ok wishbone, linking rod for anti roll bar and all bolts/bushes have been replaced...all lookin very new! BUT...what is the reason behind the following: the wheels remain straight BUT the steering wheel is at a constant angle. i haven't had it fully looked at yet...i.e. tracking and camber are being done monday. Can i drive the car or is it safer not to?? Also...my drive shaft isn't bent, but it can't of come out of my engine could it? i mean easily? just need to make sure everything else is ok. cheers! Sanj.

wow...stirlingstorm...i love that colour!! sorry also for the rather harsh welcome. Its a very good job with the dash mate! i think you should use a Neutrik socket for the cigerette lighter...so when you need it u just connect it up..kinda like a household socket...but inside a car. The mp3 player looks great!! Your previous car was very nice indeed...keep up the good work mate. 8) Sanjay.

Cheers for showin us that lovely golf...saw it at inters, VERY NICE! I'll say hi to lee sometime then. Dalj- i'll give sns a call soon...and i'll do that homebase cloths ail trick too! cheers for that one mate, so when you comin down northants again?! i need to see your golf...after your new rims go on .

GSF don't sell thsi splitter apparently...got the parts thought that i needed. The K&N panel filter they do is £32-39...i get 10% off in there too! so we're talkin about £35 for a panel filter whereas Halfords wanted £44! The search goes on for the splitter...maybe i'll find out at a scrappy for less! Just wanted a nice new black one...cos mine was perfect till i hit the curb and now it has a crack..

the new version of the millenium is called the 'Evo' £179.89 from demon tweeks, momo NET is £169.20, normal millenium is £167...but can be bought for about £147. Isotta's range of wheels are a bit better style wise...like the Vellelunga wheel looks way more BLING! The Race wheel is more suited to the dash of the corrado...thats if it has no leather! If it does then a more posher steering wheel is in order..just my 2p's...chaa plonk.

cheers for all that james! Much appreicated, work begins 2morro and i've already sprayed WD40 on all bolts. Lets see how i get on.. :?

its cracked mate from impact with the curb 2 days ago...i just feel like a new one is in order. Its not as bad...well as Sukhs one! hsi is proper shagged. If theyre only about £30 then i'll get it...if its what i think it might be £120! then forget that for a laugh. found out the panel filter already in it is the MANN Hummel one GSF sell for £9. Who is G+S? you dont mean German+swedish do you mate? cos the one i use is in Daventry and i'll be off there 2morro to get my wishbone.

mate..you havin the number plate recess flushed on front bumper?? If so..let me know how yours turns out and how much they'd ask for me to do that. Mine has already had a bit of a re-spray, de-seemed too...but i need the rear badge re-doing as the prevous bodyshop has buggered it up and just filled it! not welded it and lead filled it. comin on nicely...keep the pics comin.

hey gary, welcome too... I didn't know aaron very well, met him once ages ago and he seemed a very nice bloke. Glad to see the car won't be wasted, good luck to you mate...i hope i keep seeing it! Might see ya son cruise up the welly road in it...whats his name? Bally the Ed38 site is worth checking out...i think its stephen sweetlands bro's car a Purpley blue golf mkII 16v, look under the bonnet of that! looks great...i need to phone him now and ask where he got the hosing and polished fuel rail pipe...nice touch!

ppl...can i angle grind the 'sanded' parts that the wheel caused by rubbing inside the arch? How thick is this metal? Just so i don't have this problem again! Also...as you can see the drive shaft remained straight, lower arm is fine too along with anti roll bar...even the strut hasn't moved much (last pic). Anyone got a step by step on how i can perform this wishbone change with ease?? Work begins thursday morning...max it shoudl take me is 3hrs! What is this 'SHOCKER' business?? not familiar with this part... Thanks! Sanj.

ok..already begun.. Ordered a Wishbone and bushes combined from GSF and necessary bolts, nuts and clips from VW. Also got a rod end just in case... take a look at the pics of what the damage is:

hiya all... out os these two pipercross panel filters, which should fit into my 16v airbox: GTi 16v Kjet (BIG BOX) Aug '89 on: 307x184 Gti 16v Kjet (SMALL BOX) March '86-Oct '91: 340x135 Also where do i get the older big corrado splitters that go under my front bumper...i have the larger one! And how much for it?? i hope its not expensive.. Thanks! Sanjay.

