to fuse it and build a switch in too. Just be careful you get the wires the right way round..cos i think thats what blew mine up...the 'capacitor' thingy built up with energy and made a bang! shit me up big time mate...i took em back to maplins and got me some good old fashioned neons. Good luck.. Sanjay no.2. :D

am i thinking the same...it is the cover that covers the top of the engine area...at the bottom of the windscreen?? Did the scirocco have it? i'll have to check. I was told golf mk2's had the cover...but no leaves can get into the c's engine cos of the rubber strip on the top of the bonnet. hmm...can you cut your own one out of a sheet of plastic? maybe somewhere like wickes will have it...or could do it out of perspex and spray it black. Anyone got a pic??

my corrado has apex springs 35mm...and Boge gas shocks all round. Its a pretty ok ride..a bit stiff but what do you expect with a very meaty car. I didn't buy em..they were put on the car january this year by the previous owner. I'm running 17"'s too...and it would probably be why its a bit harsh. Worth it though!

i think the cast iron ones have to be brass rod welded...any other welds don't hold long enough i've been told. I had a crack in my mk4 polo manifold, it cost £50 for one delivered 2nd hand.

Thanks again guys. -

I CAN'T BELIEVE I CAN'T DRIVE MY CORRADO!
dubbprince replied to dubbprince's topic in General Car Chat
just got a qoute online with elephant.co.uk...they wanted around £2779 tpft! i've been told by all the companies to keep my excess to £250...and increasing it to max wouldn't make much of a change. Are they tryin to pull a fast one? also..directline, i don't think it'll make much of a difference from Club GTI's qoute (vw pro insurer). Anyone know any others?? Jim16v- cheers for that...its good to know i'm not the only one. Joe M- thanks..i think its the best i've had so far. is there anything else i can say or DO to make it go down?? -
are these things really worth having?? my normal around town is 40-50mph and on dual carriageway i normally like to hit bursts of 80-90mph...motorways i normally cruise at 80mph. what will the laser do? detect police speed guns?
-
 this is just the worst i swear. I rang up to get a few qoutes, well ready to book insurance on my corrado, which has been sat dorment for over 4 weeks! Its driving me crazy...i rang HIC about a month ago and the guy on the phone qouted me £850 tpft! at the age of 21. Then i rang them up today...still 20 but my birthday is on the 10th of november! only a week away and the car is: 1. garaged! 2. CAT 1 TOAD Ai606! 3. 1 yrs no claims with liscence held for 2 years, no claims, no disabilities etc... they give me a stupid qoute of £1670!!! TPFT! next i rang Adrian Flux...they said £1100 tpft at 20yrs old and £1089 at 21yrs old! best i've had so far is CLub GTI insurers (Brentacre)- £1011 at 20yrs old and £968 at 21yrs old... Someone please give me some positive advice! cos these qoutes are soo worse than they were a month ago when i phoned. As in drastic increases! I'm gagging to drive my corrado and with TPFT being well over £1100!! no way! Please help. Sanjay. :(

-

-
chris..i want some too mate...if you phone them up see if they give discount to 2x buys of it? worth a try...its free delivery too. so its worth it i think.
-
no mate..the spoiler switch doesn't light up along with the old joystick type mirror controller...electric also! thanks for ya input henny...that helped me figure it out.
-
i thought so...i tried putting the blue LED with resistor in place and foudn out i got it the wrong way round, so i thought i'd just put a red 12V one in..makes it easier. then it just wouldn't turn on the red LED unless i switched it to full beam..which i think is right. Anyway the solder must of come off cos it stoppped working after a few minutes. I opened it up again to find it had come off...so i tried re-soldering it again. I think i solderied it to closely to another metal connector..thus shorting it. So...HAS ANYONE GOT A SPARE HEADLAMP SWITCHER (EARLY TYPE) AND ALSO A SPARE FOG SWITCH! need these THIS WEEK! as car goes on road friday...please help! p.s. are the leccy window, spoiler switches menna come on with no dash lighting on?
-
is it the headlamp switch that i've broken?? or could it be that i've replaced bulbs with LED's? can't be...can it?
-
ok here goes: in the past week i've resoldered all electric window and sunroof switches with bright blue LED's with inline resistors, instead of the green 3mm LED's it should have already. Along with the above i also removed the bulb holders behind the dials 5 in total! and resoldered those red and blue with resistors too...same goes with the bulb behind the Fog, heated screen and heater section! Basically all dash lights are blue and the only thing that is red is the MFA readouts! i did have a go at the headlamp switcher, by also trying to place a blue led and resistor in. NOW...when i connect up the headlamp switcher, and turn ignition on with switch off...the dash lighting all comes on! so the clocks, heater section all light up when switcher is off! during daylight! WHAT COULD BE WRONG? :?
-
oh my god..that cant be right! your 17 and you have a G60?? and i'm nearly 21 and was told i needed a liscence for 3yrs before even trying to insure it. sorry to offload the topic.
