    MFA - MPG

mine has been giving me 22mpg max...round town it goes down to 18-19mpg! it has not got over 25mpg on the motorway doing 75mph for a good 30miles! I was told a vacuum hose was loose off of the inlet manifold, that was replaced and it still reads the poor mpg! i haven't bothered to check it out mathematecally. What else could it be?? I've plugged up and sealed my airbox, so its a standard 16v engine!! apart from a full powerflow ss system. Can i have a Cat and lambda probe fitted to this engine? :? Cheers Sanjay.
  4. yes mate...that was me. Saw you go past me...i would of been in a BMW racing jacket...just after i got chased by some crazy maniac in a new black astra, he tried to run me into a roundabout and was hurling abuse at me for no apparent reason. mate...when will you be there next?? i heard there were a few more of you corrado guys, inc. vwboyvr6...forgot his name, but he has a VR6 rebuilt and lives in rugby. see ya around i guess.
  5. hiya steve, VERY nice car..haven't seen it round northampton really...either you don't take it out much or you haven't owned it long. Very nice seats too!! i live near the eastern districts...so not far from you really. PVS is Premier Vehicle Services in grafton industrial estate. Let me know what you do with your BBS wheels mate...may need some temporary wheels while i get some new ones and sell my 17's. p.s. theres a Stevie B on porka.net..the polo forum, and he has a very nice red polo...wierd.
  6. Kev- you said my breaks squeal like mad!! and the front discs and pads are newish, around 4months old. is it the back ones that need changing? theyre slightly corroded but i can still see enough life in them 8)
  7. nope..washers are still there, till next year when i can be asked to spray my OE ones and reconnect the wiring for the heating mech in them.
  8. its wierd steve...but theres a Stevie B i know with a red polo...from porka.net. I'm near ecton brook...i ain't seen your car about mate. Looks very nice indeed! The seats your trying to sell are about £150-200 really...but a little common, so harder to shift. Unless any golf driver owners want em in theirs? the leathers should be about 400-600 for seats, and 800 for door cards+seats all in. Where would you have gone to get the retrim in leather?? Sanjay.
  9. Thanks once again guys... Its changed a bit since then, i now have tinted number plated, red tinted rear lights (like sukh's corrado), a full powerflow exhaust and another stereo. I've kept the voltmeter, but i may still move it elsewhere IF i get a tv screen. I've made my own doorbuilds, pics will follow when the weather is a bit better.
  10. Thats such a clean engine bay...looks great mate! :D
  11. does anyone have a picture of the golf mk2 rear seats in the corrado??
  12. i'm still in andy! i can't wait...thanks for all the hard work you've contributed towards this so far mate. :D
  13. this post is a good one...cos the previous owner of my corrado has LED washers put in the place of the OE ones! But i still have the OE ones along with the wireing. Where do they connect up?? The led jets have a pos and negative wire...so i suppose i could wire them to that? the wires in the heated OE jets are brown and blue i think. So can i do it that way? or do i need to re-route them back the way it was.
  14. if dalj wants to try them in mine...he knows where i am as i know his brother. and i also work in the same building as dalj too. VERY nice seats. 8)
  15. VVVVRRRROOOM TTTSSSHH....VRRRROOOOOOM...TTSSSHHH. how much for of them!
  16. how about i get two dirty great big thick carrier bags filled with CV grease and cover the CV gaitors up with them...and tie rod them in place...that'll slow the wear..but these splits are nothing big, not even tears...just starts of them. Thansk for all your advice and ideas...the superglue idea might not be suffiecient...i might have to keep an eye on it in case it does come undone.
  17. here we go again...i took the advice someone ave me about doing the wishbone myself...so i guess i'll take a look and see what i can do. Getting the hub loose is my only worry and also tightening up them bolts again. I'll ring my garage and gte a qoute to see how much they'll chearge all in to do both. I think i'll get them done asap! Thanks again for all your help guys...and H100VW, i wish the tutors at the college would allow that to happen but i think they might not. I'll ask my mate who used to get taught there...but he hated it so gave up. Actually i ave a mate doin an apprenticeship...totally forgot..i could ask him i guess. Anything is better than doing it myself in the freezing cold and finding out i need sommit else, if i break sommit.
  18. £20 a side?? oh my god...its £33 for an hour of labour at my garage i use. so i'm talkin £26 for CV kits...and about £100's worth of labour costs to get it put right.. the cv boots are only split on the top...but its not a clear cut on either of them. They are just being squeezed of the grease and then as it spins the grease is being shot everywhere. I haven't got £130 right now...i will get it done ASAP after xmas though... Will it be ok till then if i just use it for work and back? i hope so Thanks for all your input guys, i appreciate the help. and no...sadly i don't have time to replace the CV's myself and it looks like a messy job too. I already found it a nightmare replacing my wishbone on the passenger side 2 months ago..and now this will take time too. I'm hoping my garage can do the CV's at an hour per side. and i get discount at GSF so i should be able to get them cheap anyway. Might get drivers one done now and then the other after xmas. :?
  19. i have a damaged CV gaitor on the driver side side of the driveshaft. Theres also a small pin prick hole in the passenger side one.. I noticed yesterday that there was grease smeared all over the inside of my wheel arch and grease all over the subframe and leaking onto the wheel. What i'd like to know is, is this serious?? what will happen if i carry on using the car with the rubber bits pierced? Is it dangerous? Thanks for any help you can give! Sanjay.
  20. oh my lord...look at the dishs on the white one...what are they borbets??
  21. Nigel- does that apply to the latest range?
  22. oh dear...thats is the NICEST engine bay i've seen...fantastic car mate. Keep up the work and hang on to this one...3yrs isn't enough to drool over it.
  23. not much mention of kenwood...but i rate kenny units to be honest. I've never tried pioneer or alpine much, but my mums rocco has an alpine cassette unit it it and my old polo had a sony cd player. I upgraded it straight away with the Kenwood Z828 mp3 player...very nice graphics but a little too plasticky. It cost me £280 2yrs ago and lasted me throughout my polo years. The corrado isn't so lucky, it just has a cheap kenwood tape player. I'm going to hopefully be getting the Kenwood M-7024 mp3 version of their latest range. Top the flagship model, but its got the same features my old Z828 had with a little more. What i noticed about my friends Sony Mp3 cd HU is that it didn't take long loading up tracks and the time between track changes was un-noticable. My Z828 took a while really...about 3seconds. I think the latest range is far more better though and obviously kenwood must of uprated their units over 2/3yrs! I've heard VERY good things about alpines units, especially the ones which require a constant battery live wire as they have 60watts per channel and run at a higher voltage than 14.4V ( i think its about 17.4V). Its down to personal tastes really, the clarion units are VERY VERY tasty! brushed faces, colour changes, all sorts and very cheap too considering i think they have DAB.