whats changed?? and whys ya car off the road? :(

owner wise..i think aaron is a much nicer guy to know, he used to own a red 16v at 21yrs or less and last i knew of him he worked for VW Autohaus as a sprayer. Fair enough, his one isn't much work...but atleast it's his own i think! His red one was... I heard once that jay turned up to Edition38's regular end of the month meets here in northants and got a bit laughed at in his astra coupe...i guess he prefers the VW scene more. Northampton is premier golf town! Bally you need to go out friday or saturday night for a cruise round our town, even during weekdays your bound to see one of their projects fly down the road! One of my favourite show pieces was matt leggets EX mk3 golf! the silver one...THE nicest machine to built in this town! 2nd to that would be premiers mk2 golf...but they've sprayed a good few shells and sold them on to ppl i know. One of them works at the same place as me...if you noticed an oak green MK2 golf with cream leathers at the ED38 show at billing...its owned by a guy who POURS money into it! its absolutely mint!
-
nah ahh a lad named jay aka jason owns it...formarly a vauxhall guy. he had a astra coupe with cream leather. This is to my understanding...he bought it about 2months ago maybe less...2nd premier car i think is aarons silver corrado, with shmidts. Jays one is always about town...nice leathers, very clean. Audi handles, flushed front recess+fogs i think too...tinted plates, M3 rear lights, porsche wheels... Clean but not half as nice as westsides!
-
Your replies mean a lot to me...this is good. As i don't have a haynes available for the MK2 golf, i only have one from my dear old mk4 polo...same sorta thing. I'll be trying to have a go myself! If its easy enough might even have a go at replacing the other sides wishbone so they're both new! The bushes and bolts i'll get too...it seems only the wishbone needs replacing, everything else is normal. I'll post some photos up 2morro...and contact ECP about replacements. Cheers guys! Sanj.

cheers guys...i had a good look at the damage just now...changed the wheel to the spare one. Cause: 17" wheel's tyre was being eaten away by the inner arch! Resulting in the tyre loosing its grip, thus slipping and causing me to hit the curb! Theres flakes of rubber sprayed all over the inside arch...photos to follow. Driveshaft is fine! Lower arm is also fine...the only thing that isn't fine is the wishbone! thats whats holding my tyre and suspension at an angle! Subframe is fine too...i didn't realise that is the piece of metal under the engine! The bit i got it mixed up with was the wishbone... so just need a new wishbone and probably any other bits to go with it..i.e. bolts and rubber bits. Where and how much do i get them for? Can i do it myself...it looks easy enough. Can anyone give me a step by step as to how to remove nackered wishbone and replace it with a new one. Looks like my cars lower on the front than the back! red springs are being used on front and yellow on back! must mean apex on back and sommit else on front! GMAX maybe... I can't let this happen again, so anyone got an answer?? can you get 'highering' caps? ahhaha
-
cheers...i spoke with james on MSN...he told me definately the following: new lower arm and lower ball joint- £60ish. then new subframe...POSSIBLY new drive shaft, but it might not be needed as it looks like the bent subframe is holding the driveshaft back..and is rubbing on the chassis leg. New tyre...all in all with labour we're lookin at about £250-300 depending on damage to drive shaft...as its £250 new! so 2nd hand its bound to be around £90-130...maybe more. I'm glad it might only be bent subframe, CV ball joint and lower arm! with about 3hrs labour at £30hr! Should have the C back before my 21st!

ok basically...this is what happened: no one involved...thankfully! goin round a round about at about 35mph... I braked to take the corner..maybe a bit too much as it slid and car must of locked...cos it just slid..rearing towards a curb head on! and its bloody heavy, as you know VW/Karmann didn't skimp on bodywork. it headed towards the curb...front ways! i managed to try to stear away and it got the passenger side wheel! popped the tyre..alloy has a chunk missing about 1inch long! wheel went back...cos subframe is now bent! and track rod is also bent.. only just managed to get home with it scrubbing at no end. u cant even place your finger between arch and wheel..only on passenger side. pic looks sommit like this: (thanks to james AKA VR6-NOS) can people tell me roughly the cost of the above two things...and anything else i may need to replace? alloy is re-usable and new tyre is needed. So far i have Subframe? track rod? do i need a new drive shaft? Maybe James can help...by the way i added you to my msn list mate. Thanks for any help you can give. Sanjay.

hmmm...oh well. just a thought. Very nice though!

-
so whats the final part numbers for these pedals?? do we need 2x clutch pedals and a RHD gas pedal?? OR normal brake and clutch and a LHD gas pedal? anyone got final part numbers...so i can nip over to Autohaus now and order me some!

the parcel shelf would look great in leather...i say do it! Take a look at the following pic..you'll notice a very nice black leathered up corrado with a leather shelf with 6x9's in..all Kenny stuff! I want a leather shelf too...once i find the interior next year of course. As for the dash...i say find a good place to do it professionally, as its black...why don't you do the easy option of getting a 2nd hand black dash. Boy will ya car smell of hot leather in the summer! OUCH!
