This gives me a dilema. I assume you have to screw these into the console? I'd quite like them but I refuse to put screws in something rare :(
-
Thanks. Ok, will leave it then. Might be interested although I just found out they are still available at the dealers. Do you have any close-up pics? How original looking is the re-cover? Ok, will keep it in mind. Mine has been repaired so only really after a spare. Will have a think. Will leave them. Mine has a very small amount and I would have swapped if these were better.

Thanks. Mmmmmm, want some :D Now... Recaros or Schrick. Decisions, decisions :)

Any rough idea what BHP I could expect on mine? It hasn't been rolling roaded since the map was done by the previous owner; D&G 264 cams, Milltek exhaust, D&G map. And if I were to put a Schrick manifold on there then would it make much BHP difference?

1) What condition are the speaker pods on the door cards? 2) Do you have the little strip of plastic on the top of the passenger doorcard that sits over the lip of the door (not sure what it's called - inner door scraper?). I might need to take a pic to show you what I mean but it's the length of the window and is normally attached to the very top of the door card. (I appreciate you're selling the doorcards with the seats but it's worth me asking in case you do split later). 3) What condition is the leather gear knob and does it have any custom stitching or is it still standard? 4) Does the passenger wing mirror motor fully work (I've just fixed mine but a spare is handy)? 5) What is the glass like on both wing mirrors? Any discolouration? 6) What colour and what condition is the front VW badge? 7) What colour and what condition is the read VW badge?

Thanks for the input. I've just ordered a screw extraction set and will have a go at it.

Yes a little darker and it has more flecks in: Classic (scroll down a little): http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?49025-C5-oem..-bit-more-cleaning..lol/page58 Dragon: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?56793-Lukeys-Dragon-Green-VR6-on-banded-steels

Yes like that option of keeping the drill bit in. Thanks.

Is this it? [video=youtube_share;5k7oZp8aRLQ]

Well they didn't throw their glasses at me :D

Flush unfortunately. Otherwise I'd have hacksawed some slots into it for a screwdriver. The wheel is not on the car. I think it has been stored for some time in someones garden or garage, hence the rusty bolts. But it's old skool so I fancy trying to get it on the car :)

Hope I've made the right move with the engine colour ?!?!?

Like that :) -
Does having three drinkers stop, stare and point as you drive past their pub count?

Yes. Both nice colours. Oh, there is a pearl green too. So there are actually 3 different greens. Pearl was replaced with dragon I think.

Yay, wing mirror mechanism fixed. It's amazing what some superglue and a bit of logical thinking will do

Thanks Matt :) I did a few jobs this afternoon, mostly preventative maintenance: * Greased the sunroof mechanism after I noticed it was bone dry. It now seems to slide a little nicer. A working sunroof is one of my must haves in a Corrado and preventing breakage is easier than fixing it (although looking though the invoice history the mechanism was fixed at one point anyway). * Greased the boot locking mechanism and lightly oiled the hatch struts. Also re-welded (again) the rear shelf strap and also lightly greased them where they hook over the retaining pins on the hatch. Net result is almost silent opening and closing of the hatch compared to a horrible creaking noise each time. * Fixed the positive battery clamp which was loose and the cable could have come off at any bump. It needed some grease cleaning off the terminal and then penetrarting oil on the tightening bolt to free up the movement. It's nice and secure now. I actually went to Halfords today to buy a replacementg but wasn't able to find one. But that turned out to be a good result as it's fixed for free now and still retains the original clamp :) * Started tackling the one thing that doesn't work 100% on the car - the passenger wing mirror and switch. It was very intermittent before and when it did 'work' the mirror would sound like it was moving but wouldn't. I stripped down the switch and cleaned up the contacts. Also greased the 'rails' that the switches move on so the switch movement is great now. It has clearly had a repair before as I had to re-glue one part of it again. Unfortunately I completely forgot to fix the one LED in the car that doesn't work so I'll do that another day. The mirror now always activates so the switch is definitely fixed and the movement is great. But the mirror still didn't move even when the motor was clearly moving. So I took the glass out and can now see why. Most of the mechanism behind it is broken and the mirror wasn't being moved correctly by the motor (motor seems to work fine). I'll have a go at repairing it tomorrow as I'm hoping a bit of glue is all that's needed. If not then I'll seek out a replacement wing mirror and canabalise the parts.

Pearl green J reg Corrado on Portsmouth road driving south out of Kingston-upon-Thames today at 1pm. I've seen this a few times now so it must be local. Sadly I was in the Golf so he probably wondered why I was flashing :)

Holy thread revival batman! Sorry to hear about the engine :( :( Sorry to hear you've still got the 3 spokes ;)

This question often comes up. In fact there's a thread about it a few posts down :) http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?56714-TCS-any-one-bought-a-car-from-them

Thanks all so far. My brother did actually make an offer on a newer M3 but it seems he hasn't come to an agreement with the dealer. I know he will hold out for the right car in the right colour at the right price. So I don't think I need to make a decision quite yet. I can see the pro's and con's of each side and I know that there would be nothing wrong with my brothers car. Unlike me he knows what he's doing with a spanner and cars have been his love for about 20 years so he would know if there was something wrong with one of his cars (I need to check when the next major service is due though). But I went out in the Corrado again today and still absolutely love it. It doesn't compare to the M3 in any way but my heart is definitely saying keep the Corrado. If someone had said that to me before I'd owned one I'd have said they were nuts. And on the way to bed my daughter had a quick look at it and asked "Dad, why does the Corrado look so good?" which made my day

I wasn't a huge success worldwide either. I think it only sold something like 6,000-ish cars in the UK, of which around 3500 are left. It's getting a reasonably rare care now. That's one of the beauties of them :)
